Stupid criminals

Thanks to KoB and Jeff LPH 3 who contributed some or all of these charmers.

First up is a stupid cop, not a criminal. It does fit with the migraine-inducing stupidity theme I’ve got going here.

A deputy sheriff in Virginia was fired over social media posts that threatened politicians, ‘liberal’ judges, and tech CEOs

A deputy sheriff in Prince William County, Virginia, was fired after it was discovered he was the owner of an account on Parler that made threatening posts against governors, politicians, judges, and CEOs.

In one post to Parler, a conservative social media platform, the account, “WeThePeopleWarrior,” encouraged their followers to “take back your state capitals.”

“Find the homes of every governor, mayor, attorney general, liberal judge, senator, congressman and every major media/social media CEO,” the post reads. “Find them. Remove them from their sanctuary. Bring the nightmare to where they lay their heads and kiss their loved ones. Show them that they are NOT untouchable.”

While all posts from the account appear to have been recently deleted, screenshots of the Parler post have been shared on Twitter by Molly Conger, the Virginia-based journalist and activist who first reported about the account.

In an interview with The Washington Post, the fired deputy Aaron Hoffman said he had recently created a Parler account, but denied making the posts, telling the outlet he was unsure of who made them.

“I do understand the community’s concern,” Hoffman told The Washington Post. “I’ve been a public servant for over 15 years, and I take that very seriously. I am in no way a threat to the public. This disturbs me as well.”

“Early yesterday our agency was notified about disturbing comments being made on several social media outlets by a deputy sheriff. Sheriff Hill was notified and ordered an Internal Affairs investigation,” The Prince William County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted to Facebook. “The investigation has concluded and the deputy has been terminated from employment with our office.”

In one photo posted to Parler, the person behind the Parler account appeared to share a photo of a myriad of weapons in his possession, some inside a vest with the word “SHERIFF” inscribed on it.

On another Parler post that questioned how to remove US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts from his position atop the nation’s highest court, the user behind the “WeThePeopleWarrior” account commented it “sounds like his life needs to be shortened.”

In an additional post, the user said he would kill anyone who attempted to give his children the COVID-19 vaccine without his consent, a response to a local proposal in Washington, DC that would allow children to be vaccinated without parental consent, as The Washington Post noted. And in another, he said he would become “insanely violent” should he be asked to wear a face mask to prevent the spread of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

“No one seems bold enough to confront me for not wearing a mask,” the post read. “I guess it’s God keeping me from murdering the mentally ill.”

Parler was founded in 2018 but skyrocketed in popularity this year among conservatives and members of the far-right who sought a new platform after sites like Twitter and Facebook began efforts to more thoroughly moderate the spread of misinformation and disinformation ahead of the 2020 election, as Insider’s Rachel E. Greenspan and Paige Leskin previously reported.

The founder of Parler has denied that it a right-wing website, though experts previously told Insider that it poses a disinformation threat as more extremists flock to it.

St. Louis man who cashed dead mother-in-law’s Social Security checks for decades gets probation

A St. Louis was sentenced to five years of probation Thursday and ordered to repay $144,000 worth of Social Security checks that he cashed after his mother-in-law died, prosecutors said.

Robert Fountaine failed to notify the Social Security Administration about the September 1999 death of Ethel Barbee, and for nearly 19 years cashed her checks or used the money that was deposited directly into her account, his guilty plea says. He also repeatedly certified that the money would go to her or be used for her care, prosecutors have said.

The benefits were suspended in 2018 and he was indicted in 2019. Fountaine, 56, pleaded guilty a year ago in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one felony count of theft of government funds.

Man charged with holding up same Minnesota bank he just got out of prison for robbing

A 51-year-old man faces federal charges for robbing the same central Minnesota bank he was convicted of holding up more than a decade ago.

James Richard Ardito, of Andover, was charged with armed bank robbery in U.S. District Court Tuesday for holding up federally insured Deerwood Bank in Garrison, Minn. in July. He made off with about $400, according to federal charges.

Crow Wing County prosecutors also charged Ardito for aggravated robbery and illegal gun possession earlier this year for the same incident. He is currently incarcerated in Sherburne County jail.

Ardito was convicted in 2009 for taking about $3,000 at gunpoint from the same bank. According to the Brainerd Dispatch, he escaped a halfway house in 2018, where he was living on supervised release from the previous bank robbery conviction.

North Dakota man kicks in front door after getting no reply to Facebook friend request, police say

We all need some friends.

A Williston, N.D., man is accused of kicking in the front door of a house after his ex-coworker did not reply to his Facebook friend request.

Caleb Burczyk, 29, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of burglary and terrorizing filed in Williams County District Court Tuesday, Dec. 29. Burczyk’s attorney Jeff Nehring declined to comment on the case.

Police say Burczyk started sending aggressive Facebook messages to his ex-coworker on Dec. 24, according to an affidavit of probable cause. He threatened his ex-coworker’s life and warned him that he was going to “come at” him if he did not accept his Facebook friend request, the affidavit stated.

“Accept my friend request or I’m going to murder you,” Burczyk wrote in a message to his ex-coworker, according to the affidavit.

Police say Burczyk broke into the house of his ex-coworker’s father on Dec. 26. Security footage shows a man kicking in the front door of the house and investigators later identified the man as Burczyk, the affidavit states.

The ex-coworker later told police that he was scared for his and his family’s well-being, according to the affidavit.

  1. Graybeard says:

The Minnesota bank robber reminds me of a case we had in Texas where an inmate paroled out after 30-40 years inside, completed his sentence.

Things had changed so much he didn’t know what to do or how to function. Computers, cell phones, automatic transmission cars, etc. So he sat down in the middle of the drive or something similar. (It’s been 25 years since I heard the story, details fuzzy.)

Regardless, he did something to be put back in prison. He knew how to function there. He was helpless outside.

Again, we have GOT to quit asking; “How teh stoopid can people get?” They continue to take it as a challenge.

These kind of stories are getting harder to find too. Just like the FGS. They’re out there, but are not as “sexy” as “ORANGE MAN BAD”, or “Right wing rioters rioting with scary black rifles”, or “Let’s gush over the FIRST (ht 2 TXNorsky) black female elected VP!”

    Cultural Question:

The perception that the Vietnam War is culturally linked to Hard Rock, is it real?

Did the grunts in Vietnam listen to Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, and The Rolling Stones?

Stupid Criminal case in my hometown. This life long Criminal aged 60, walked ( rather Limped as he uses a cane since he had a stroke during his last stay in prison) into a bank and handed the cashier a note demanding cash. The teller gave him the money.
Said bank is within spitting distance of the courthouse and Town and Sherriff’s Police Stations.
Said Criminal than walked across the street to Dollar General, bought Clothes to change his appearance then went to his Mom’s apartment not 2 blocks away to lay Low.
He was in custody within an hour,

Speaking of stupid criminals, there was a sergeant on the PD I worked for who looked nothing like a police officer, he looked like a failed accountant down on his luck. The Vice Squad used him all the time to get solicited by the hookers in town so they could lock them up.
One day, about 1pm, he got solicited by a hooker on her favorite corner. She was scooped up by Vice and taken to the county jail. Her pimp got her bailed out from county, picked her up and took her back to her favorite corner. About 7pm, she solicited the same guy, wearing the same clothes, driving the same car, and got locked up again, no bond this time.
