Weekend Open Thread
This image captures one of the reasons conservatives are cheering the release of many federal employees. The Reddit user lamented how the agency went about discharging federal employees. The Redditor followed up by describing this event as a dark day for the foreign service and for the United States. However, taking a trip down memory lane shows us an example of what taxpayers were paying this individual to do. Enjoy your weekend!

Firts
First?
Cong-Rats on being “Firts” Tallywhagger, It’s 5:55 PM and I just got on the site. Still haven’t bought the Magic-8 Ball yet…
Firts???
Fingers can only go so fast!
That’s what she said.
Hack Stone was the first to post “First”. Send it to the booth for review.
Works for me, have at it! You can be first.
Google AI, which is never wrong, says when you Google Firts;
Pull my finger and see what kinda of noise you get for being fir ts, sounds like art.
You go, don’t let Hack spoil the party.
http://youtu.be/Jy6AOGRsR80?t=26
……. Firts? Whatever, you got it!
If the shoe firts…
And a new meme is born.
Just for you, Tallywhagger 😘🤣.
Very late better than never on the road for four hours, but home safe and sound and car in the shop and a new haircut.
Everybody enjoy your weekend, fuck nuggets!!! 😜
Drats! Foiled again!
First!
What’s fair is fair, I herewith concede First to Hack Stone!
We can be “co-first commenters”, much like Hillary Clinton said that she was “Co-President” when Bill brought his Hillbilly Playboy persona to Washington DC.
I think I already know who will be running the autopen and passing out the pardons.
Well, earlier this afternoon Hack Stone received a phone call informing him that he just won $3,500,000, so he will be too busy to reign over the unwashed masses known as the Deplorable Garbage as he moves funds around to buy up stock in a proud but humble woman owned business that sells overpriced and outdated Red Hat Software.
That Nigerian prince finally came through for ya?
Ed McMahon never worked for Publisher’s Clearing House.
This guy did not sound like Ed McMahon.
Blame it on the Howie Mandel Effect.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ed-mcmahon-publishers-clearing-house/
That is trippy. I believe he worked for them all of this time, up until this thread.
Second.
I was going to be second, but the site said I was going to fast with posting 😡
Same here. Just part of the patriarchy that keeps us working Joes in our place.
Working Joes? I’m unemployed and go to school, though I suppose my saving grace is that it’s not for a gender studies degree (though, to my chagrin, I do have a cousin who decided to go for that Starbucks degree).
I have no degree in gender studies, although I did a lot of field work in female studies.
In my bachelor days, I proudly referred to myself as an Amateur Gynecologist!
😆 🤣 😂
That was the next-level course 😉
Somehow, I knew one of you guys would say this 😆
Was it a paid position?
Occasional dinner with a view?
Occasionally, dinner AND breakfast.
Lol WTF?! 😆
Bush pilot wings
“No muff too tuff, we dive at five!”
My egg McMuffin is never gonna taste the same.
Working Joes? I played Army for decades and then played cops and robbers for another decade plus. Now I hang out at a school part time to make sure the teachers don’t get infections from paper cuts. I don’t think I have worked a single day since 1988.
I got that same message. Never seen it before.
It told me I was posting spam and then disappeared the message.
While they sort out the mess that Tallywhagger created by pronouncing himself “Firts”, allow Hack to contribute a meme that he created.
This one always makes me giggle
Looks like Hank has yet another guitar for this concert.
During his infamous “Guam is going to tip over” Congressional moment, Hack Stone is amazed that the Admiral did not stop speaking, stare at the esteemed Congressman for a solid minute, then ask “Are you the best and brightest in your Congressional District?”
Steve Miller band looking for someone to be their new front man.
It might be time for Steve to “rest”, anyway. No one played more shows at the Fillmore than Steve Miller, at least 400 shows.
Over the past at least 15 years he’s been playing the gambling casino routes and hosting folks his age and older! At the point, if anyone ever played on of his songs wrong no one would not notice.
Not First.
Again.
Not even when I am on leave.
Happy Friday, you gents! Hope you had a good week. So, not too much happening with me, besides the mid terms (I got a 70%. Damn it!). I also went to the Rock Bottom Bar to have a drink with Fyrefighter and I really enjoyed myself. It was the first time I met anyone from TAH in person and I’m glad I did. Here’s a picture from the bar of a particular aircraft that enjoys a good amount of popularity from Men and women, no matter what branch of the military:
Spam time.
