Deputies investigating whether South Carolina shooting was self defense
A Kershaw County man was shot after an argument, and deputies are now investigating whether the shooting was a crime or a case of self-defense.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into a Wednesday afternoon shooting is still underway as deputies work to determine whether the shooting was a crime or self-defense.

Sheriff Lee Boan shared new details on Friday afternoon regarding the shooting that happened in the 2400 block of Haile Street near Camden, as deputies work through additional details. The sheriff said the two people involved in the shooting incident, a visitor and a homeowner, had a longstanding friendship leading up to the shooting.

“They’ve gone back for years, and their families have gone back for years,” the sheriff said. “Really good friendship; really long-term friendship between both people involved.”

But an argument over the phone allegedly led to the face-to-face confrontation at the resident’s home.

Based on preliminary details, Sheriff Boan said the resident exited the home with a gun and told the visitor to leave. However, as the visitor was going to his vehicle, the resident allegedly opened fire, striking the victim twice.

“At some point, while the visitor is going back to his truck. The resident felt the need to fire shots at our visitor, striking him multiple times,” the sheriff said. “Now, in all fairness, there was a firearm inside a visitor’s vehicle located in the center console.”

Investigators said the resident then left the scene.

Man armed with machete confronts Conroe police officer in park

CONROE, Texas — A 32-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after being shot by a Conroe police officer Monday evening when he allegedly swung a machete and moved toward the officer in MLK Park, according to the Conroe Police Department.

The incident happened around 7:44 p.m. on June 9, after multiple 911 calls reported a man armed with a machete walking through MLK Park on Avenue M, swinging the weapon.

When a patrol officer arrived and attempted to talk to the man, identified as Zachary Raychel, police say he ignored commands and continued to swing the machete while yelling, “shoot me.” As he moved toward the officer, the officer, fearing for his safety, fired a single round, striking Raychel.

Raychel was given immediate life-saving aid and transported to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.

KHOU!

Big knives don’t make much difference to a gun and KHOU is there. Thanks, Gun Bunny.

Bringing a gun to a gunfight. How novel.
A lead infusion destroys more friendships.

“SHOOT ME! SHOOT ME!”
And then acts all surprised and butthurt when the po-po shoots him. Sheesh!

Lack of “impulse control” will destroy a friendship in record time too, Tox. Knowing that AO as well as I do, I’ll go out on a limb and say it was “the usual suspects…doing the usual things”.

Nice of the LEO to do what the nutjob asked him to do. Reckon that’s the “Serve” part of “Protect and Serve”.

I was allowed to have the “Lincoln Deringer” in my hand when it was part of a traveling exhibit back in ’82. A tiny, puny looking piece that had such a large effect on the course of history. Damn shame that Booth was allowed to pull that trigger.

True dat. Zachary did not ask to be killed, only to be shot.

When Zach gets the bill for the ambulance he may go back for a “touch up”

MLK park, showing the content of he character.

Conroe, Texas used to be a nice place.
Uncontrolled growth, a large number of which is either undocumented Latin-American immigrants or welfare dependents, and an overflow from Houston’s liberal Soros-DA clowns, has made it less than nice.

Sounds like Zachary Raychel was having a mental breakdown (the heat’ll do that to some folks), good on the LEO on doing a take-down shot, give him a chance to get the help he needs. Or to get shot again, his choice.

With “friends” like those in South Carolina, who needs enemies? Man, years long relationships with their families, destroyed in the heat of anger. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
