Woman stabs roommate to death in self-defense, Mobile police say

Police say a woman acted in self-defense when she fatally stabbed her roommate at their apartment in Mobile over the weekend.According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing at One Ten Apartments near the University of South Alabama campus around 6:32 p.m. on Sunday
Officers found two women who were injured.
Joirdan Jones, 22, died after being taken to a hospital, police said in a statement. Her mother was also stabbed and injured, according to police.
“The investigation revealed Joirdan and her mother were at the location retrieving Joirdan’s belongings when an argument ensued with Joirdan’s former roommate,” the department said. “The argument turned physical, causing the roommate to defend herself by arming herself with a knife, ultimately stabbing Joirdan and the mother.”
Police did not release the roommate’s name, as she was not charged.
They said the case will be turned over to prosecutors to be presented to a grand jury.

Akron smoke shop employee shot while working Tuesday when 3 suspects broke in, police say

A 20-year-old man was hospitalized the morning of June 10 after being shot while working overnight at a smoke shop, Akron police Lt. Michael Murphy said in a press release.Officers responded to reports of the shooting in the 1600 block of Brittain Road at about 1:08 a.m., finding the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his right leg. Officers rendered emergency aid and he was transported to Summa Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police determined that the victim had fallen asleep while working at Red Eye Smoke Shop when three unidentified suspects broke the front window of the store with a rock and entered the building. Once inside, they fired multiple shots at the victim, striking him in the leg.
The victim returned fire at the suspects who subsequently fled the area.
Akron police are investigating the incident. More than a dozen shell casings were collected from the scene as evidence.

But noooooooo! That was toooo simple. They had to “chimp out” and play the FA card. Roomie had the right response and trumped them both with the FO “Grand Slam”.

I also wonder if it was this behavior that led to the initial split up in the first place?
No need to worry about moving out the rest of ex-roomie’s stuff now. Thrift shop or dumpster.

I still grieve for my repro Colt’s Pocket Police that I didn’t get custody of. “Some burglars broke in and stole it, a long with the other firearms…” Odd that these same burglars didn’t take any of her jewelry…that I had paid for…or the electronics and cameras. It was the 5 shot, fluted barrel, .36 caliber built by Navy Arms. Had the walnut presentation case, all the tools, bullet mold, spare nipples, and only cost me $75 in 1982. Very concealable in a shoulder rig, accurate as all hell, and fun to shoot. Percussion caps have gotten rather spendy of late. Not so very long ago one could get a tin of 100 #10s or #11s for less than $5. They are north of $15 these days. Winged musket caps are north of $20 per hundred.

ok, so did the cop have really GOOD shot placement, or really BAD? I always thought they wee trained for center mass.. of course it was a running target… either way, threat stopped, so win for the girl in blue!
Same. When one shot nailed him I thought “Good shot”. Then I heard head shot and thought “Lucky shot”. Either way, end result is the same. She dropped him like a bad habit.
Hard to tell what she was aiming for. He was running directly toward her, closing fast, so if she knows what she’s doing that head shot may have been intentional, or he may have ducked into an upper torso shot.
Either way, threat neutralized quite effectively.
If my guess is correct about where that walkway is in Houston, then the neighborhood is been a cesspool for decades. Not a good place to be, day or night.
I only heard one shot (which was’t loud; wonder if the microphone is limited).
