Thursday thrills

Thrills, meaning some little bits and updates.

Looks like the investigation into the Alex Pretti shooting is starting.

Two Border Patrol agents who opened fire following the altercation with Alex Pretti in Minneapolis have been placed on administrative leave, according to reports.

Placing the agents on leave is part of standard procedure as investigations into the 37-year-old’s death continue, the Department of Homeland Security told The Independent.

The White House has also removed Border Patrol “commander at large” Gregory Bovino from the city and sent border czar Tom Homan to take over. The Independent

Still seems to be an incendiary situation there. I am sure there will be those who see these steps as admissions of guilt, but to me the process looks like it is doing what it is supposed to.

Further left west, Eric Swallowswell Swalwell is threatening dire retribution against anyone associated with ICE.

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., appeared to say on Tuesday that if he is elected governor, former ICE agents would be forbidden any future employment or even driver’s licenses in California.

“And I have said that when I‘m governor of California, if you wear a mask in California, you‘re losing your driver’s license. If you have worked for ICE in the past, you are unhirable in our state. That law enforcement will prosecute you for kidnapping, battery, assault, murder on the people in our communities. Fox News

So the masked little old ladies who are still scared of Covid will no longer drive? He’s going to try and prosecute someone who may never have been in California for offenses against Californians he never committed? Eric, Eric… someone should have told you “it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you a fool that to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Speaking of that, one of Trump’s first reactions to the Pretti shooting was interesting:

Speaking with reporters Tuesday, Trump said he disagreed with White House adviser Stephen Miller’s baseless claim labeling Pretti a “would-be assassin.” But then he went on.

A reporter asked Trump how that squared with the Second Amendment. But Trump didn’t back down.

“You can’t walk in with guns, you can’t do that,” he said. “But it’s a very unfortunate incident.”

Trump then echoed the comments later that afternoon in Iowa.

“Certainly, he shouldn’t have been carrying a gun,” Trump said.

Trump added: “I don’t like that he had a gun. I don’t like that he had two fully loaded magazines. That’s a lot of bad stuff.”  CNN

He may be preferable to Biden but he will sell out the 2nd Amendment crowd in a heartbeat.

Indicators are that Trump aide Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller may wind up the sacrificial offering in all this. Just in the last couple of days:

Florida state Sen. Ileana Garcia (R), co-founder of Latinas for Trump, blasted President Trump’s immigration crackdown, warning he “will lose the midterms” because of White House adviser Stephen Miller.

Though Garcia was openly supportive of Trump’s plans to close the border, she placed blame on Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff, for the aggressive tactics used during the current crackdown.  The Hill

Miller, known widely for being opinionated and extremely abrasive (neither of which are unforgivable if you toe the party line) may have done the unthinkable. Contradicting Trump:

Top White House aide Stephen Miller said on Tuesday that agents in Minneapolis “may not have been following” proper protocol when they shot Alex Pretti, marking a stunning shift away from administration officials’ previous statements on the shooting.

“The White House provided clear guidance to DHS that the extra personnel that had been sent to Minnesota for force protection should be used for conducting fugitive operations to create a physical barrier between the arrest teams and the disruptors,” said Miller in a statement to CNN. “We are evaluating why the CBP team may not have been following that protocol.”  Mediaite

If nothing else, that will provide fodder for folks to scream how evil ICE, CBP, etc. broke procedures and protocols. Ain’t that a face made to slap?

And just to end on an upbeat: purportedly before the Snowmageddon storm some of us are still subject to:

On Thursday, Homeland Security officials instructed disaster response staff at the Federal Emergency Management Agency to avoid using the word “ice” in public messaging about the impending storm for an incredible reason, CNN reports: because of all the outrage surrounding the other ICE, the US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

According to the latest reporting, the sources claim the officials said to avoid phrasing like “watch out for ice,” arguing that the memes those could spawn would take away from the serious nature of the warnings.Futurism

“Freezing rain” was suggested as an alternative. Me, I always thought that was called “sleet.” Guess it’s time for some bourbon on freezing rain, huh…

Note: Any time is a good time for bourbon. With or without “freezing rain”.

Welllll my boss kinda frowns on bourbon during working hours, and I prefer Irish, but I ain’t picky. If you’re pouring bourbon, I’m drinking bourbon. Gotta have some corn in your diet, ya know.

Savages.

I will stick with my Laphroaig and McCallan. Seriously, if you are going to be stuck inside on an icy wintry day, Some Aberdeen Angus beef stew with some barley bread pairs best with single malt. Although the bourbon has kept Keith Richards alive for the last 125 years.

SFC D

I just never acquired a taste for scotch. I’m completely on board with the stew and bread, though.

E.

It is a preservative.

Since Keith Richards and Willie Nelson have both outlived Richard Simmons, I’m rethinking this whole “healthy living through diet and exercise” thing.

The “ice” bit reminded me of this: https://youtu.be/efiW2K8gASM?si=EvEWtw106JzzFaaL

My, My, My

The Driving Ice storm has caused all kinds of accidents fueled by blowing ice, which apparently woke up Ice’s inner prankster—turning Plano Texas into a slip-n-slide where cars pirouette like confused ballerinas and residents waddle outside like cautious penguins clutching coffee. Ice has taken over the town, frosting lawns, sidewalks, and egos alike, reminding everyone that Texas may do heat, but when Ice visits, it does so with cowboy boots on and zero chill.

