Scotty sends us another phony Marine from his own research. William Blake apparently took Grenada back from the Cubans all by himself even though he looks like Zippy the Pinhead in a steel pot. For future reference Bill, Grenada was the first battle in which the US troops wore kevlar hear gear.

It turns out that he was a brig rat and discharged as an E-1 private three weeks before the Beirut bombing and the Grenada Invasion.

FOIA is the acronym for “Freedom Of Information Act”. In layman’s terms, this 1970s law prescribes that in general Federal records are to be open to the public unless one of a number of specified exceptions apply.
Certain portions of a veteran’s military records are exempt for release under the FOIA and may be released only with the consent of the veteran or his/her next of kin. However, selected information is considered public record information and may be released to the public if available with or without the consent of the veteran. These elements are
– Name
– Service Number (NOT the SSN; these were discontinued in the 1970s)
– Dates of Service
– Branch of Service
– Final Duty Status
– Final Rank
– Salary
– Assignments and Geographical Locations
– Source of Commission
– Military Education Level
– Promotion Sequence Number
– Awards and decorations (eligibility only, not actual medals)
– Photograph
– Transcript of Courts-Martial Trials
– Place of entrance and separation
If the veteran is deceased,the following additional information may be released (if available):
– Place of birth
– Date and geographical location of death
– Place of burial

What this means is that anyone who asks can find out whether or not Blake actually served in the military; when and where he served; what rank he was when he left service; what medals he rates; if he was ever courts-martialed; and a fair amount of other information. They just need to know who to ask and to have enough information to identify Blake.
That’s already been done once. The first time, the answer came back “no records found”. A follow-up request, submitted with more information about Blake, is now in process.

I served a single enlistment as an 11B in the ARNG in peacetime a long time ago I was a nobody in the military and I know it. I make no claim otherwise. My respect for those who make the military a career and/or serve under hostile fire is immeasurable. I can’t imagine applying for a job and claiming status for something I did not do. Nor could I imagine sitting down and attempting to bullsh1t my way through a conversation with the very men and women who have done the things I did not. My dad never served because he had a heart murmur but he was an honest hard working construction worker who believed you told the truth and when you shook someone’s hand you gave them your word as an honorable man or woman and you didn’t lie. The military reinforced those ideals in my mind. What kind of people are creating the William Blakes and the other phonies that seem so prevalent here? Do we have that many families where the values of truth and honorable action are no longer important that we now have this endless stream of lying 4ssholes? I hope that is not the case, but with less than 1% serving and I think someone said 1 out of 150 families touched by someone serving it makes me think we have reached a point where far more people are only interested in serving their own selfish interests and not that of the greater good by working in their communities, or in service to the nation. And lying and acting dishonorably to get the things you want seem to be more in favor than not to me at times. The idiots in the USPS in St Louis apparently couldn’t find the NPRC and returned my follow-up FOIA request. (Yes, the address I used was correct – I double-checked it.)
I’ve been there myself; NPRC’s building’s pretty damn big and kinda hard to miss. I guess the guy delivering mail that day must have been hung over.
The follow-up FOIA request has been resent, but due to USPS incompetence I’ve lost over a week.

Regarding my pending FOIA on Blake: we’ll see what it says when NPRC’s reply comes back. Since that FOIA request used the same SSN as the first, I’m guessing it will also come back “no records found” – but NPRC has surprised me before.
If the follow-up also comes back negative, I’ll file a second follow-up, sans SSN. But either way, I’ll post the results here.
And if both the FOIA and it’s follow-up come back showing what I half expect, Blake can indeed expect a call – or perhaps a visit. But that call or vist will be from someone other than me.

@ Hondo …. I just figured it out. Tim Ramey and Mikey G Boy and the lost twins. Separated early in life after a tragic fire in their parent’s double wide trailer (vintage meth lab), the twins were sent to a group home for unusual young boys (if you know what I am talking about). While there they honed their social and coping skills. Cut loose at 17 they both joined the military and completed underwhelming careers (6 – 18 months long careers) with little or no contribution to the overall military mission. Now they are world famous … activist bent on pretending they know what they are talking about …. drowned out by their vulgarity and pure ineptitude.
