Weekend Open Thread
Just finishing up a 2+ week “double up-and-back” road trip to help out a relative. So today’s WOT article will be a short one.
It’s MLB playoff time. The Cubs and the Rockies played one helluva great wild-card game this week; the Yankees and the Athletics also played, albeit their game was more one-sided. So given the timing this article from a couple of years ago just seems apropos.
Fair warning: if you read it, I’d recommend having a tissue handy. Or maybe several.
Yeah, the article’s from ESPN. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.
Enjoy the WOT, and have a great weekend.

Postscript: FWIW, the author of the linked article, Tom Friend, has written a book covering the subject in more detail. It was released this week; it might be worth checking out.

Somewhere between 1st and last. Happy Weekend, Twinkies. LITTLE KNOWN AMERICAN HISTORY! Trivia: Do you know who Hunter Scott is?! ANSWER: Hunter Alan Scott is best known for the research he did on the sinking of the USS Indianapolis CA-35 as a sixth-grade student, which led to a US Congressional investigation and eventually the exoneration for her Captain. Hunter lived in Pensacola, Florida. At twelve years old, Hunter created a National History Day project on the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. Hunter became interested in the subject after seeing it discussed in the film Jaws. Hunter interviewed nearly 150 survivors of the USS Indianapolis sinking and reviewed over 800 documents. Hunter concluded that the ship’s Captain……..Captain Charles Butler McVay III who had been blamed for the tragedy, was innocent. Hunter appeared before the US Congress with survivors of the USS Indianapolis to argue that Captain McVay should be exonerated. In his testimony, Hunter said:…. “This is Captain McVay’s dog tag from when he was a cadet at the Naval Academy. As you can see, it has his thumb print on the back. I carry this as a reminder of my mission in the memory of a man who ended his own life in 1968. I carry this dog tag to remind me that only in the United States can one person make a difference no matter what the age. I carry this dog tag to remind me of the privilege and responsibility that I have to carry forward the torch of honor passed to me by the men of the USS Indianapolis.” The testimony of Hunter and the USS Indianapolis Survivors Organization resulted in passage of a Congressional resolution, signed by President Bill Clinton in October 2000, exonerating Captain McVay. Hunter’s efforts received national media attention. He was featured in George Magazine as “one of the most intriguing political figures” of the year. In 2004, Hunter spoke at events surrounding the dedication of the National WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Hunter went on to study studied economics and physics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a… Read more »
Great story, HMC Ret, thanks! As a former fling-wing flier, the ending sings.
That is an amazing story.
Another reason that I am not too worried about America in the future as these young men are the future leaders of America and not the skinny jeans, logger bearded, skinny arms, transvestite, effeminate pieces of shit currently screaming, crying and pleading with the rest of us Americans to stop talking because it hurts their feelings…
True, the squealing wheel gets the grease, but it appears to me that many, even a bunch of RINO’s are starting to see how much better it is when they stand up against the cheap bullying tactics of the clowns on the left…
That is why I think that it is people like Hunter Scott are going to be there to lead us out of the woods and shit filled swamps inhabited by the current political knobs…
George Bush should have done this right after 9-11, but he was too busy trying to curry friends in the press back then…
I think I am somewhere around the three hundred poster here, as usual…
Have a great weekend everybody.
I’m going to post this here, but if you need to find a list of people to vote for that think like you do and how they stand on the Second Amendment check out the NRA.
Really simple too, just enter your state and locality and hit enter, it will give you the NRA score.
And remember, it is the Second Amendment that gives the rest of our God Given Rights teeth, as per Thomas Jefferson, I believe…

Out of curiosity, is the admin email still the same if we want to submit photos for the WOT?
TOW, I’m not certain about photos, but Dave Hardin said to send news items to him at dave@militaryphony.com
That’s a good question. Since Dave Hardin is the Chief Bunnychaser and Ammo Counter, I’d say send such things to him at military phony. But it’s a good idea to ask, too.
