Guidi, phony POW, arrested
Pablo sends us a link to the news that Robert Guidi, the phony Green Beret Special Forces postal clerk was arrested in New Jersey;
Robert Guidi, 66, was arrested on Saturday following an investigation by Wharton police after it was reported that Guidi’s claims of holding the rank of sergeant or captain in the U.S. Army and of being a POW in Vietnam were fabricated, Wharton police Lt. David Young said in a news release.
Officer Robert Ornelas investigated the report and determined Guidi was never a POW and that he was discharged from the military as a Private First Class. Guidi allegedly used his reported status to receive a new deck and a hunting item, with a total value of more than $30,000.
In Dec. 2013, Guidi received a new deck to replace the one he lost during Superstorm Sanday, Neighbor News reported. Guidi estimated at the time the cost of the materials and labor was more than $30,000.
[…]
Guidi’s been charged with theft by deception and with violating the New Jersey Stolen Valor Act. He was remanded to Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail, police said.
I’m conflicted. If he was given the deck for being a Vietnam veteran, he was a Vietnam veteran. But if he was given a deck because he was a Special Forces sniper, POW captain, then he wasn’t any of those things. I can see them punishing him for lying about the POW thing, but not for the rest of it. Unless someone is willing to admit that we only give free stuff to Special Forces snipers. Like I said, I can see them pounding on him for claiming to be a POW, but not because he was “only” a postal clerk. I mean, he went to Vietnam when many of his generation didn’t. He shouldn’t have lied, he should have admitted the truth from the beginning. So, like I said, I’m conflicted.

Here let me fix the conflicted issue. People have a right to be full of shit, as the recent decision on Swisher points out.
There is a difference between saying a thing and doing a thing. What he did was use his embellishment in whole or in part to receive a tangible benefit.
People have a right to be full of shit…to a point. I also have a right to voice my opinion on their nonsense.
The Swisher ruling will be used by clowns like this to diminish their guilt.
Nothing can diminish their guilt. You’re either guilty or you’re not. “Not guilty” isn’t the same as “Innocent”. Guidi is guilty of multiple counts of douchebaggery and aggravated idiocy. The Swisher ruling won’t reduce his guilt, only his punishment. I have a sneaking suspicion that TAH and google will pretty much put him in time-out till he gets the final time-out.
Dave this turd is a SHIT-BAG….
now I wonder why it’s ok for these piles of Poop to play solider, but when they play Cop they either get their skulls smashed or if you live in Vegas you get a fail drill (aka) two to the chest one in da head Lol…..
Equal time for the same crime Lol….
Thanks to TAH Lol…
I have no more empathy for turds like I did when I first started hanging out here many moons ago
and before I forget the comp and pen friend from Nevada that turned me on to this Drug (TAH)
I’ve never laughed before like I do Now
BHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! ! ! ! ! !
Skip, it’s because no matter how much you want to win the heart and mind of the douchebag that wants to play Soldier (1 in the heart and 2 in the mind), we’re disciplined enough to NOT do it. Luckily, most ass-clowns that want to play Soldier slink away when faced down by a real Soldier. Wannabe cops tend to escalate things and bring loaded firearms or criminal (rape, robbery, or combinations of both) into the mix. And God willing, or inshalla, or happy accident as your faith allows, they get DRT or SFH (seiously fuckin hurt). The pretend Soldiers tend to be less aggressive and run a financial scam.
I am glad you have seen the light brother. Try to avoid the purple Kool Aide. I only hang around here to keep an eye on these ultra right wing loons.
I try to get some of them the benefit of doubt, but damn, they make it so hard.
For the life of me I will never understand why anyone would walk around with fake awards on. Its like cheating at solitaire, whats the point in playing.
Semper Fi.
I sent Jonn a Frago more on the way
I’d like to read the warrant, to see what the specifics of the charges are. The article basically says he was charged and held on $25K bond.
Now if NJ would take care of the no talent ‘wannabees’ there, it would be a perfect place. Suffice it to say that my service was not long, but it was honorable. The ASSHOLES shit ON all those families who have lost loved ones & these POSers love to mop up & one up ALL those involved.
I’m not conflicted. I doubt too many postal clerks no matter where they served gets a new deck. I’m pretty sure he lied his ass off to get that deck.
btw: isn’t that the tower of power he is sporting? Was he all that? No. Did Postal Clerks in Vietnam wear The Green Beret? No. He served in Vietnam and should have left it at that. Lieing sack of shit he is.
