Mothers of the year?

These two ladies’ stories hit the wire yesterday. I’m not sure which one is worse.

Texas teacher fatally shot teenage son while driving to school: report

Candidate #1

A Texas teacher is accused of gunning down her teenage son while she was driving him to school near Waco, a report said.

The teacher, 39-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Hunt, allegedly shot her 17-year-old son outside of the small town of Riesel, near Waco, on Monday morning, local television station KWTX reported.

Hunt then walked to the town and told two people that her son was “with her mother in heaven.”

“What have I done…this is not real,” she told the two people, according to the report.

Officers responded to the scene and found the teen dead with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the report.

Hunt had picked him up from his father’s house that morning and was supposed to drop him off at school, the report said.

Hunt was arrested and hit with a murder charge after the slaying. She’s being held in a local jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Las Vegas woman accused of killing daughters because organs ‘worth a lot of money’

Candidate #2

A 26-year-old Las Vegas woman has been accused of killing her two daughters – allegedly telling their father that the infants’ organs would be “worth a lot of money,” according to a report.

Amanda Sharp-Jefferson, 26, was arrested Friday on murder charges after her boyfriend, Jaykwon Singleton, said he came home to find her with their unresponsive daughters — Rose, 1, and Lily, 2 months — on top of each other in a baby swing, both dead, the Review Journal reported, citing an arrest report.

Singleton told investigators that Sharp-Jefferson “kept shushing him and at one point, made a statement that their organs were worth a lot of money,” according to the report.

When asked about comments about the value of the organs, Sharp-Jefferson said she “saw a movie where people made money on body parts after a person died,” the report said, according to Fox 5 Vegas.

Police have said it was unclear how the two daughters died.

Singleton added that he and Sharp-Jefferson had been together since 2018 and had not had any problems until she recently “started talking about the alter spirit world,” according to the police report.

But Singleton’s girlfriend insisted that she had been set up, saying she did not have any kids and didn’t even know Singleton, the Review Journal reported.

Officials said Sharp-Jefferson denied being under the influence of alcohol or drugs but said there may have been marijuana present in her apartment, according to Fox 5 Vegas.

Sharp-Jefferson appeared Tuesday before Justice Karen Bennett-Haron, who set another hearing for Thursday, when attorneys are expected to argue whether the suspect should continue to be held without bail.

In January 2017, Sharp-Jefferson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor destruction of property charge, and the case was later dismissed.

Both Nevada and Texas are death penalty states. Nevada hasn’t used their’s recently, but I think that Sharp-Jefferson would be an excellent candidate to jump start the program.

Use Shift+delete. It bypasses the recycle bin and deletes permanently.

Said the mother????

But you are still here.

“Hunt then walked to the town and told two people that her son was “with her mother in heaven.”

FuzeVT

That was confusing to me, too.

JBUSMC

The grandma?

Ret_25X

Candidate Number 2 is full potato level stupid, and she went full “stupid is as stupid does”…

Candidate Number 1, however, is a frightening case. She apparently just decided that killing her son made great sense and it could not wait another minute. She is a college graduate so she cannot use the “stupid” defense.

AW1Ed

Ret, I learned long ago not to confuse education with intelligence.

BruteLarson

Indeed. Or credentialed meaning competent.

We have a lot of academics that can’t seem

to apply their learning to how it works in

the real world. It’s why I’d like to see

apprenticeships come back.

I strongly suspect some mental issues, which may explain why son was with father, not mother, and why father and mother were separate.

A sad case all around

Greybeard:

Agree.

How much does anyone bet that her attorney used post-partum depression as a defense?

The Dead Man

Both sound like something broke in their head. No sarcasm for once. Undiagnosed schizophrenia or something.

David

Not sure I would expect either to get the death penalty, they are both seriously ill. Life in the loonie bin, maybe…

FuzeVT

The first story is just sad. The didn’t go into background motivation and that, perhaps is why it doesn’t seem as number 2.

Number 2. Wow. There’s a lot to unpack there and I don’t have time to try. That mug shot, however, is pretty chilling in the context. She looks like she’s just taking another selfie – not a care in the world.

FuzeVT

Ugh.
“why it doesn’t seem as number 2.”
Should have been a “strange” in that sentence, of course.

MI Ranger

I agree with FuzeVT,
#2 seems to have stepped away from her body “insisted that she had been set up, saying she did not have any kids and didn’t even know Singleton”, and who knows how the two children died…maybe she thought they were dolls and needed their batteries changed.
#1 seems to have just flipped the switch and murdered her son. The story is a bit vague

BruteLarson

Yeah, that creeps me out too. She looks bored.

Number one is someone I’d have found attractive at that age if she was cleaned up.

She just looks gone in that mugshot.

SFC D

Sounds like both “mothers” have a short in their headset somewhere.

Graybeard

My thoughts as well.

ninja

Agree.

Lawd halp, and we think that we have problems. Their cornbread is NOT baked all the way thru. When I FIRST saw the Texas article yesterday, it wouldn’t open (some kinda inherwebz glicks on going). Prolly a good thing. Then the Vegas blurb scrolled in, got it to pop open a few hours later. After reading, I popped another BP pill and chased it down with a frosty Yuengling. It helped…a little bit.

“Not guilty by reason of mental defect.” “Vengeance is Mine saith The Lord.” “He works in mysterious ways His Wonders to behold.” I would like to be the mysterious way that works His Wonders.

Ex-PH2

Gee, whiz, folks, these two make Medea look like a piker. Killed her two sons to keep Jason from taking them away from her… killed her brother… poisoned Creon’s daughter with something so nasty that he absorbed it, too…

Well, who knows what the “eebil ones” were whispering in these gals’ ears…. They’ll get that old “guilty but mentally ill” chestnut when they should both be punished severely. I will not even try to guess what drove them.

BruteLarson

Charlie’s Angels? Return of the Manson girls?

Fuck, The most basic and powerful instinct of a female of any species corrupted and destroyed.

How in bloody hell does that happen?

I’m beginning to wonder if there isn’t something to this witchcraft thing buzzing around…
