An Interview You May Enjoy

| August 16, 2020

I ran across this interview and video history online last night. I thought some of you might find it both entertaining and interesting.

It’s about how R. Lee Ermey made “Full Metal Jacket” real.  Pop some popcorn and grab a cold one, and have a good time.

Had seen this before a while back, but it was worth another look. Much respect for that Gentleman…and everything he did.

How many of us wayward boys of the 60s and early 70s flashed back to Basic when we FIRST saw Boys in Company C, or FMJ. Only difference then, for the most part, was the Drill Instructors wore an Army Uniform and might glance around quickly before slapping you upside the head.

Rest Easy Sgt Ermy, see you on the other side!

Interesting how he got into the military. I started in 74 and it took me, a dedicated recruiter and a probation officer that could see some potential, until 76 to get me into the Army. I’ve seen lots of people say felons shouldn’t be allowed into the military. I believe if properly screened that’s a fallacy. Everything lined up and I’ll always be thankful for the opportunity to invest 22 years into the service. And as to the recruiter, SFC Williams. I’ve kept his card all these years to remind me someone gave a damn.

Thank you for the link, that was a great watch. May R Lee RIP for eternity in His Kingdom.
