The racist stone
There’s a stone marker in Missouri that’s drawing the usual revisionist history folks that want to forget our past so we can repeat it. This marker doesn’t even commemorate a battle, celebrate a Confederate general, or anything of the sort.
The Jefferson City Racial Equity Group, the NAACP, and some residents are against the marker. What has them all fired up?
The marker is a large brown stone on a gray stone base, bearing a plaque which reads “Deciding against attack, the Confederate Army under Gen. Sterling Price turned from Jefferson City October 7, 1864.”
In 1864, Confederate forces, led by Gen. Sterling Price, planned to attack Jefferson City in order to secure a possible victory and help turn the tide of the war, which at that point was leaning toward the Union, which eventually won.
Price did not have his troops attack the city due to the strength of Union forces in the area, leading the event to be referred to as “the battle that never was.”
The marker was dedicated April 6, 1933, by the Winnie Davis chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Recently, conversations have begun about the future of the marker, with opinions ranging from removal or relocation to the possibility of additional historical markers to add context or leaving the stone alone all together.
I thought we had a serious problem with systemic racism in the country? Must have solved it if they’re reduced to bickering over a rock that commemorates an event that never happened.

Every time I hear “people of color,” two things cross my mind:
1. When I was a kid, I was taught that it was racist and unacceptable to call someone “colored.”
2. It really just means “non-white,” so it’s either racist against whites, or it’s white-supremacist. Either way, it’s a fucking racist term.

I think they want all the memories of war to be erased so that kids won’t be triggered by the horrors. That way when they say it is just a demonstration, they won’t understand the difference!
“…additional historical markers to add context…” Uh, Yeah…no! You should see some of the “Historical Context” that has been added to markers all over. In many cases, factually wrong, even in Cemeteries where the marker is placed in respect to the dead.
Here’s some historical context for them; “On this site a Partially Black/East Asian descendant of a Black Man that owned other Black Men and Women that were sold by other Black Men performed oral sex on another Black Man in order to advance her agenda of keeping Blacks enslaved in economic bondage and historical social ignorance on the Democratic Party Plantation.”
See where I’m going with this. The destruction of Confederate History is important to them to keep people from leaning ALL of the History of, not only this Country, but the Slave Trade in particular. Blacks put Blacks in physical Bondage FIRST. Blacks have kept them in economic bondage since the start of Reconstruction.
There are none so blind as those that cannot see.

Byrd was a real piece of work. He dodged the draft during WWII because he refused to serve with blacks, even though blacks were segregated in the armed forces. I think in addition to being a little racist punk, Byrd was a gutless little coward…

A fitting “tribute” to Maj. Gen. Stirling Price, an incompetent and failure as a general officer leading large bodies of troops in time of war, and now only known and remembered because a cat was named after him in a fictional Hollywood movie…
The only good thing about Sterling Price was the beautiful commemorative sword custom made for him during the war. I saw it in a museum when I participated in a re-enactment of the battle of Wilson’s Creek in 1990.