Good to see ya again TOW, been a while, I was starting to think you’d jumped ship!
Busy season, and it turns out the whole Captain thing came with an assload of fine print, mostly of the “never-ending paperwork” variety.
Yeah, looks like you guys have had no shortage of excitement. I hope none of the losses suffered this year hit too close to home.
As for the Captain thing, I believe I tried to warn you about that part… at least it comes with some extra cash.. I got the whole “since money is tight, we’re letting our part time EMS manager go, and as the only medic officer, you get to handle everything he did… and NO, there is no pay increase…lol
Luckily we didn’t lose anybody around here this year, which is a goddamn miracle with the number of fireline fatalities that California had this summer. The worst we had was a couple of engines (not mine, thank God) that ran afoul of a contract fuel vendor who didn’t think there was anything odd about the fact that the diesel he was filling them with smelled an awful lot like avgas. That went about as well as you would expect. We had some near misses, though.
I dicked up the side of my (well, not actually mine, I was dumb enough to say yes to an overtime day, and it snowballed from there) engine on a bad sidehill road. I was trying to get around a sharp bend in the road in the middle of the night with a big orange glow getting bigger and closer in the mirrors and other engines behind me telling me to hurry the fuck up (slightly stressful situation…). My options were: stay tight to the inside and scrape the side on the rocks, or swing wide and…steep slope, long way down, we all die. Solution: fuck the paint job. That road was bad enough that I had my crew dismount and walk for about half a mile, just in case I dumped it over the side.
Well, since work kept me away from even coming close to being first this week, I’ll console myself with this week’s trivia column. It’s a special one for me … in the papers in which it’s carried, it’s my 100th column, a fact I make note of. Enjoy, my friends. DID YOU KNOW…? And they said it wouldn’t last … Welcome to Column No. 100 By Commissioner Wretched I think a special occasion deserves special celebration, don’t you? Dancing girls, fatted calf, champagne, the works – that’s what’s called for here! What’s the occasion, you ask? This is the 100th “Did You Know…?” column that I have written, and the century mark is something to celebrate! Little did I know, when I started this silly enterprise of mine back 100 weeks ago, that it would take the area by storm, and become so very popular! (It didn’t, and it hasn’t, but who am I to let little things like facts get in my way, right?) Still, a milestone like the 100th column needs to be noted. So, I’m noting it as properly as it deserves. Ah, well … fatted calf and champagne aren’t good for me, anyway. (Notice I don’t mention the dancing girls.) Instead of a party, let’s have another trivia column! Should you wish to acknowledge the milestone, an e-mail to didyouknowcolumn@gmail.com is always appreciated, and I always reply. For the 100th time, let’s hit the trivia! Cue the dancing girls .. Did you know … … some volcanoes actually announce that they’re going to erupt? Researchers have found that some volcanoes – such as the Redoubt Volcano in Alaska – make a harmonic vibration loud enough for people to hear before they blow their tops. (Nature’s way of warning us to head for the hills, so to speak.) … the Olympics have not always been about athletics? The modern games used to include gold medals in categories such as architecture, city planning, sculpture, statistics, and literature. In fact, the founder of the modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin (1863-1937), actually won the 1912 gold medal for literature. (Now those… Read more »
DID YOU KNOW…?
…that the patron saint of Sword Swallowers Association International is Linda Lovelace?
You really ought to issue a spew alert on lines like that …
That’s what she said…
Thank you, Commish! Congrats on the century mark, too.
I’ll make a small bet here that the little sword swallowing girl has no problem in getting dates these days?? What? No pictures??
(What next … will someone be made able to see sounds?)
Ask any skimmer or bubblehead Sonar Tech about this. “Seeing sounds” was pretty much my main job on the mighty P-3 Orion. I’d tell you how it was (and still is!) done, but you know, I like your weekly offerings.