Round two? Three? We haven’t seen anything like this since 1982. I’m far South enough to not be affected but everything North of me is covered in ice. Ironically 1982 was also the last time a plane crashed into the Potomac. I’ve got a lot of family snowed and iced in. Mississippi still hasn’t got the lights on from the last ice storm.

And I remember last year the WX people were saying that 2026 would be a little milder in the temp range. It’s 64 Deg. in my South Florida enclosed porch typing this out wearind a tee shirt under a Northface pullover, under an LlBean wool shirt jac that was actually made in the USA back in the day when most everything was made in the USA and a pair of dungarees with the cuffs rolled up 1950’s style.. 68 Deg. right now and the up north Snowbirds are walking around the lake in tee shirts/sweaters and shorts…

jeff LPH 3 63-66

jeff LPH 3 63-66

Not ready for dare care yet, I’m only one year older than 79.LoL 69 outside and 68 in the enclosed porch.at least the temp didn’t go down to zero point dip shit

jeff LPH 3 63-66

Here comes the same guy jogging around the lake wearing just shorts. All year round every morning he jogs with only shorts on. Got to be originally from eastern Europe

UpNorth

Our windchill projection for tomorrow here in Mid-Michigan is -24. And windy, sounds boring, it’s been basically the same prediction for 2 weeks Unfortunately, the weather guessers have been mostly correct on these days.

Knew a guy in the e Old Guard who helped out in rescuing those folks from the Potomac crash. Can see him in the movie “Gardens of Stone”, as lot of the extras were Old Guard.

was in Austin Texas back in 2010 for the National Hurricane Conference and I only saw one or two people wearing cowboy hats and boots. everyone else were college kids with skin whiter than the screen I’m typing on plus some Girls with tattoos. Brisket and toast were great.

Well, it’s a little like that. The store being out when going to pick up a few things on the way home because it might snow is a thing though.

Austin, Texas, unfortunately, is not an accurate representation of Texas.

More like a skin cancer on the face of Texas. Needs some MOHS surgery.

Predicting the party in power after a presidential election will lose the mid terms is kind of like predicting I will get robo spam calls today. In the last 20 midterms they have lost 18 of them.

Old tanker

I understand the administration’s desire to comment in a “positive” manner regarding Pretti’s shooting but I think it would have been far better to not be premature in the conclusion and advise everyone to wait until the investigation is done.

Also given that that was not the first time Pretti involved himself in a violent manner regarding ICE / BP, I have to agree with Trump. He really should not have brought a gun with him since he is pretty obviously part of the violent side of the “peaceful protesting”. Having a gun while interfering in the operations of ICE / BP is both stupid and criminal increasing the risk to everyone in the area.

E.

I read that his parents realized he was teetering on the brink of stupidity and attempted to persuade him to calm down and stay away from that scene. But did baby boy listen? Fools rush in …

That’s what wise men say.

Smallwell doesn’t even live in California. There is a lot of that in Congress, they get elected and then move to the metro area, never to return to wherever they came from, short of having a temporary office rental to establish an address for their constituents.

Swallowfella looks like he could work the service plaza people without a dumpster to hide behind.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

is swallowell waiting for someone to put something in his open mouth??????????

Forest Bondurant

His expression is that of someone taking it in the squeakhole.

Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

Dear Swallowswell,
Does your ban on masks and threats of losing one’s drivers’ license for wearing a mask……does this extend to PantyFags and #BurnLootMurder? Especially when they’re on a “mostly peaceful protest”? Just curious. Not that I ever plan on ever being in Kalifornication for any reason whatsoever at any time.

A tweet from March 4, 2020, from his account read, “Stop wearing face masks. #coronavirus”

In May 2020, he stated there should be “no stigma attached to wearing a mask this is about protecting people”

He criticized President Trump for not wearing a mask, telling him to “wear the damn mask” in a June 2020 tweet.

In July 2020, Swalwell called for a nationwide mask mandate, stating that people should not be allowed in public places without a mask.

In January 2026 Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Castro Valley, pledging to restrict ICE agents from all state jobs if elected governor. He also said he would take away the driver’s licenses of federal agents in the state who are working while covering their faces behind masks.

This is clearly a man obsessed with controlling people and face coverings.

I guess ole Mr. Fang Fang has never read, or heard of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Personal Rights, Liberty, etc.!?what a POS! I’m sure that Cali will usher him right in!!!!

First, Swallowswell, the Fang Fang fucker, is highly unlikely to be elected governor. Second, the laws he thinks he will pass are what are known as bills of attainder and violate the Equal Protection Clause of the US Constitution. This just shows how clueless he is, and how incompetent he is as a lawmaker.

A Proud Infidel®™

IMO He’s an idiot Primadonna who craves attention like a spoiled toddler does candy!

UpNorth

I doubt that Swallowswell even rises to the level of idiot primadonna or spoiled toddler.

A Proud Infidel®™

Has anyone noticed that among the crowds of “protestors” in Minne Mogadishu, we don’t see even a SINGLE damned Somali?

SFC D

All I see is angry white people.

rgr769

The Somalis, other than the brother fucker, are all keeping a low profile. They don’t want anyone focusing on them and how they make a living. A great many of them are in on the government programs grift.

Odie

All the more reason to keep the heat on them. Bring them all down, whether their enablers or benefactors be republican or democrat.