Damn it all to hell. Wish I never became aware of the stolen valor phenomenon. If it were only civilian fakes then I could deal with it. But I’m so fucking tired of these legit veterans giving themselves reach arounds. I think I’m gonna get the ptsd simply from these fucking worthless and useless fucktards alone.
They way he wears that beret is a criminal act. That’s how hipster girls wear them, not Special Forces.
Ex post facto laws are expressly forbidden by the United States Constitution in Article 1, Section 9, Clause 3 (with respect to federal laws) and Article 1, Section 10 (with respect to state laws).
Theft by deception should not be an issue.
IMHO he ought to be arrested just for wearing that living abortion of a uniform collage in public, but yes, I’m somewhat conflicted as well. He DID serve in Vietnam, but how much of his bullshit embellishment got him to the front of the line for the new deck he received?
From reading the complete article on getting a new 30K deck built, it was his claim of being a Purple Heart recipient that put him at the head of the line to make it happen.
That alone is sufficient grounds for a Stolen Valor arrest for receiving a tangible benefit based on false claims.
Hell, even in the picture of him standing on the new deck, he is wearing a Purple Heart hat although he was never awarded a PH.
I say he got his just desserts for being a LSOS.
This deconflicts much. Just being a Viet Nam era Vet wasn’t good enough, so Faq-keem.
OKAY, looking at it that way I say Fa’ kheemalot! Like I said, just wearing that living abortion of a uniform ought to be enough to get him arrested.
Maybe they will make him the Prison Postal Clerk.
And he should not have been given a deck because he was a Vietnam Veteran. My father never got a deck.
He, IMO, was given the goods for faking the hardcore funk.
Fuck this turd.
Splash. Out.
I don’t have a problem with him being a Vietnam Vet and them fixing up his fucked up deck. Lying about it makes him a douche-bag. I imagine his arrest has to do with falsifying a federal, state or county document of some sort.
#NotConflicted
This jackass is reason enough to not bring up military service. He’s an embarrassment for various reasons, one of which is lying to get ‘stuff’ and not paying for it.
If it were a new stove, that’s one thing, and it’s not expensive, but $30K for a new deck and hunting equipment? He conned people, plain and simple, and he’s going to make people who want to be generous have second thoughts.
I don’t want to be lumped into the same social category with this jerk. Screw him.
Just an idea that came to me out of reading these posts. When are we going to wise up, pitch in and start our own television show
America’s Got Posers!
Why are we giving this man a deck, when some of the greatest Italians in the world never got a dinner?
Awesome monologue. Apropos, too.
OMG! I think I woke my wife from laughing out loud!
Does this video clip have the Frank Visconi seal of approval? (smile)
Oh yes – it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Red Buttons himself just last week!
GI Joe rockin’ the tiger stripes.
And modern-day USAF tiger stripes to boot. I’m pretty sure those are ABUs.
Time to check statue of limitations concerning STOLEN VALOR FRAUD….FOUR YEARS AGO LAST DECEMBER 11TH..I got time.
Don’t be too conflicted Jonn, I read the story and understood that because of his “reported status” he received the deck. I took that to mean his status as a POW, which is not accurate under any circumstance.
The reality of it will be what happens in court, will the judge see what you see, a liar who did serve in Vietnam and cut the man some slack? Perhaps so, it wouldn’t be the first time that someone who served honorably received probation instead of incarceration due to service.
It’s not the lie, it’s the fraud that’s the crime and that’s the separate issue. Fraud’s always been a crime.
Fraud being a crime and lying not being a crime is why SCOTUS declares most of these laws unconstitutional unless they apply a fraud test into the law through the words “tangible benefit”…an intangible like female company isn’t enough to go to jail which is good for lots of guys who lie to women.
You tell the lies, you take the money, you are obligated to then take your chances in the legal system.
Not conflicted here. You lie about military service and get a free drink, you have committed fraud and deprived someone of the price of the drink. Extrapolating to a new deck plus whatever? Oh, yeah. He lost whatever breaks he should otherwise expect.
Guidi: You served, apparently honorably enough to deserve our respect. You earned more than most do, but then you blew it. You are scum and now deserve to do hard time for it.