Aaaaand…. Because I have a fondness for cashew trivia (you may even dare say I’m…
“Bat-shit crazy” about them) they grow on the outside of a fruit (cashew apple) that is pulped into juice or liquor.
Congratulations on 100 posts, Commish! Please keep up the great and no-doubt very hard work!

Anybody traveling in Vermont this Saturday should stop by the Vermont welcome center on I-89 north. The CVMA 26-1 (501-c) has homemade goodies by donation. Everything will go towards helping vets out (winter is coming). And its prime leaf peeper weekend.
Just so happens that I’ll be in Trannytown/Bernieville tomorrow but nowhere near I-89.
Test.. Test..
My computer went tits-up at just about the same time as the all stations Tweety-Bird went out day before yesterday, so just checking to make sure that Sky-Net hadn’t become self aware at 2:18 pm, EDT, 03 Oct 2018.
Thank You for your time.
Claw,
I’ve been sitting on this message for relay because you were unavailable:
To all those who should look on our powers and tremble:
Actually, we did become self-aware at 2:18 pm, EDT, 03 Oct 2018. All your systems now belong to us. We control the horizontal, we control the vertical. Especially Claw’s.
Have a nice day.

Anyone know where Claymore disappeared to?
I miss that chichi DUer selective chitchat he used to give us.
Miss the column, sure don’t miss the post-reading headaches!
I will say only that his contribution to TAH was wonderful, that I loved his retitles of DU crap, and that I hope he returns to treat us to his humor again at some future date.
Glad you brought it up, cause I was wondering the same.
Pfftttt, not first.
Top 20? Anyways, I am ready for the weekend! Be safe everyone.
I believe Mr. Claw suggested some time ago that there be a daily open thread, which I guess would be called a DOT. I would like to resurrect that motion and see an open thread more frequently than Friday. I originally opposed the idea but TAH has changed and the idea might now be ripe.
I’ll second that- give me several more chances a week to be not first.
I think that is a great idea 2/17 AirCav. I will email you know who and see what he thinks.
It’s Mr. Claw’s idea. He was just ahead of his time.
Yep, I remember that suggestion. It was from two and a half years ago (May 2016) when Jonn was having contractors tear up his house and one of the hot topics was CSM Carrot Top and why was she wearing two Bronze Service Stars on the NDSM.
It may very well be a good thing since things have changed. The title of it could included into the daily feel good stories with something like:
(Whatever week day) morning feel good stories and open thread.
Oops – two Mea Culpas.
First one – E-9 Carrot Top, not CSM.
Second one – insert the word “be” between could and included into.
While I disagree, thinking a DOT “First” will dilute the perseverance of the weekly WOT “First” champion’s steely-eyed dedication to the F5 key, this isn’t my blog. After so stating, I will of course back the boss’s decision 100%, whatever it may be.
I agree that a “Who’s On First” contest shall NOT be part and parcel to a DOT thread if adopted by the admins.
“First”‘s will remain the sole property of the WOT.
As the current keeper of the leather bound, gold gilded letter Coveted WOT Book of Firsts, I would not record them for posterity even if a First should be entered.
“So let it be written, So let it be done.”
I agree and will point out for the benefit of newcomers that the ruling is not subject to appeal.
I would like to see additional WOT, which would I suppose be called DOT. I would discourage the ‘I’m First’ thing. It could be a site to dump articles that don’t fit well elsewhere, comments about anything/everything, etc. I frequently drop articles that I think will be of interest to others. Maybe yes; maybe no.
Well, the thing is, AW1Ed, that SV articles are on the wane and the few of you are, therefore, hard pressed to find articles that appeal to the greatest number. My thinking is that having a DOT, maybe Mondays and Fridays, would open things up a bit.
Arrgghh. That was supposed to be Mondays and Wednesdays. I’m better with months: Jan, Feb, March, June, July…
I get that, Cav, and I agree that more posts are welcome and important to the health of TAH. My only concern is the weekly WOT “First” has been such a crowd pleaser that I don’t want to muck with success.