Any news on UFOs?
Haven’t seen Lou Elizondo making a fool of himself in a couple weeks.
Is the guy really a veteran? He posted a pic in winter BDUs, with german traffic signs behind, claiming it was in Iraq.
After you have been rectally probed by aliens so many times you start to slip a little. But I wonder, is it still rape if you enjoy it? Asking for a friend from Berkely.
Cattle mutilations are up.
Maybe he DID get abducted, and was anal probed to the point where it gave him brain damage?
Here’s a short story that I remember being on the back of my Sailors Bible that my aunt got me shortly before I went into the Navy. It concerns the essence of what our country’s military is and what it should always be about. Written by US Army Captain Stu Weber:
Thanks. Something I had never seen before
Man of the In-Between
https://www.ocfusa.org/2009/05/man-between-2/
You’re welcome.
Big Hooah! there. I cannot put enough upvotes on it.
Good one. Would that others give it a read, there are many patrons here that will appreciate it.
And, for the general entertainment of you gents, here is the funniest line in cinema history and it was improvised (all I have to say is: military bearing):
Here’s a video from the Babylon Bee about what happens when a dumb liberal goes back in time to kill the angry, mustached Austrian painter. Fun fact: The painter was actually on the left wing, but he was admittedly to the right of every commie’s favorite holodomor loving, Great Purgin’, mustached “man” of “steel.” Anyway, enjoy:
^
Undid Iridium
Dude, that was brilliant!
Great find.
I am sending that video to everyone!
Doesn’t matter who comes first…….
That’s not what she said…
😂 😂🤣🤣
Tallywhagger is firts for this week! Not sure exactly what that means, but hey … it works. Meanwhile, I want to make sure you all get your weekly dose of trivial nonsense, so read on!
DID YOU KNOW…?
What was the longest recorded year in human history?

And we’re up to our knees in summertime, enjoying the season. I hope you’ve had a chance to go on your vacation, and if you haven’t yet done so, that you’ll get to enjoy one very soon.
Vacation … there’s a word I don’t use very often. I like working, apparently. Maybe, as many of my friends have told me repeatedly, I need my head examined.
They once took x-rays of my head and found nothing. (Apologies to Yogi Berra for that one.)
Okay, enough old jokes. Let’s get to some new trivia.
Did you know …
… Britain’s World War II Prime Minister was half American? Winston Churchill (1874-1965) was the son of Jeanette Jerome Churchill (1854-1921), who was born in Brooklyn, New York. In 1963, Churchill was given the extremely rare honor of honorary American citizenship – one of only eight people in U.S. history who have received that honor. (And one of those who definitely deserved it.)
… a Thanksgiving classic dish was invented in 1955? Green bean casserole, a staple of most U.S. Thanksgiving tables, was invented by Dorcas Reilly (1926-2018) while she was working at the test kitchens of the Campbell’s Soup Company in Camden, New Jersey. (I love me some green bean casserole!)
… you have ancient DNA inside of you? Worse than that, it isn’t even human DNA. Researchers tell us that about 8% of our DNA is made of ancient viruses that have allowed our bodies to have automatic protection or even immunity from some illnesses. Most of those viruses died out a long, long time ago, but the remnants – called endogenous retroviruses – still play a role in preventing or even causing some diseases. (Hey, whatever works!)
… a fad designed to help promote safe driving may have caused more problems than it solved? Back in the 1980s, drivers began placing “Baby on Board” signs on their vehicles, ostensibly to let people know that there was (of all things) a baby in the car. But one out of every 20 drivers said the signs obscured their vision and even caused accidents. (You know what they say about “good intentions,” don’t you?)
… the word “verb” is actually a noun? (English is so confusing.)
