PD: Woman released after shooting, killing her boyfriend in north Phoenix

By Gibby Parra and Mitchell Koch
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A woman is no longer in police custody as officers investigate what led up to her shooting and killing her boyfriend Monday morning in north Phoenix, police said.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. near 22nd Avenue and Butler Drive, which is north of Northern Avenue. Police said there was some sort of fight between the unidentified woman and 46-year-old Tony Garcia that led to the gunshot.

Police arrived and detained the woman. Garcia was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Detectives said they consulted with prosecutors and released the woman from custody while they continue to investigate the situation. No other details were released as the investigation is ongoing, police said.

I’d say the little lady had enough of his abuse and will hopefully upgrade to a better class of boyfriend. Thanks, Gun Bunny.