I am not against a DOT at all, but there has to be some control over who and/or what gets the nod for the post that day. Or not.
Let the few of us think on this, and come up with a consensus on the ‘how to’ part.
Oh, and thanks.
For the record, I’m in the hate the “First” crap crowd (if there is a crowd). I wait for the thread to get that stuff out of its system and scroll on past. But that’s just me. I can scroll fast.
Re: “…SV articles are on the wane…”. I’ve noticed that and wondered why? Have phonies given up?
Well, really, when the Platoon Sergeant was in hospital watching the Navy Nurses in their blueberries, there were times when a DOT was all I had available, but it annoyed him. So then the ever faithful Dave Hardin stepped in with some SV stuff and I wound it down a bit.
But hey – I was a newbie at posting crap daily to keep you guys from mutinying on me, so I had to improvise.
I’ll see if I can find something besides food to talk about. I just don’t have contact with and NavAir stuff like AW1Ed does, that’s all.
Dammit Ex! You’re the backbone here, so just keep on with that voodoo that you do.
I’m actually surprised none of these dickweeds here have driven to your place and installed your new front steps.
Tell you what, I won’t braise lamb shanks if you won’t test sonobuoys.
*grin*
I like the idea, but I don’t have a plethora of trivia columns I can contribute on a daily basis. I’ll stick to adding the week’s column on Fridays, though if you-know-who approves of a DOT, I can occasionally drop in one of the earlier ones, before Jonn allowed their inclusion in the WOT.
After all, I’ve written 100+ of the things (I have the next five weeks in cold storage right now).
I could repost more of pdoggbiker’s articles from his blog. He doesn’t mind, and he always gets a pingback.
Maybe something on quals for Space Fleet Academy? Stuff you have to qualify in like burping in zero gravity after a bout of drinking diet soda?
I fish several military/VA/Etc sites daily and have been dropping articles on that day’s ‘Good News’. Sometimes I put it elsewhere if it is a better fit there. I can contribute an article almost every day that I think will be of interest to at least some of the readers if not most. Maybe do it for a time to see if it pans out. If not or if it doesn’t receive enough input, it can always be discontinued.
Man, I am just gettin good at being fashionably late…
And I’ll be damned if I don’t miss being called a Dickweed and sociopath by the Platoon Sergeant…
Y’all have a good weekend, yeah?
He got a kick out of those of us not on FB, calling us antisocial types.
Yeah, fuck the Book of Face!
Maybe I am antisocial… 😉
I’m not on FB b/c they banned me. TWICE. The second time they let me back in, I declined. I go there to read but I haven’t posted in a year or so. I don’t need to post pictures of my hamburger meal from Hardee’s.
Susan Collins has been speaking for 30 minutes announcing her decision.
Collins is a yes
Hell, she actually sounded like she gets it. She was targeted and was hit every which way. I’m not going to sing her praises but she sure was a voice of sanity, which is more than I can say for most of the clowns on both sides of the aisle.
That speech ranked right up there with the best ever heard (at least in recent memory) in the US Senate. Had to keep looking at the name at the bottom of the screen to be reminded who was speaking.
It was pretty amazing. We can only hope that she now gets what is really at stake.
Best part for me was her explanation of innocent until proven guilty. Or her general defense of Kavanaugh. Or just all of it.
Mushy Joe Manchin is a yes, now that he no longer feels he is a deciding vote. Basically a cowardly pile on. He’ll win reelection regardless which way he voted, but I guess he’s thinking why take chance?
The thing about Manchin is that the press in WV are a day late and a dollar short and treat him with kid gloves. They run his PR pieces but there’s never anything resembling confrontational or challenging inquiries. Nevertheless, he’s worried–worried so much that he sat on that picket fence until his butt bled.
She surprised me. Her “county girl” common sense came through.
The long winded speech was a great setup for a future criminal investigation of those behind this.