… the longest recorded year in human history was 46 BC? First, of course, a reality check – the length of a year is something fixed at a level far, far above humanity. But as we maintain records of such things, the year 46 BC ended up lasting 445 days. The reason? The calendar being used by the Romans changed. Prior to that year, the Roman calendar was based on cycles of the Moon. Roman dictator Julius Caesar (100 BC-44 BC) realized that the lunar and solar years had gotten way off track, and he extended the year 46 BC until they were again synchronized, which took a total of 445 days. The Julian calendar became the standard in Rome and elsewhere until the 16th Century, when the Gregorian calendar (which we now use) was implemented to correct an 11-day error that had developed since Caesar’s calendar was introduced. (I always wondered what photos Roman calendars had on them.)
… one nation bans television advertising on special holidays? In New Zealand, advertising on TV is banned on Christmas, Easter, Good Friday, and ANZAC Day, which is a special holiday commemorating all Australians and New Zealanders who served in war – kind of a combination of the United States’ Veterans Day and Memorial Day. (You know, I kind of like that idea.)
… most of the money in the world is not backed by anything? Called “fiat money,” most of the currencies used in the world today are not backed by gold or other metals. It has a value that is accepted simply because the issuing government says it’s worth what they say it’s worth. (Gee, imagine if Monopoly money had that kind of backing! Well, in the game, it does.)
… Australian Aborigines have a form of execution that is totally based in the mind? If an Aborigine commits an offense worthy of death, the offender is cursed by other members of his community – and within a few days, the offender dies, because they believe so strongly in the ritual curse. No medical cause of death can be determined in most cases. The Aborigines call it being “sung.”
… kissing can cause you to go deaf? (Huh?)
… the first ruler to put his or her face on a coin was a Persian? Tissaphernes (445 BC-395 BC), a ruler of Lydia, part of Persia, was the first to have his own likeness stamped into a coin. Other rulers throughout Persia followed suit. Additional trivia note: The first Greek ruler to use his own face on coins was Alexander the Great (356 BC-323 BC). Prior to his rule, Greek coins bore the faces of gods or goddesses. (Bonus points if you can pronounce “Tissaphernes.”)
… the Hollywood Walk of Fame has stars devoted to 17 fictional characters? Among the many stars of movies, television, radio, and recordings who are honored on the Walk of Fame you will find, in chronological order of dedication: Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Snow White, Woody Woodpecker, Big Bird, The Simpsons, the Rugrats, Kermit the Frog, Godzilla, Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh, the Munchkins from The Wizard of Oz, Shrek, Tinker Bell, the Muppets, Snoopy, and Minnie Mouse. (And yet, I can’t get one.)
… red-haired people require more anesthesia to be knocked out? Compared to people with other colors of hair, gingers need twenty percent more anesthesia to reach unconsciousness. (Stubborn, aren’t they?)
… it is illegal in Urbana, Illinois, for a monster to enter the city’s corporate limits? (Why would they want to?)
Now … you know!
So what is the sentence for a monster who enters the corporate limits of Urbana, Illinois? And what if you are one of those who identifies as a binary monster, who only turns into a teen aged werewolf during full moons? If you enter the city limits a teenager, then during your visit morph into a monster, do you get part of your sentence suspended?
I grew up thinking that casserole was my grandma’s recipe. And then I saw it on the Durkee’s onion can. My childhood was based on lies.

Pretty sure that Green Bean Casserole was whipped up in the Campbell’s research laboratory in Cinnaminson New Jersey, just up Route 130 from Camden. Cinnaminson also claims local celebrity Larry Ferrarri, who was an organ player much like Liberace, if you know what hack means, and George “Spanky McFarland, who lived there briefly while working at the RCA Facility in Moorestown New Jersey.
Is that true? I always thought that Spanky was a girl.
Hat’s off to his surgeon.
I might keep that misconception to yourself.
Hmm, could be a matter of spelling? The girl I’m thinking of was Spanky McFarlane:
Wrong Spanky.

Thank you!
Music from my youth.
Darla Hood was the center of Our Gang/Little Rascals. Saw her on a rerun of the Jack Benny Program when she was a young adult. She was a hottie. She passed away in her 40’s from an infection following surgery.
This next video is brought to you by the Counsel of Trent and it is a dig at/analytical takedown of liberal “Christianity” (when you hear what some of these yahoos espouse, you’ll understand that they are not really Christian. They are more Unitarian in practice, who go around seeking truth, when the truth is right there in front of their noses, in the Bibles they likely have in their churches. As such, Unitarians (and supposed “Christians” who attend a progressive church with the rainbow flag at the front) are a heretical sect who claim to be Christian, but they’re not.):
Liberalism has infested other mainstream churches, that’s why I left the church I was baptized and confirmed in, I left after they started embracing blasphemy.
