16-year-old boy unintentionally shot by accomplice in Monroe drive-by shooting: Police

MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 16-year-old boy allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting was shot by an accomplice, according to the Monroe Police Department.Around 11:25 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a shooting on the 600 block of Skywatch Lane in Monroe. It was determined that the vehicle stopped on Skywatch Lane, and multiple people got out of the vehicle and started shooting into two homes.
No one inside those homes were hurt during the shooting, officials said.
Less than 15 minutes later, just before 11:40 p.m., officers responded to a hospital for a report about a 16-year-old with a life-threatening gunshot wound. The teen was later airlifted to a hospital in Charlotte, where he is in stable condition.
After investigating both incidents, detectives believe an accomplice of the 16-year-old unintentionally shot him during the drive-by shooting on Skywatch Lane.

Bloody bat found near man fatally shot on porch in Philadelphia’s Germantown section
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A man was shot and killed in Germantown Sunday night.
Police responded to the unit block of Hansberry Street just before 11 p.m.
Police responded to the home for a shooting and found a 47-year-old man in the vestibule of a home, shot in the chest.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Police are questioning the homeowners after a bloody baseball bat was found near the scene.
The homeowners told officers the suspect attempted to break in when they shot him.
The bloody bat was found on the porch, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

At first I was puzzled.
A flying mouse to a gunfight? Then it clicked. (In my defense, it’s oh-dark-too-damn-early, pre-caffiene, been awake since oh-dark-too-damn-earlier).

Puzzled is a good word here, Tox. These two were considered for a dual post with FGS and SPoTW Threads. Puzzling as to what would be more stupid…shooting your partner in crime or carrying a bat to a gunfight? The cats caught hell…didn’t they? And another day has passed without me buying a 9mm.

I’m still somewhat puzzled.
If the homeowner had the gun, and the perp had the bat, whose blood was on the bat? Did the perp get in a lick or two on the homeowner before being shot?

Tox, I had to read it again because I was also thinking fledermaus when I first read it not schlager.
I think the Police need to do a little bit of investigation as to whose blood it is. My guess is they will find another neighbor with a crushed skull whom the deceased previously encountered (one who probably did not realize he was in a gun fight and forgot to bring something appropriate)

He is Khurdish. Is not an illegal immigrant: Arrived on a K1 Visa Oct 2024, married Jan 2025. Delayed filing paperwork, which should be settled shortly. Iran has mandatory service and he noted it on his Visa application.
One strange detail is that he currently is not working (which can be difficult for legal immigrants who don’t have their green card yet), and his wife is 7 months pregnant. Who is working?
When I was 16 I probably would have unintentionally shot one of my friends.
Not out of malice, but just because he was a real ass clown.
Not because I would have wanted him to die, and not because I would have wanted to WOUND him in any nasty way, but…just because…well, he kinda pissed my ass off from time to time…y’know?
Start with the BB gun, if that isn’t enough then migrate up to the pellet rig… a green switch and if he still ain’t gitting right, apply the size 10 or larger boots. After that? Some “friends” just ain’t worth having.

When I was 16 years old, I was in bed for the next day of H.S., Saturday nights was over at my friend Elliot’s house watching sea hunt and Zacherly on NYC channel 9 and making English muffin pizzas in Elliots Moms rottissery and using spagetty sauce and mozzerella cheese while his folks were out playing canasta. No such thing as pizza sauce in the food stores. .Still didn’t have a Girlfriend yet. No I won’t mention So Young by the Ohio Students.