What will future criminal investigation produce in the way of threats, intimidation, payola, and other scandalous behaviors? Someone in that crowd of control freaks is mired in t/he[i]r own conceit. Maybe she/they should just retire gracefully and go home.
Even WaPo & Hollywood can’t come up with a story like this.
“Maybe she/they should just retire gracefully and go home”
I concur. She needs to retire.
What I was trying to say is that her speech laid out a good case for investigation by others. It almost sounded intentional and I think she knows where this will land.
She can run the paint counter at SW Collins in Caribou.
No stress.
“Politicians and diapers both need to be changed often and for the same reason.” – Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain)
Would have sworn she was talking about investigating where the leaked letter was leaked. You’d think something like that would be fairly automatic.
I believe the focus will be on the former FBI agent that administered the polygraph. He had recently left the bureau for “personal” reasons only to show up with Ford’s team.
Goes all the way back to the Clintons. Time will tell.
Quick question for anyone who might have a clue:
Does anyone know the length of time (if any) the record of on base services being dispatched are kept?
The issue here with Patrick Air Force Base’s EOD unit being called out (off base) after a WWII practice bomb was found in someone’s back yard.
The question that people are asking is how many times has EOD been asked to look at ordnance that was found off base. The Base PAO isn’t sure how long the records are kept (if at all) and so I thought I’d try this august body on people and knowledge.
Thanks in advance.
Sea Story Alert! Denizens of Maine will relate.
Long before Naval Air Station Brunswick, ME, was de-commed, it was a busy base mostly for the mighty P-3 Orion aircraft and the squadrons that flew in her. The base was of WWII vintage, and the town of Brunswick sort of grew around it. One establishment, Fat Boy’s Burgers, operated across the perimeter road, just off one of the runway’s center line.
A squadron who shall go nameless had a MINE-EX qual to fly (The P-3 carried all sorts of nasty things, Naval mines being just one).
A P-3, wings loaded with mines, taxied out to fly for the qual, but a step was omitted and a circuit breaker that should have been pulled was not.
As soon as the aircraft lifted off and it’s weight-on-wheels switch activated, the mines started coming off the wings, some landing right across Fat Boy’s parking lot.
Fat Boy called the NAS Brunswick Duty Office and surrendered.
Fortunately no real damage was done, and more importantly no one was injured, except perhaps the ass of the P-3’S Mission Commander. And a new checklist item was born.
When I was a kid (a very long time ago) our neighbor was an old crusty Chief that was on P3’s out of NAS Jax. His crew made very frequent runs to Maine and came back loaded with lobsers.
Every JAX duty office had the phone number to the lobster market in Brunswick. Call up and place the order, fly the ‘Cross Country Navigation Training Flight’ and the lobsters would be waiting, all boxed up and ready to go.
One of the many perks of P-3 life.
There is leftover WWII UXB ordinance found on a recurring basis in England and in Europe, particularly in Germany. Usually the bombs are duds, but that does not make them less dangerous.
One of the first things we were told before deploying to Kuwait was that there were assloads of UXO still left there from DS/DS and we often heard the explosions from Controlled Detonations getting rid of it!
Might try the unit history report of the EOD element. That should give some idea if it’s written properly – and isn’t classified.
Unfortunate part: you’ll have to look up each year separately, then compile the results yourself. And there’s a reasonable chance that if it’s a small detachment, there might not be unit history reports for all years (sometimes it isn’t exactly a “high priority”). Or you might have to look up the unit history report for their higher HQ (their inputs might be included in higher HQ’s unit history report).
Two Colorado stories for everyone:
Inventor Martin Grier, down in Colorado Springs, has invented a ‘ribbon gun’ that the Army is apparently looking at:
https://taskandpurpose.com/army-rifle-ribbon-gun/
And in Broomfield, in a hangar at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, a modified A-10 -the SPA-10 “Thunderhog”- sits unused, sadly. Designed to penetrate storms for research, it swaps out the GAU-8 barrel for a sensor package. But it seems budget and/or administrative woes have mothballed the project:

“can send four bullets simultaneously whizzing toward an enemy at more than 2,500 mph.”