Yeah, that sucks. I myself am a Christian without a church and it wasn’t the libs who drove me out. The hypocrisy of my church did. But, anyway, other Christians of the mainline faiths are attempting to take these churches back through Project Reconquista. Here’s more info on it (nothing violent):
Lastly, I will share with you guys as series of videos that surround the account of Abraham and Isaac. These scenes are from “His only Son.” It’s a good but slow movie, so if you’d like to watch it and avoid spoilers, you’ve been warned:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/efJFTZpVYOk?si=sTvvCGFT9qc4UZDm
This scene isn’t in the account in Genesis, but I do believe that, on the journey to Moriah, he would beg the Lord to take him instead of his son. He would obey and do as the Lord wills, but would hope and pray that He would reconsider. I also like this scene because when you pray to God, there are times when you think he isn’t listening. But, He is:
Eventually, they would arrive at Moriah and most of you gents would know what happened next. But, before I share the video, I would like to address those who claim that the Lord is a mean spirited and cruel God, who commanded Abraham to sacrifice his young child who did not want to die. The fact is Isaac wasn’t a child when this happened. He was in his 20s or little bit older. And he was a willing participant in this. His father was an old man of 125 and, if Isaac wished it, he could’ve fought against his father and gotten away. Of course he didn’t want to die, but he knew it was his duty to submit to the Lord and do His will. And God was never going to let Abraham carry out the act. Unlike many othe gods of the time, He never demanded human sacrifice, deeming it an abomination. This was a test of Abraham’s faith, one that if he failed, I think would result in an entirely different world, one where there is no Judaism or Christianity. And no salvation either.
Longer version of above. I meant to show this one instead, but I got the videos crossed. Ooops.
The account of Abraham and Isaac is a very impactful story. It also gives foreshadowing for what is to come:
“Then He said, “Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only Son from me.”
-Genesis, Chapter 22, Verse 12

Ok, my spamming is done for now.
I’m late to the party, but at least I’m safe….
Too many to count.
It’s funny because it’s true.
I am sure Chris Martin appreciated the irony of catching cheaters at his concert, especially since his wife sleeping with her boss (producer) ended their marriage.
Genius move on the part of the camera and Musician, I had absolutely no idea that Coldplay even existed before that!
Coldplay?
I wonder if there’s such a thing as Hotpause.
Yep
“they said for legal reasons HR had rescued themselves from the process…now that’s a great typo. Wish mine made as much sense.
I have recused myself from judgment of typos, unless it can be made punny.
Too far from first to even count.
Fifty-something, present and unaccountable as I award myself yet another Honorary First.
((((OVER))))
“Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) works balls.
As Lori Benton looks on….
That’s the same as saying water is wet, fire is hot and shit stinks!
Phil Monkress caught on the Jumbotron sporting his surplus store purchased SEAL Trident.
Scary stuff right here:

The good news is that if they stole it from the NG, it was already 3-4 months out of date!
Hack Stone is asking for your thoughts and prayers. His personal physician, Doctor Plumber, just diagnosed him with Dippydoodleitis, so this weekend he is heading to Frantic City to convalesce. And pay no attention to what you may hear from a talking dodo bird.
I’m currently undiagnosed, but something is definitely wrong. I may have that as well! I may dig through my clothes till I find my Grunt Stuff- “Whiskey Helps” tee shirt to wear while I convalesce!
How has your cough fractured rib healed?
Ribs, plural. The first rib was taken out by a sneeze. Ribs 2 and 3 were the victims of a cough, you could even say a “hack”. They seem to be doing well, but Hack is taking a pass on riding the roller coasters at Six Flags with the grandnephews next weekend. Hack needs to be in peak physical condition to twirl that sign on the River Road exit of I-495 to let commuters the great deals they can vat on outdated Red Hat Software. It’s been about 3 months since Hack’s last Emergency Room visit, let’s see if we can make it four.
It is good that you are on the mend.
By the grace of God I hope never to see that sign or cross that bridge again.
