Supposedly 100s of protests planned for Saturday
People across the country are planning “No Kings Day of Defiance” protest in response to Donald Trump acting, well, like Donald Trump.
Except they see it as vastly more sinister:
Organizers behind the “No Kings” movement are calling the protests a reaction to the large military parade taking place in Washington, D.C., on Saturday in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. It’s estimated the parade will cost around $45 million, potentially more since the Army has to pay for any damage its vehicles do to the streets.
So it is not a nationwide anti-ICE protest, it’s a protest against the Army’s birthday? Like to see a list of folks bankrolling the organizers.
“Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display for dominance for his birthday,” “No Kings” says on its website. “No thrones, no crowns, no kings.”
Over 180 progressive groups are listed on the website as partners who have helped organize the upcoming events and have sent members to work with “local partners to ensure peaceful and powerful actions” in designated locations throughout the U.S.
The “No Kings” protests were announced by the groups involved in early May, but recent events have driven more people to join the movement. Ezra Levin, the co-executive director of Indivisible, one of the groups involved in organizing “No Kings,” talked to Rachel Maddow on MSNBC on Monday about how Trump’s response to protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Los Angeles caused the traffic to the “No Kings” website to skyrocket.
“Of those 1,800 [‘No Kings’ protests], more than 100 of those have been added to the map since Trump announced that he was sending the National Guard to L.A.,” Maddow told viewers. “If [Trump] was hoping to get people to not protest, it’s backfiring.”
Okay, my math is a bit rusty, but to me 1700 to 1800 sounds like a less-than-6% rise, not a “skyrocket”.
While there are protests scheduled throughout the country, there is intentionally nothing organized for the Washington, D.C., area for Saturday. The flagship march and rally will instead be in Philadelphia, the “No Kings” website says.
“Real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else,” the organizers wrote. “On June 14, we’re showing up everywhere [Trump] isn’t.”
Am I the only one thinking this is like racing someone who isn’t aware he is in a race? I once outran a Lambo… passed him like he was almost standing still. The fact that my econobox had front-wheel drive and it was snowing…we won’t go into that. I think maybe they are taking Trump’s threat seriously.
As of reporting, the group expects around 1,800 rallies to take place on Saturday, with events planned in all 50 states but not Washington, D.C. Trump told reporters on Tuesday that anyone protesting the Army’s parade “will be met with very big force.” Yahoo News
Looking at the graphic, this should be very interested. I see many, many in areas where rednecks really predominate (and are armed) – could be an interesting Saturday.

Yesterday and Today I was cleaning and organizing my collected hand tools from the last 40 years or so. The rusty China stuff went straight in the trash, the US and European tools went into a vinegar bath.
For a giggles I threw a couple of China tools into the vinegar bath just to see. But I was pretty sure what was going to happen.
Today I was organizing. The original Craftsman and Husky tools (US made) were wipe clean and removed all rust and corrosion. Looked almost new. The French, low quality US tools and Japanese tools were a little pitted but serviceable. The Chinese tools had the surfaces eaten away and looked like they had served six years in Iraq. One still has red rust on it even though it has been soaking 24 hours?
But the Harvard educates Indians sold Craftsman off and now they are Chinese too.
They will have the old retired California transplants waving anti Trump signs and the young fat lesbians and trannies along the road up here. They do not have the guts to try anything seeing how ALOT of people are armed around here.

Well, as far as I know, The District of Columbia remains a federal district. Parades, festivals, 4th of July and all.
Other other geo-political authorities and issue parade permits, if they so desire. I think that they should with ordinary permit processes.
But, the moment that anyone violates that permit or transgresses against town regulations, rules or local law enforcement, swoop down and open a party size can of whoop ass and apply it generously.