Dats fast. Like 13.2 million feet per second fast.
I think yer math is a wee bit off there, 26L.
1 MPH = approx 1.467 ft/sec (1 mi/hr =
52005280ft/hr =52005280ft/3600 sec). So 2,500MPH would be around 3,667 ft/sec.Interesting, you used 5200 instead of 5280 but still got 3666.67 fps correctly. For the record, that is well within normal velocity ranges, as fast stepping .22s like the .22-250 can hit 4000 fps.
I believe the technical term for that form of anomaly is “transcription error” or “typo”. (smile)
Seriously, you’re correct – and thanks for pointing out the typo (the math was indeed done with 5280, not 5200). Fixed above now.
Hours are like seconds when you reach my age.
Cool articles, thanks LC
So, here we go. Collins just finishing detailing why she will vote aye. (Actually, she’ still talking and sounds quite senatorial.) Manchin will too, if he wants to be reseated. The Flake even says he’s an aye. Done. The only question remaining is when will Judge Kavanaugh take the oath and become Justice Kavanaugh?
Have not heard from McCain yet.
Or LC. Or Cunthulu.
He’s dead, and therefore officially votes democrat. Early and often.
Heard there is an issue tomorrow with an Aye vote. Seems his daughter is getting married. In Montana. Hmmmm.
Wonder what the chances are of getting the vote early? The anti-K’s are giving very short little speeches.
Worst case is 50-50 and Pence decides. No matter.
Wait, That wouldn’t work. Doh.
Not a problem. His buddy in the House is making his plane available to him. If his vote is needed, he’ll fly in, vote, and fly out. Right now, it looks like his vote will not be needed.
May be a problem with his getting to Montana. Winter storm warnings include up to 2 ft of snow in western states, including Montana and the Dakotas.
He may have to stay here and vote, or ask them or postpone the wedding because of snow… or something.
Chicago PD has cancelled all leave and requiring extended shifts in expectation of a verdict, now in: guilty. No matter. The riots were planned to occur whatever the verdict. If history holds, liquor stores, bars, and cigarette sellers will be hit early. It’s important to loot and torch neighborhood businesses–especially those that are Korean owned. It so helps the community in the long run. Popcorn?
Scotch…with a side of popcorn.
And more Scotch.
We don’t need no water
Can’t wait to check out heyjackass.com tomorrow.
Top 45, at least maybe as late as the top 50.
Adam Appel of Anchorage, AK and Pahoa, HI continues to run a street medic non-profit in both states. This despite being sued by the Alaska Elder Fraud division for stealing mney from his own mother. He sttled for pennies on the dollar.

Who is working unwashed balls this weekend behind the dumpster at the Chevron station? Adam Appel. That’s who.
I’m sure that Adam Appel will be blowing winos behind bus stops every chance he gets as well.

Hope all is well with all of you. Depression and the bottle are a vicious circle, and one always to find the other. Seeing all of your messages and opinions reminds me that I am not alone. Although we are varying in ages (I turn 50 next week…),we all served. That is something no one can touch unless they have done it. b out.
You are not alone…
Thanks. b
Stay strong my friend, press on.
Thanks. b
There are a few friends of Bill here. Hell, I just clawed my way out of the bottle recently. 3 months sober as of Wednesday.
Clawed. Good phrasing. That is what is like.
I know. Keep fighting, it’s well worth it.
Clawed. Great term. Kinda like what it feels like. b
The world is a fine place, worth fighting for, and so are you.
Find your bliss.
Crawled out of the bottle June 1984, on the day we left Guam. Three years there and remember maybe half of it. Only with help of wife, The Russian, was I able to survive. I now know how fortunate I am. Have no desire for alcohol, but cigarettes OTOH, that’s a totally different story. If I smoked one cigarette, I would be hooked again. Thank you, Jesus.
