700 Marines deployed to LA to respond to immigration protests

LOS ANGELES — About 700 Marines have been ordered to deploy to Los Angeles to help National Guard members respond to immigration protests, U.S. Northern Command announced Monday, as California prepared to sue President Donald Trump over his use of Guard troops to confront the protesters.
The Marines are assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, based out of Twentynine Palms, California, U.S. Northern Command said in a release. The Marines will integrate with the National Guard troops “who are protecting federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area,” U.S. Northern Command said. The deployment was first reported by CNN.
The California attorney general said the president’s actions had “trampled” the state’s sovereignty.
Naw, California ceded its sovereignty long ago when Dems declared it a sanctuary state and now are reaping the benefits of that decision. Typical of Military Times to post an AP article instead of doing actual journalism- their laziness and bias shine though.

But the protest overall was non violent and nowhere near the level of mayhem that happens anytime a city wins a sports championship.
I have quite a few friends in LA, a few reached out to me when the guard was deployed to ask what I thought of it. They all said the protests were overwhelmingly peaceful and did not disrupt LA. There was no reason to deploy the national guard.
There was absolutely no need for Trump to violate the state’s 2nd amendment right and take control over part of their National Guard without cause and without a request by the governor.
Once he did that he escalated and turned the protest into a protest against Trump’s authoritarian nature and his pre planned and openly discussed agenda to use the military on American streets in blue cities against liberals. In response to Trump’s revelation, and in defiance of his repeated effort to grab more power and act extrajudicially against political opponents – including ordinary citizens, the protests swelled about 300%.
And then LAPD did what LAPD does they escalated further… creating incidents of abuse that went viral and drew more protestors that turned out to protest against the LAPD.

They haven’t engaged with any citizens unless they were trespassing or trying to damage a federal building, in which case they were turned over to local law enforcement. California has a National Guard and a California State Guard. They frequently deploy the later to deal with the many state created ecological disasters such as fires, riots and mud slides. The California Guard isn’t subject to Federal call up. Unlike many other SDFs it is armed.

I’ve no issue with National Guard under Federal control being used to defend lives and property. In light of posse comitatus I’m a bit unsure of the US of Marines.
I realize there have been a number of changes in the last couple decades so perhap some research on my part is necessary.
The MSM was already bitching a bout the cost of the marines being called up. Ironically, no mention nor complaints about how much Ukraine cost supplying them with weapons.
Oh the fiscal mismanagement of the current administration.
2/7 is an active duty unit. Essentially they are a sunk cost so the MSM is harping on nothing. Granted they will not be working on their combat skills while performing that ancililiary dut. MSM should make an argument about impacts to readiness not cost.
Impacts to readiness would require some actual investigative reporting.
Marines have been called up on before during periods of civil unrest, but there are limitations to what they’re authorized to do.
