Think Progress award-winning blogger charged with faking her own Hate Crime
Yeah, who could have seen this one coming.
The University of Wyoming Police Department says Meg Lanker-Simons created the anonymous threat of sexual violence targeted at her on social media last week.
The university announced Tuesday that campus police cited Lanker-Simons for misdemeanor interference with a police investigation.
Lanker-Simons accused an anonymous source of posting a threat of rape on the Facebook page “UW Crushes” on April 24. But the citation issued Monday claims Lanker-Simons admitted to making the post, then lying about it….
“I want to hatef— Meg Lanker- so hard,” the Facebook post read. “That chick that runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it. I think its hot and it makes me angry. One night with me and she’s gonna be a good Republican b—-.”

University of Wyoming student Meg Lanker and University of Illinois-Chicago Professor Dr. William Ayers filed suit against UW and UW President Tom Buchanan in federal court in Cheyenne Thursday afternoon seeking an immediate injunction against the university for the “current and imminent violations of plaintiff’s (Lanker and Ayers) rights guaranteed under the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.”
University of Wyoming Communications Director Jessica Lowell had no comment.
Filed by attorney David Lane, the complaint alleges that UW “acting under color of state law” has barred Ayers from speaking on campus and further declared that such actions are prior restraint against the rights of Ayers and Lanker to freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of association.
One of the specific threats allegedly was this:
Maybe someone could take him out and show him the Matthew Sheppard (sic) Commerative (sic) Fence and he could bless it or something
Only source I can find on that one right now is Ayers himself. But, maybe some more digging.

Imagine a “Minority Report” scenario here…she was simply using precognition to report on an as-yet committed crime which I’m sure has been planned by many a suitor. It’s science, man.
There is also a grandfather paradox to consider here. If she hadn’t complained about her own complaint, then that first complaint might have ceased to exist, ripping a gaping hole in the entire ti9me/space/hoax continuum.

Instead of making sh1t up she could have just used the FBI UCR reports to discover that rape like all other violent crimes is declining. However, even while it’s on the decline it’s still far more prevalent in our society than most Americans would like to see. She could have espoused any number of theories on reduction methodology, causology, etc… that supported her position. David Lane sent the school a letter Monday saying he had been retained by student Meg Lanker. He contends the university violated the First Amendment when it canceled a speech Ayers was scheduled to give in March.
He gave the university until noon Wednesday to respond.
A university spokesman didn’t immediately return messages left after business hours Monday seeking comment.
Lane previously represented former University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill, who was dismissed for alleged plagiarism and research misconduct following criticism of an essay in which he compared some 9/11 victims to a Nazi.

Idiots like this hurt more than help their own cause. By making up crap she is diverting attention away from the issue of sexual misbehavior/ assault on campus. Not a person on this site condones even as much as inappropriate comments towards females on campus, much less stalking and assault or date rape. I believe that if any group of followers of this blog caught someone trying to rape a college female there wouldn’t be anything but a grease spot for the coroner to pick up.

Nontheless, when Khruschev visited the US in 1960 my dad could follow much of what Khruschev was saying when he gave speeches – dad guessed about 60% or thereabouts. Not enough to translate accurately, but enough to get the main points of the speech.
I’ve been told all the Slavic languages are broadly similar. An acquaintance who speaks Serbo-Croatian tells me that the term “yep” in English is very similar to a relatively crude term Serbo-Croatian. And I also understand the term means the same in Russian. (smile)

I didn’t go downtown in Chicago last summer when the Occupy people were there, for a very good reason: they were almost dead-set on being destructive. They said so before the NATO conference even started, that they would engage in random acts of violence by destroying businesses along their march route. That isn’t politics. It isn’t even protest. It is just pure, unadulterated hatred on a par with the hate that the Taliban/al-Qaeda have for everyone who isn’t one of them.

I don’t see why not. I’ve heard of a few cases where minor girls with naked pictures of themselves on their cell phones have been charged with child porn.
B Woodman, Nik: if nothing else, she can certainly be nailed for filing a false police report. That will look simply wonderful on a job application or in a BI report.
This type of scum usually consider a police record to be a resume enhancer. Not that there is anything wrong with them, of course, but that alone tells you how warped their minds are.
Yeah, false reporting, though often a misdemeanor, is a good choice. If filed properly, perhaps even a felony based on the cost of the investigation – man hours, plus whatever else can be added into the total cost of the false report.
There are two words you don’t use lightly.
One is “wolf!” The other is “rape”.
Use either of them too often and no one will listen to you.
Durnburnit, it was hard enough before the 1970s to get women who said they’d been raped taken seriously, because it was frequently by someone they knew and it was blown off by the cops, many times with a lot of vulgar jokes about it.
Someone like this, who seems to think it’s okay to abuse this to get attention has got rocks in her head. She puts all other women in danger of not being believed when they receive threats of any kind. I would personally like to see the cops come down on her like an old building.