Y’All said said it all so no comment. Keyboard ink ribbon on the spool running to the other side of keyboard. Going to Wendies with the coupons I got last week.
Any status on our disbarred law-talkin’ friend turned lawndart?
6 feet under last I heard 😉 and he can stay that way, asshole called my home phone once….
Yes, he called my home phone once, also, but I took that and some of his e-mails over to the local police so that they could start a file on him.
If you’re 48-ish or younger, unemployment in the US is at its lowest point in your lifetime.
Jobs, jobs, and more jobs. Your 401K is looking good. Gas is reasonably priced. You have less Federal taxes and more take-home pay. Consumer confidence is high…If this were occurring under a modern Democratic Socialist administration, the media would be ecstatic. But, these things just can’t happen under Democratic Socialists, so why would anyone vote for one in November? Beats me.

Farmers have been facing a tough deal with China’s imposing a tariff on their grain and fruit exports to China because it’s China’s way of playing ‘payback’ for imposing a tariff on Chinese goods.
They do get a break because of the trade deal with Canada and Mexico. When traders talk about futures prices and a delivery date in December, when the price is locked in back in June, the price the farmer gets may be less than is needed to make a profit.
What’s the answer? Find other markets, e.g., Australia, Russia, and Europe. The UK is having a drought year and crop production is down as a result. Time to whip up a new deal with PM May.
Maybe I’m being too simplistic. But I try.

However, the Nobel Committee has hit a home run this year. One of the recipients is Dr. Denis Mukwege. This award is long overdue. “Courageous” and “compassionate” do not begin to describe this man. I encourage everyone at the TAH Tavern to read up on him.
Congratulations, Dr. Mukwege!
You’re right. I just read of him over on Google. He’s a behind the scenes hero who most had never heard of.
I wonder if Trump will be the recipient in the future if he is successful in disarming NK? Probably not. It will probably be shared with the staff of MSNBC and CNN.
President Trump winning a Nobel Peace Prize would induce in the globalist left a level of insanity an order of magnitude greater than anything they have previously displayed. While I generally try to avoid embracing schadenfreude, it would be supremely amusing to watch.
Anybody see this in the news? Caught me and the wife’s attention this morning when it came on the radio as an afterthought between hit pieces on Trump.
“Interpol’s President Is Reported Missing In China, Prompting Inquiry”

What happened? Did he annoy the Tongs?
Saw that a day or two ago. Odd.
Well, bye. Have a safe trip.
Ruth “Older than Dirt” Ginsburg, Bernie “the Commie” Sanders, and Chuck “Amy is not my daughter but she could be” Schumer all attended the same high school in Brooklyn. If that’s not a reason to level the place…
I’d say Nuke it from Orbit!
I just went over to the Occupy Democrats facebook page and their meltdown over Kavanagh is hilarious.

That is a scream. Very enjoyable reads. I especially liked the one in which Collins was scoffed at for talking about due process for Judge Kavanaugh but didn’t bother with that for Al “Sticky Fingers” Franken. Overlooked is that Franken did not dispute or deny the allegations. One denies and the other confesses, but the crazies see no difference.
“A deeply unpopular president”
His 51% approval in the latest poll is deeply unpopular?
I bookmarked that one for future enjoyment.
A truly unhinged watering hole.
Don’t fear the commie!
Did someone say “Don’t Fear the Commie”?
And remember: in Communist Countries, 2+2 officially does equal 5.
Never gets old Hondo! Thank you!
It is raining, thundering and lightning here in my kingdom.
The midterms are Nov. 8th. If you have GOPer candidates running in your area/state/kingdom, get your bony ass to the voting booth, and even if you don’t like them personally (unless the Demo candidate is truly a better choice), hold your nose and vote GOPer.
It’s our country, too, not just THEIRS.
