That b**** set me up

| February 11, 2009

Yesterday, I wrote about Marion Barry and his tax problems. Well, today we find out why he can’t file his taxes in time. That kidney bitch set him up;

D.C. Council member Marion Barry said last night that he has been undergoing dialysis and expects to have a kidney transplant, which has distracted him from filing a recent tax return.

His failure to file a 2007 return has led prosecutors to urge a judge to revoke his probation for past tax offenses and send him to jail.

Barry (D-Ward 8), a former D.C. mayor, said in an interview with WUSA-TV (Channel 9) that his health matters have been “consuming” and have dominated his thinking.

He said there was “no excuse” for not filing the 2007 return, but “that’s the reason.” He said he would “absolutely” file if his return has not already been sent in.

Prosecutors have said he has failed to file his taxes on time in eight of the past nine years. He was placed on probation after pleading guilty in 2005 to not filing from 1999 to 2004, a period when he did not hold office.

There you have it – he started having kidney problems last year, but it led to him not filing his taxes for eight of the last nine years. Luckily, it didn’t keep him from buying $14k in bling or running for councilman. Is anyonenoticing how nothing is Barry’s fault?

You should really read the comments (free registration required). Apparently, the Washington Post is just reporting this to distract from the stimulus package passing. If you’re wondering how Barry can continue to get away with shit he does, here’s a example of the attitude i deal with everyday on the way to work;

He’s a Democrat. Don’t you know that the law does NOT apply to Democrats? I’m thinking about changing my political party so that I do NOT have to OBEY or follow the Law. If (and when) I’m caught breaking the law, all I have to say is, “I’m a DEMOCRAT! The LAW doesn’t apply to me! The law ONLY applies to Republicans!”

If, and when the Democratic Gun laws pass, I’ll certainly DO the Democratic-thing, I’ll simply ignore them. Do I own a gun? Oh, HELL NO (maybe I’ll fess up to that broken .22 caliber pistol). Here, Mister Government, here’s my broken down .22 pistol. Have a nice day.
