Politics drive Democrats’ war policy

| May 23, 2008

This goes along with the bit I wrote this morning about Joe Biden and his misguided recitation of the history of our war against terror. Jeff Emmanuel (by way of Ace of Spades) caught Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-PA) showing his ass, and hanging the collective ass of the Democrat leadership out to dry in the midday sun;

ARVE Error: need id and provider

The transcript of the tape reads (again, from Emmanuel);

“I’ll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we…the Democrats, I think pushed it as far as we can to the end of the fleet, didn’t say it, but we implied it. That if we won the Congressional elections, we could stop the war. Now anybody was a good student of Government would know that wasn’t true. But you know, the temptation to want to win back the Congress, we sort of stretched the facts…and people ate it up.”

So the Democrats put their own political priorities ahead of the priorities of the people of the Untied States – their employers. As Emmanuel points out, this is no surprise to those of us who’ve been paying attention. But if a Republican had made a similar public admission, it’d be broadcast coast-to-coast every half hour. Emmanuel;

The impression the Democratic Congress gave during those minor-at-best wars over the continuation of the War was that it was simply incompetent. Reps. Pelosi, Hoyer, et al wanted to end the war as soon as possible — at least, that’s what they kept saying. Unfortunately for those who largely elected them on that basis, the best and brightest Democrats in elective office were simply unable to figure out any way to outsmart and outmaneuver the buffoon in the White House on the issues of wartime budget and policy, instead (inadvertently, I’m sure) ending every fight on the wrong side from their point of view, having yet again given the President every single thing he was asking for.

Ace asks;

Should they be brought up on murder charges as well?

Michele Malkin quotes that great philosopher Krusty the Klown;

As Krusty the Klown once remarked, “Oh crap, I said the loud part quiet and the quiet part loud!”

I expect our resident “usual suspects” to let the Democrats off with the typical “everybody does it” defense.