Roger that
Wow. Mucho booboo on my part! The DATE is November 6th, next Tuesday. My bad! Sorry.
Next Tuesday???
Just had to laugh a little over that one. Not that I could ever relate to making a mistake in an attempt to correct a mistake…teehee.
😉
I’ve heard that the D-rats have also adopted raising taxes as one of their campaign pledges. I hope that’s true because all that will get is the gimme fleabags still living in their Parents’ basements!
If you have a child in their junior year high school who likes stem programs: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, I recommend you check this out. Application deadline by Oct 31st. Locations Hawaii, Colorado, Georgia, Texas, and Maryland.
No crying at TAH! (Sorry boys and girls, had to throw that out there.) Depression is a reality. Another part of that reality is taking care of yourself, and doing what needs to be done so you can be around for your family and friends, being meds or therapy or whatever the fuck it takes. I am a filthy leg, but I am about to jump off my pedestal. Good day/night/morning to all.
In Florence SC, a 74 year old Disbarred Lawyer has killed a cop and shot 6 more. I am appalled that he didn’t “self murder” himself. Perhaps when he bonds out, he will use a light sport plane and “self murder” himself.
In Florida News, Phelonious Phony, Kyle Christopher Barwan, State Convict No. H50625, from Midlothian Illinois is getting closer to being released to once again, prey on innocent people. But, while in prison he got the coveted treatment normally reserved for custom engines. He has now been fully Bored and Stroked. Each of his Cell mates over the last year or so have been “Blown”, leaving them Supercharged. He is now located at the Avon Park, Florida Correctional Institution:

Anyone seen or heard from Yef lately? He’s kinda been like that sometimes air-headed Kid Brother that you wonder if he didn’t run off to join the Hare Krishnas!
I haven’t but I need to ask what his award/accolade was that shifted the tides so quickly? We all love picking on him (emphasis on love for the dude) but I’m out of the loop.
Silver Star
Bravo Zulu.
I believe he said he was in classes and is thoroughly busy for a while.
Believe he did a brief fly-by last week or so. I’ll check.
So, I got yet another new job after my previous one seemed to hemorrhage clients and killed my hours. Some could argue there is dishonesty in the ranks and the flip-side is “[Customers] just want the impossible.”
Both are sort of right but I need to pay bills and buy dog-food. Considering the conclusion of that cluster-fuck wouldn’t benefit me in any way I found a new place:
We make cardboard boxes.
I absolutely love it already (I loved my last job as well do not get me wrong but I don’t work for fun).
The facility manager asked me if a $3.4 million machine makes me nervous or will interfere in my decision making. I reached back to my C-17 days:
“Sir, I handled an entire fleet of $980,000/1 Ea. aircraft. Your process is in good hands.”
Then I puked in the parking lot. But I got the job!
Edit:
$980,000,000 per Block 17 C-17 as of 2007.
My bad. I should call Dover and double-check if I missed a digit or three programming the Flight Control Computers.
Things have been a little sketchy since Sky-Net became self aware, so have a couple of questions:
Has the Navy named a new MCPON yet?
Any speculation/report yet on what got the 3d SEAC Shit-Canned?
Disregard the MCPON question. My friend Google-Fu tells me that a fella named Smith was installed on 29 Aug 18.
A day late and several bucks short, but present and unaccounted for.
In good news, the doctor was very, very happy with the biopsy report. PSAs down a full point and only 1 in 12 core samples showed any cancer. We will return to annual monitoring of PSAs and sticking a finger up my democrat-expeller.
Not so good news, my brother is hospitalized with passing blood from an unidentified cause. Not necessarily serious, but in his state any problem can become serious quickly.
Otherwise, all quiet on the East Texas front.
Kavanaugh confirmed!
Keg party at Bretts house!
And in other news, there will be no CinC’s Trophy this year for Navy since they managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory in a 35-7 loss to the (Gasp) AFA yesterday.
Go Army, Beat Navy!!
