Well, just got back from Barnes and Noble with the kids and no one elected to show up. Maybe the driving directions weren’t specific enough or I should have clarified that Barnes and Noble is a bookstore. A place that sells the written word seems to be a foreign concept based on the poor writing skills of K2B, DUI, Dude. schizophrenic guy. Oh well.

Actually, Knees2TheBreeze and The Dude, Jonn has a valid claim to being entitled to call himself a “Ranger” since he served in a Ranger unit for an extended period of time. That’s one generally accepted rationale for a valid claim of being a “Ranger”; the other is attending Ranger school. And as I recall, Jonn’s been very open and above-board in identifying the fact that he never went to Ranger school and doesn’t have a Ranger tab. You both just need to STFU on this issue. You’re only making yourselves look like complete idiots by continuing to claim that “Lilyea lied”. The record demonstrates he did not. And regarding that bogus “couldn’t hack it” claim – again, that’s also provably bullshit. If that were the case, Jonn wouldn’t have lasted 6 months in a Ranger battalion. He’d have been shipped down the street to the 24th ID pronto. Ranger units are fairly ruthless about getting rid of non-performers. Here’s why Jonn never got the chance to go to Ranger school. As I’ve noted elsewhere (and if I’m incorrect, Ranger unit folks please correct me): it’s my understanding that Ranger units of that day (and today) would maintain an internal OML for Ranger and other hard-to-get school quotas. Three significant factors in determining who gets the slots are (1) grade (higher grade means the individual needs leadership training like Ranger school more), (2) demonstrated potential, and (3) time in unit (been here longer gets the nod if all else is equal). That’s the way most units allocate hard-to-get quotas for schools, by the way. The fact that Jonn could indeed “hack it” is shown by the fact that he was kept by his Ranger Bn vice being shipped down the street, so (2) was obviously not an issue. That leaves (1) and (3). Jonn was junior, so that takes care of (1). And as I recall from talking to colleagues that had been in Ranger units, it wasn’t all that uncommon (and still isn’t) for junior guys to spend 1 or 2 years waiting for a Ranger school slot.
