Woman complains patrol car is ‘too hot’ during her arrest for leaving child in hot car

7/11/17 – A Florida woman has been charged after leaving her child in a hot car, and then complained to police that it was too hot when she was put in the back of the police cruiser during her arrest.

Police responded to a report of a child left in a vehicle at a South Daytona Dollar General, WFTV reported.

A police report says officers found a 5-year-old boy sitting alone in a locked Hyundai, parked in direct sunlight without any shade. The front driver’s side window was down; both passenger side windows were rolled up. The back driver’s side window was slightly open.

Police said the boy was visibly upset and sweaty.

Colleen Walker, 30, told police the boy wanted to stay in the car while she shopped.

“He wasn’t in the car for two hours, it was like, 12 minutes,” Walker told police.

“Don’t get all huffy and puffy because I’m not going to feel bad for you. I don’t care,” a firefighter told her.

The witness who called 911 said the child was in the car for at least 20 minutes and was screaming and crying. A store manager told police she had been in the store for nearly 30 minutes.

Lt. Dan Dietrich told WFTV, “She was complaining that the backseat of our patrol car was too hot on her way to the jail, and asked the officer to turn the AC up.”

The South Daytona Fire Department said the temperature in the car measured 107 degrees. The child was checked out by emergency medical services and determined to be okay.

Woman Arrested When Dog Dies in Hot Car Complains That She’s Too Hot in Back of the Squad Car

8/21/15 –

When an Orlando, Florida woman was arrested on animal cruelty charges after leaving her dog locked inside a crate in her car while she ran errands, she was placed in the backseat of a squad car, with the air conditioner on full blast, the rear windows completely rolled down.

That’s when 28-year old Jose Thomas, had the nerve to complain to the arresting officer that she was too hot in the backseat.

Just moments before her arrest, police arrived at Thomas’ vehicle to find her dog, Lily, unconscious on the sidewalk after a concerned bystander smashed a window and pulled the dog out of the car.

Lily had been left inside a crate on the backseat of Thomas’ vehicle for an undetermined length of time while Thomas ran errands.

Although police rushed Lily to an emergency veterinarian, the trauma to her body was too great and she had to be euthanized. Orlando Police Department Capt. Sue Brown paid for Lily’s care.

Thomas was arrested on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges and booked into the Orange County Jail. Police don’t believe Thomas intended to hurt her dog.

Chevy Silverado Driver Busted Towing 70-Foot Mobile Home on Rural Missouri Highway

This one really gets the old truck inspector in me worked up.

Usually, full-size mobile homes are transported by a tractor-trailer sporting an “OVERSIZED LOAD” sign with a chase vehicle in front or behind it. This job requires mapping out a route to avoid low bridges, sharp turns and low hanging power lines, and it’s almost always done during daylight hours. In specific cases, road signs need to be removed to allow wide loads to make turns. None of this was taken into consideration late Saturday night when a Chevrolet Silverado driver decided to tow a 70-foot long mobile home in the middle of the night.

Joplin First News was tipped off about a three-quarter-ton truck towing a single-wide home on a metal frame that was blocking an entire highway and quickly arrived at the scene. According to the live report, the truck left from somewhere in Kansas to reach its final destination in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Trouble started when it tried to make a downhill 90-degree turn onto Highway 86.

The mobile home bottomed out as the truck turned on to the highway, creating an unintentional roadblock. Authorities were notified of the situation after the local fire department came across the snafu while responding to a traffic accident and was forced to take an alternate route.

The Facebook live feed showed Metro Towing, the local fire department and the sheriff’s department surveying the situation to move the building off the highway. Apparently, it shut down the road for three hours starting around midnight.

While these antics are normally pulled by people who “only need to go a few miles,” this guy was driving across state lines. Considering the cost required to hire a moving company, this was probably a cost-saving decision. It’s also safe to assume is the main reason it was being moved at night—to fly under the radar.

Needless to say, the driver of the pickup truck is busted and will likely be subjected to hefty fines. And even though this was a dangerous and ultimately failed attempt to transport a huge load, it could be spun into a positive for Silverado owners who brag to Ford fanboys about their heavy-duty capabilities.

A Corrections acquaintance told me of the very large sign in the prisoner’s dayroom of the local Sheriff’s jail.

“Remember, your best thinking got you here.”

Just when we think to ourselves, “Man, just how stupid can people be?”, some dumbass takes it as a challenge. “Hold my brain and watch this!”

And the bitch that left the dog? Misdemeanor Animal Cruelty my ass! Bitch ought to be locked up for Felony Animal Murder. I do pray to God that she is never allowed to have any other dog for the rest of her sorry ass life.

That’s a lot of tires the cop smashed and he most likely didn’t tire out after the tire incident. He was off duty and in civilian A tire. I wonder if he has enough time to re tire after this and we will see how the wheels of justice turn out on this. WOW, I tired out texting this comment so maybe I will re tire to the recliner.

In defense of us Ford fans – WE don’t try to tow mobile homes at night.

On the other hand, I did see a Ford p/u being brought in to help an Army truck that had gotten stuck at Ft. Benning….

I don’t worry about getting the tow started… that’s easy. It’s getting it stopped that worries me.
