Oath Keepers are Back

| January 20, 2021

Surprising exactly no one, the Oath Keepers are once again in the news. Several members have been swept up by the FBI for participating in the recent Capitol Follies, and the Main Stream Media is all over it. For the MSM they embody the Ugly American Veteran- a violent PTSD/TBI stricken psychopath with extreme political views and assault weapons. The friendly folks over at that bastion of Civil Rights, the Southern Poverty Law Center, opine,

“The Oath Keepers, which claims tens of thousands of present and former law enforcement officials and military veterans as members, is one of the largest radical antigovernment groups in the U.S. today. While it claims only to be defending the Constitution, the entire organization is based on a set of baseless conspiracy theories about the federal government working to destroy the liberties of Americans.”

Oath Keeper President Thomas Caldwell wishes it were so, at least the tens of thousands part, and the donations that could bring. Where was this army of armed malcontents on 6 January? No idea, but we do know where they weren’t.

Alleged “Oath Keepers” militia members plotted ahead of Capitol attack, authorities say

Three suspected members of anti-government militia groups are facing conspiracy charges after federal prosecutors say they communicated with each other to plot how they would attack the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 riot, one sending messages that celebrated “storming the castle” and saying “We need to do this at the local level.”

Thomas Edward Caldwell, Jessica Marie Watkins and Donovan Crowl were charged Tuesday with conspiracy, conspiracy to impede or injure an officer, destruction of government property, obstruction of an official proceeding, unlawful entry into a restricted building and violent entry or disorderly conduct.

CBS News was first to obtain the complaint, which marks the first conspiracy case brought against rioters linked to an extremist group. Though the three were initially charged individually, the new complaint says the three plotted together to obstruct the Electoral College vote.

I believe CBS News meant Congress’ voting to confirm the various state’s Electoral College results, but that point is moot. Three. Not tens of thousands. Just three. This is the reality, not what the MSM is using to impinge the image of LEOs and Military Vets. Last time I head from these clowns they were getting bags of gummy dicks in Nevada; hardly the bogymen the press would have all believe them to be. They may have started with good intentions, but the organization has devolved into a cesspool of wannbe’s, never-were’s, and posers.

Where were all the veteran LEOs and military, then? Those that attended demonstrations that day said their piece and went home. The rest sat it out and are in a wait-and-see mode, not liking the election results but resigned to reality once again, and looking to see how things can be done better next time. Two years is not long.

You don’t have to take my word, there are pages of posts here in the archives that showcase the Oath Keepers. One of our more erudite and loquacious Editors may want to delve into this, in their spare time. This post is actually in reply to a tasker from Management, where some concern has arisen over, again, the media painting all of us with the Dystopian Armed NAZI brush and using the Oath Keepers as their template. All three of them.

Here I intended to provide some contrast between the real and the ideal, if you will. The American Vet’s real and MSM’s ideal. Read the entire article here: CBS News.

Those idiots are akin to the dysfunctional veteran crowd. Largely embellishing (if they ever honorably served) POS who are an embarrassment to anyone who ever wore a uniform or a badge.

The most egregious infraction is the rest of us get lumped in with those ‘tards.

Wood shampoos for the lot are in order.

  2. Green Thumb says:

Big difference between a Veteran and a Solider.

One you assume; one you never forget.

    Fakers are gonna be Fakers

  4. Anonymous says:

Gee, so “preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States” is now “racist” or something…

  5. MarineDad61 says:

A VG site specific Google search for “oathkeeper”.
    Holy crap!
This should keep anyone here busy for a good 2 hours.

  6. KoB says:

The MeTV Network is running a Classic Cartoon Series that describes these fools perfectly. Looney Tunes! And I believe these fools have about as much of a chance at success in what they do as the Coyote does in having the Road Runner for a snack.

  7. OWB says:

The bad actors were arrested. Good.

As has been said around here many times, when you break things and hurt people just for grins, it is not OK and we do NOT support you. On the other hand, we will defend your right to say stuff even when we don’t agree with you.

Wasn’t it PH who reminded us a few years ago that simply being polite would help a lot? Manners matter.

  8. Quartermaster says:

A Dim operative has said they will root out all opposition, Libertarians included. What will Oathkeepers and the 3%ers do then. What will you and I do.

I know I’m not going quietly to the re-education camp.

  9. MI Ranger says:

So I’m wondering did they have a wire tap first or did they arrest them, and then try to connect the dots? Call chaining is pretty easy for a Big City Police Department that has been trained by the FBI. Then they needed to get the call transcripts from the provider…or that big data center in Utah that Mr. Snowden told us about and tie the two/three together with a conspiracy.

I would bet that the conspiracy part gets dropped before trial, as it might look funny how they obtained those transcripts on US citizens…but then no one is going to ask the bigger question! Why did the FBI not act on this before hand or tell the Capital Police? Or did they?

” Where was this army of armed malcontents on 6 January?”

Something I, too, have wondered. I have even looked for coverage of the promised insurrections by well-armed right-wing terrorists all over the country.

I read that Richmond Va. prepared for riots, etc. by various violent right-wing extremist hordes. What I read the next day was that about a dozen of the massive Proud Boy white supremacist organization showed up, making a total of about 50 armed terrorists.

So much for the “liberal” fantasy of imminent danger from right-wing revolutionary terrorism. But I will wager the delusions will reappear as soon as this embarrassing silence has been placed in the memory hole.
