Texas homeowner shoots alleged burglar
SHERMAN, Texas — Around 5 p.m., on Monday, June 17, 2024, Sherman Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of E Ida Road in response to a shooting.
The homeowner reported finding an adult male burglarizing his shed. When confronted, the suspect allegedly charged at the homeowner with an object. The homeowner then discharged his firearm, striking the suspect in the hand.
Officers located the suspect and transported him to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He is expected to recover.
Police identified the alleged burglary suspect as 36-year-old Jose Menjivar. He has since been charged with burglary of a building.

Police in Washington state are investigating a shooting after an Uber driver was found allegedly sexually assaulting a female passenger over the weekend.Uber driver Ahmed Ali, 58, allegedly attacked the “highly intoxicated” woman while taking her home on Saturday, according to Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver allegedly used the Uber app to make it look like he had dropped the woman off at her destination in the county, around an hour from Seattle. Instead, he took her to a secluded area.
The woman’s family grew worried when she did not arrive home, and her father tracked her phone to a well-known fishing spot.
When he arrived, he found his daughter naked in the back of the Uber. The driver had allegedly moved back to the front seat and appeared to be holding his pants up, Fox13 reported.
At some point during the incident, shots are believed to have been fired as officials reported finding two shell casings in the area. It’s not clear if the alleged victim’s family shot the man. Police filings stated that the victim’s family “beat up” Ali.
The Uber driver attempted to flee but deputies intercepted and stopped the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver was injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Ali was later charged with second-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping.

I saw a couple of pics of Mr Ali at arraignment. He wasn’t beat up nearly bad enough. Too bad. The girl’s family could have done a real community service, but didn’t go nearly far enough.
Keep your paws offen other folks’ stuff. Too bad we don’t know what the OOTF was. Then we’d know whether or not it was in “The Book”.

Reported injuries were from a beating of the uber driver / rapist. So why does it say the family shot him? Just because there were 2 casings in the area? Sumpin doesn’t add up here…
It says that there were two shots fired. No details on who shot (at) who, if anyone was hit, where the boolits went…..
The Uber driver in Washington State got off lucky, IMHO.
Had that been my daughter/granddaughter* I would have drilled him center-mass with a JHP or three, in a caliber significant and sufficient to the application.
*note: I am grateful that none of our daughters/granddaughters would be willingly intoxicated to begin with, nevertheless the cure for rapists would still apply were they to be.