I left Montgomery County in August, 2000 and rarely return. Still have a client base inside and outside of the Beltway and we do everything via phone and internet.
Still miss sailing on the Bay but now I have the Gulf of America. It is not easiest place for passage making, single handed. OTOH, you can sail just all year.
Now I know we all hate the media (for very good reason), but I literally busted my gut laughing at this 😃:
Anyone in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this weekend?
Yes, this event is TOMORROW, Saturday July 19.
And all this just went down over the past few days.
The Phony Rambo clown on the right of this flyer
was just DUMPED by the Mark Lynch for US Senate – SC campaign.
Can YOU spot the huge lie on this (now obsolete) event flyer?
New flyers have only 2 heads, and 1 guest speaker.
Blame also lays with candidate Lynch, who FAILED to “vet the vet”,
and should have known to avoid parroting the lies and bullshit,
instead of pronouncing him “an American Hero” and “the real deal”.
This may affect the March 2026 elections in South Carolina,
where at least 5 GOP candidates are hoping to beat Lindsey Graham.
This guy is the wealthiest of the bunch, with millions to blow,
but he may have just put himself out of contention.
We shall see.
Upload failure above.
Here it is. Earlier flyer, with the BIG LIE.
Current flyer, the 5th version.
This is what happens, when a(ny) candidate
lets grifters and con men hitch their manure wagons to your tail.
As seen now, on the Book of the Fake.
Enjoy your weekend.
I’m heading to the beach. 🙂
I said it HERE, over 2½ years ago.
IF VG/TAH ran an article on this conman liar back then,
it would have helped a LOT of people involved in politics,
back then only in Pennsylvania, since Fall 2023 in 2 states,
and NOW since January 2025 in 3 STATES (PA, SC, NC).
As for the long list of lies and phonying already known by VG,
PHONY “Endorsed by President TRUMP”
can now be added.
Only 1 thumbs up each?
This could potentially affect US Senate control in 2027.
Departing shortly for the New Jersey shore.
(Myrtle Beach, SC is too long of a drive for this weekend.)
— I may show up this Fall at the OBX / Outer Banks of NC.
The 2026 election for Dare County Sheriff is quite the buzz,
what with a new arrival Phony Rambo loudmouth conman
(now exposed PHONY “Endorsed by President TRUMP”)
running to become the new Dare County Sheriff,
by accusing the sitting Sheriff and elected county officials of “corruption”.
Stock up on popcorn.
Headline – Dare sheriff race 2026:
One prospective candidate is from Dare.
Another, from Pa., was accused of mistreatment by 3 former partners, including an alleged threat to kill family dog

I doubt that these fellows will ever be prosecuted, but at least they are being exposed for all to see.

One Hundred and FIRTS comment.
And I have a legit reason for (a) being so late (b) being away from my duty station (c) unable to properly spell the word FIRST (deep in the arms of Lord Morpeous and his minion, Sir Perc O’ Sec)
I’ll cut you some slack, this time. That stuff will ease the pain, for awhile. Hope tomorrow is an easier day for you.
Happy Weekend!
That may be the only good thing Hugh ever did, thanks for refreshing that story. Hadn’t thought about it a very lone time but I have never forgotten Connie Kreskie!
Also.
Whelp, as I begin typing this is in line to be the 104th comment.
Back in the AO after our mission trip to work on a church in Grand Junction, CO, where it was 103° F
80+ folks, got a lot done, but several of us high-mileage types had to back off. Still a great time.
God bless you all,
God bless you too! I only been to Grand Junction once and that was when I was taking a train from SLC to Denver after getting my CDL. The most pleasant travel experience of my life and I was in economy.
Glad you had a great time.
So this is in the news:
“Pentagon announces Marine general tapped to lead Naval Academy in historic first”
If he gets confirmed, does this mean that for us squids there will be less of an emphasis on shooting the enemy from afar and more on boarding actions?
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pentagon-announces-marine-general-tapped-lead-naval-academy-historic-first
They have this thing called a “push up” in the Marine Corps (and the Army). It has nothing to do with bras. Anyway it’s best avoided so just tell them you aren’t interested.
Drop out of a run and they make you run with the PCP (pork chop platoon) till the next PFT. IYKYK
Here is one for the SPOTW.
