Blast From the Past- James Walls, phony UH-1 pilot
Back by popular demand, OK, a couple Ex’s and I decided to bring back some of the more egregious posers that have graced the TAH site in the past, with the idea of turning it into a weekly feature. Depending, of course on the reception we receive. So without further ado, today’s relic is Jimmy Walls, embellisher and phony H-1 pilot.
Someone sent us their work on this James Walls fellow who moderates a Facebook group called UH-1 Huey Helicopter where he gives everyone the impression that he was a Vietnam helicopter pilot in the 1st Cavalry Division.
Well, he was in the Cav – 3rd Squadron 12th Calvary of the 3rd Armored Division in Germany from 1967 – 1969. In 1969, he went to Vietnam and he was assigned to the 169th Engineer Battalion in the Delta region. Funny assignment for a pilot, huh? Well, he was a parts supply guy, a TAMMS clerk, not a pilot. Not in the Cav and flying a desk. There’s nothing wrong with being a supply guy, there is if you pretend to be something you’re not. You’ll notice in the pictures above, he’s wearing aviator wings on his jacket and a 1st Cavalry patch – he was never in the 1st Cav. He’s wearing a 3rd Armored Division patch in the one picture – that’s correct.
Stop me before I have to expose another one of these guys.

I’m not for or against it. For those who persist in bullshitting, it’s nice to let them know that they haven’t been forgotten. For those who have ceased their bullshit, removed their social media lies and such, I’m for letting them be. There’s a third category, I guess, to which very few belong, and that’s the clowns like Soup Sandwich, Ballduster McSoulpatch, and Sharkey (a/k/a Vlad.) Some of the funniest–no, check that–the funniest shit ever to come out of TAH came out in that era. Cripes. What a time.
The collective humor in the posts and comments regarding that crew, as well as a few others in their special troop, I never imagined could come from one place. So many people were firing on all cylinders, led by TSO and Jonn.
Ballduster McSoulpatch was my first pick, as he’s deceased, but I couldn’t locate his original post. I hope it’s archived elsewhere.
Those were heady days, with the Ballduster McSoulpatch Memorial Stolen Valor Tournaments playing a huge part in exposing stolen valor.

When I contacted her this morning to ask about his use of the the USMC veteran license plates on his truck, she said that she had already contacted the Colorado Dept. of Revenue and they are actively investigating the claim. Her last comment to me said that Paisley – and his dog school – has gone dark and they suspect he has left town. That should surprise no one, I guess.
I wish all journalists had the fortitude to pursue these cases. Ms. Morfitt is a credit to her trade.
I am not an expert on dog temperament, but by looking at that dog, pecker paisley is lucky that it didn’t use his neck for a chew toy.
I know more than enough about dog’s temperament to be more than dangerous on giving opinions. Wasn’t there, but from reading the article, this behaviour was shown when the lady went back for additional lessons. This tells me the POS had abused the dog during the training while the dog’s mistress was not around. Huskies are very owner/human loyal and do have the ability to rip your lungs out thru your throat. If this behavior was before any training, then most likely the dog sensed that paisley was a dirt bag and he, the dog, retreated to give space. Usually, if a dog or even a baby pulls away from or growls/cries around or at another human, then something ain’t right with that person. You can test this theory by taking a known dirt bag near a dog or baby. Keep a close eye on the dirt bag.

If my own memory serves, part of the reason for the Huey site circle jerk is because it’s owned by a European guy who himself has had no Army or RVN exposure. In that time frame, in Germany, usually a 24 month unaccompanied tour for married E-4 under 4. Upon DEROS, usually, a stateside assignment, fairly close to home, then an ETS. Unmarried troops normally pulled the time left till ETS in country, return CONUS for ETS. Some real shit bags were transferred to the Viet of the Nam till ETS as a punishment. You could volunteer for xfer to VN but with less than 12 months remaining, it was generally not granted. Recycling the shit bags may help keep their name Google Famous. Hard to think that the Huey Site boys haven’t nailed him to the “wall.” Jimmy Walls, you are a lying embellishing POS standing on the bodies and in the blood of better men than you could ever dream to be. I had completely forgotten that somewhere between 2014 and 2017 old Forgin’ Frank had added the Cold War Victory Medal into his dream rack.

I still have written proof he is a lying SOS. He has still never explained how he could sign the sign-in sheet for the unit memorial for the two men killed on his LRRP team while at the same point in time he was supposedly being held as a POW by the enemy somewhere in the jungle.

Yes, he did. One of my guys was on the subject patrol with Cayton. Cayton would throw a grenade while every one else was asleep and claim enemy incoming fire and that the patrol was compromised, then call for extraction. The two men killed were being extracted by Maguire or STABO rigs and the pilot screwed up and drug them through tall
trees.
According to Mary’s investigation, the scars were from self-inflicted wounds when he was intoxicated when he was stationed in Alaska after he returned from RVN. In any event, he didn’t have them when he left G/75 in early 1971.

I agree in theory, but we’re just now finding our feet after a shattering loss. I think this year’s field is pretty thin anyway, with no real standout contenders.
It’s also labor intensive, and most can’t devote the time needed to do it well.
So bear with us and perhaps a version of the Stolen Valor Tourney will happen next year.
I’ll make a point of bringing it up to management, but I already know their answer.

Those were the good old days.
Ironically I did my training at Ft. Carson, CO from 11/66 to 10/67 (basic, etc.) with the 12th ACR. Then shipped to Vietnam and assigned to the GREAT 11th ACR from 11/67 until medivaced CONUS late May ’67.
While I was assigned to ACAV’s M-113’s the tanks in Nam were M48’s and not the M-60’s as in Colorado. As I recall one of the reasons was the anti-personnel round used by the M-48’s was more effective in the jungle as opposed to the “bee-hive” round used by the M-60 105mm main gun.
While my main weapon was the M-2, .50 cal I believe I am correct about the differences in the 90mm M-48 and the M-60.
Corrections to my poor memory appreciated.

My dad was in the 11th ACR about a year before you. He deployed over there with them in August or September of 1966 and I think he left in April or May.
Not sure why his tour was cut short but it may have had something to do with the fact that he was a USAR officer on an involuntary recall.

A couple of serious suggestions would be to at least once a month try to find one that has gotten his proper comeuppance. Yes, some do get convicted, fined, and such.

Hey, I flew lotsa missions with a Spec-4 at the controls of a Huey. Whenever we had a hairy, badass LRRP insertion or extraction, we asked for it to be flown by a SPC4 TAMMS clerk as pilot in command.

AW1Ed, For as mad I get at these goober phonies, I still find the humor in the way that you guys (and how Jonn used to) write up the articles and follow-ups on them. Moreover, I think it is extremely important that these clowns be exposed for their crap and although I never knew Jonn, I think he would want the practice to continue. I for one, vote for the continuation of busting these guys, but I’d like to see at least one per day if possible. Thanks for all of your efforts!
Copy that Marine0331. As I commented above, we’re just getting back on our feet after losing Jonn. The bench here is pretty thin, and the folks who do take the time to contribute are appreciated, but have lives, too. My point is I don’t see a daily Blast From The Past (BFTP) anytime soon.
