Man who called 911 after shooting wife had marijuana growing in his basement

A Hall County [Georgia] man who called 911 to report the accidental shooting of his wife was arrested Wednesday and now faces felony assault and drug charges after responding deputies found a marijuana growing operation in his home.

Steven Noel Turner, 43, of Gainesville, faces felony charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery with a gun, as well as drug possession with intent to distribute, Hall sheriff’s office spokesman Derreck Booth said. Turner was booked Wednesday into the Hall County Jail, where he remains without bond, online jail records show.

Turner’s 42-year-old wife, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach that was not considered life-threatening, Booth said. A statement from the sheriff’s office said she was in stable condition as of Thursday.

Alabama pedestrian shot, killed supposedly for crossing street too slowly

Ever been mad at a crossing pedestrian for slow rolling across? Yeah, me too, but for some reason I didn’t jump out and shoot the person eight times.

Johnarian Travez Allen was shot eight times on Thursday evening in Union Springs, a small town some 45 miles outside of Montgomery, WSFA 12 reported.

Jeremiah Wesley Penn claimed he shot Allen because the 29-year-old was taking too long to cross the street, according to Union Springs Police Chief Danny Jackson.

Florida woman arrested for alleged attack on dad for relentless flatulence

A Florida woman who fumed about her father’s farts has been arrested for allegedly battering him because of his relentless flatulence in their shared home, according to a report.

Nicole Dozois, 40, who lives with her 59-year-old dad in Largo, a city in the Tampa Bay area, raised a stink about his noxious emissions about 2 a.m. Sunday, The Smoking Gun reported.

She then allegedly punched him in the face “numerous times,” according to the outlet, which cited a police report.

Responding officers found the victim with “a bloodied left eye and scratches all over his neck as a result.”

A man was driving his Tesla on “autopilot mode” early Wednesday when he nearly missed hitting a Nash County deputy standing outside his cruiser – before crashing into patrol cars from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office and State Highway Patrol parked on the side of U.S. Highway 64.

Devainder Goli, a Raleigh doctor, was in the Tesla, watching a movie on his cell phone while his car drove itself, officials said.

The Tesla collided with the deputy’s car first, which then was pushed into the State Highway Patrol car from the impact.

The deputy was conducting a lane closure overnight on U-S 64, near Spring Hope, as a highway patrol trooper investigated a separate crash. Both the deputy and trooper were outside their cars.

“Luckily, the state trooper pushed our deputy out of the way when he heard the tires squall and in an instant we could have lost a life or several lives. It could have been very horrific,” said Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone.

Goli works at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids and was driving back to Raleigh when the accident occurred. He was charged with a move over violation and viewing a television device while driving.

I think the good doctor got off way too easy.
