Boy tries to defend home and family from intruders

By Zach Horner
A crime alert you need to know about, police need your help identifying four men involved in a home invasion in South Bend.

What happened in the home was caught on camera, and shows how a seemingly normal morning can turn dangerous in just a matter of seconds.

Despite that danger, a young boy tried to defend his home and family.

Olivia Cruz, Lives on S. Grant Street “Scary, that it could happen so quickly,” Olivia Cruz says. She lives near the home where the alleged home invasion occurred.

It was September 30th; a nightmare before noon at a South Bend home.

“About four males knocked on the door, a juvenile who was inside opened that door, and those males forced themselves inside the home,” South Bend Police Media Liaison Christine Karsten says.

According to police it was in the 500 Block of South Grant Street in South Bend where a family was just minding their own business, on a Wednesday morning around 10:30, when men broke in with guns creating chaos.

Police say shots were fired during the home invasion, luckily no one was physically injured.

“We were shocked, we heard the gun shots, it was scary. I mean, our kids play outside, but that’s the first incident like that since I’ve been here,” Cruz says.

“I think what’s really hard to watch is seeing a little boy in the video trying to defend his home trying to defend his family. I know people on social media have been calling him brave,” Karsten says.

That boy in the video is seen swinging at the intruders, even throwing objects at the four men.

Man who fatally shot driver on I-75 in possible road rage claims self-defense, prosecutor says

By Jennifer Edwards Baker and Joanna Bouras
A driver who fatally shot another motorist in a possible case of road rage on northbound Interstate 75 told police it was self-defense, Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Ron Sanders tells FOX19 NOW.

The man was questioned and released without being charged after the incident about 1 p.m. Friday near the Kyles Lane ramp in Fort Wright.

“His use of force is under investigation,” Sanders said Saturday. “It’s very concerning any time we have any allegations of a road rage incident police are investigating the use of force and whether or not it was justifiable use of self-defense.

Police arrived on the scene to find a two-car crash and one male victim who had been shot. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police have said they believe the victim died from gunshots and not the crash. Officers interviewed several witnesses to determine exactly what transpired but say the crash was followed by the shooting.

BZ to the young lad for putting up a spirited defense, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. Gun Bunny reminds us 11B-Mc opined, “Headbutt the Hangman while he’s putting the noose on your neck.” That makes a fine daily FGS quote right there.

“If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 50 years ago, a liberal 25 years ago, and a racist today.” —THOMAS SOWELL

“You knew this was next”

And you know who is going show up next to say hello.
Nice tutorial on the Mosin. Now I’m an expert..

5th/77th FA

^Word^, ‘beans. Be nice to hear from her. I’m sure riding herd on them little ones, in addition to her other duties, has kept ker quite busy throughout the summer. She cooks, too, you know. IIRC their farm is in Iowa, and the farmers there are catching hell, weather wise. From my sources in Nebraska, this Chinesecommunist Originated Virus Infecting Disease is still having ripple effect thru that whole supply chain. Even the popcorn growers are suffering because of the movie theaters having been shut down.

Was a cool linky on the Mosin…I, too, am more edumacated now. “…kicks like a mule and booms like a cannon.” Be still my beating heart.

Got to admire the spunk of the young man, defending his Mom and home. From the video he was bringing every weapon he had to bear, toys, fists, kicks, and I swear I saw him throw a head butt. 11B will be proud. Do have to wonder why 4 hood rats would be breaking into an occupied home at 1030hrs of a morning.

These teh stoopid drivers now-a-days has got me to riding shotgun, literally, everytime I have to go to the big city. Toting the primary, backup, and a throw down…just in case.

“Knife to a gun fight…” Bet that dumbass would also tug on Superman’s Cape AND pee into the wind.

David

Have a friend who fits bull barrels to Mosins and regularly shoots 1/4 MOA groups… that’s 1/2″ at 200 yards.

Wonder if Capt. Obvious was the Kenton Counth spokesman? I dunno about your neck of the woods, but I generally don’t hear of many people getting fatal GSWs in normal car wrecks. Unless maybe their own car shot them?

Couldn’t get the link for the kid to open. I suppose WNDU-nuthin

Heh

But from the article, the kid has the right heart. When he turns 18, sign him up for 11B. I expect great things of him.
