Officer shoots, kills burglary suspect in South City Sunday morning

ST. LOUIS — A police officer searching a storage building shot and killed a burglary suspect after the man charged at him holding a screwdriver, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting shortly after 5:40 a.m. Sunday inside a building in the 4400 block of Gravois Avenue, police said.

Police Chief John Hayden, in a briefing to the press shortly before 8 a.m., said police officers were responding to a reported burglary at a private storage facility at 4410 Gravois, near the intersection of Gravois and Taft avenues.

Arriving officers heard what appeared to be the sound of power tools being used inside the building, Hayden said.

Police were searching the building when one officer confronted two suspects, Hayden said.

One of the suspects charged at the officer while holding a screwdriver, Hayden said. The officer shot at the suspect several times.

Bronx killer released from jail after grand jury determines he was acting in self defense when he stabbed his girlfriend’s ex

By FATMA KHALED and THOMAS TRACY
An accused killer was released from jail Thursday after a Bronx grand jury determined he acted in self defense when he stabbed his girlfriend’s ex to death.

Manuel Williams, 36, got into a wild fight with his girlfriend and her ex Tyson Hawthorne, 38, who were sitting together in a double-parked SUV on E. 149th St. near Courtlandt Ave. in Mott Haven about 4 p.m. Nov. 24, according to cops.

NYPD detectives arrested Williams on Nov. 27 on a murder charge. But a Bronx grand jury voted to dismiss the case, believing he killed Hawthorne in self defense, officials said.

Williams was released from Rikers Island on Thursday after six days behind bars.

Suspect my azz, the perp…screwed hisself. A fool with a tool? A tool of a fool? Let the rioting begin, after all, he was a good boy and dindu nuffin. He and his shop class project partner were on a field trip applying practical tool handling techniques.

And the Bronx Dumbazzes. The picture says a 1000 words. Getting your damn fool azz kilt over a baby mama. Anybody want to lay odds that Homie and mz thang (sic) will be a hot item soon, spawning more dregs on Society? Wonder how many black on black murders that makes for this year so far? Last count I saw a bit back was 7K +-.

Ruger SP 101 = Nice Hide-a-way Piece 101. Alls God’s Chill’ren needs a nice little hammerless wheel gun.

Here in my neck of the woods, we are dealing with the aftermath of an officer involved shooting.

Three teens were in a car suspected of being stolen. The police blocked the street and tried to effect a stop. The teens backed out of a driveway, drove up on a sidewalk where an officer was standing. The officer fired, killing two of the teens.

(Of course, some people say that the officer didn’t need to fire as he could have just stepped out of the way of the car coming at him. That ignores the idea that the cop was preventing a high speed chase which could have ended in more deaths or injuries.)

Inside the car there were 2 handguns found.

The teens all had long records but of course were described as “angels” and “never did anything wrong.”

At the funeral, a shot ran out and struck the mother of one of the dead teens. Initially, it was thought that the shot came from the woods surrounding the cemetery.

Turns out the shot was from a 16 year old who was a “friend” of the deceased who brought a gun to the funeral. (Illegally carrying it, of course.) The shot was “accidental,” but hit the kid with the gun, and ricocheted into the mother. The mother was treated and the kid ran away but was caught at the hospital.

Just another example of teens in choirs committing violence.

The real problem is that activists are blaming the officer for firing his weapon. This follows the release of a video in a long standing case where a former Army medic was arrested, taken to jail, suffered some psychotic breakdown and attacked jail staff. He was restrained and later died. He was under treatment for PTSD but the jail staff made errors as well.

Activists are trying to portray both incidents as racially motivated.

Obviously there is more to the story, but I am a little confused on the second story about the release of Mr. Williams. So (Mr. Hawthorne) and his ex-girlfriend are sitting in a minivan (not an SUV as identified in the story). They did share a child together. Mr. Williams approaches the Van and is screaming at them (in a previous confrontation Mr. Williams had stabbed Mr. Hawthorne with a pair of scissors in the eye (superficial wound due to wearing sunglasses). Unless Mr. Hawthorne produced a gun, how is Mr. Williams being threatened that required him to approach the minivan, stab Mr. Hawthorne, and then go to the other side and stab his girlfriend as well? I do believe New York State has a requirement to retreat, and this would not even hold up in a Stand Your Ground State because Mr. Williams is the aggressor.
I would love to hear what they told the Grand Jury to get him off! [Probably something like, there were no illegal ballots under that table, and we did not tell them to leave they left on their own…]

To paraphrase Obi-Wan Kenobi…”These are not the Black Lives that Matter…” Move along, Citizen, nothing to see here.

MI Ranger, I scratched my watch and wound my azz over this too. Read and re-read it 4 times before I sent it to ‘Ed. Even did a quick Google Foo looking for more info, no joy there. May need a ninja with way yonder more research skilz than the Gun Bunny.

Best I can figure is there was bad blood between the 2, most probably to do with the baby mama. Most probably with her “stirring the pot” if you will. Been well known to happen. Be interesting to know the “testimony” that she gave to the Grand Jury.
