IVAW’s Josh Simpson can’t keep his story straight

| September 7, 2009

Just cruising through my feeds this afternoon, I came across this YouTube video from Venezuelan Television. It’s an interview with IVAW’s Josh Simpson who tells harrowing stories of interrogations while he was a US Army interrogator.

Keep in mind that this the first of a series of four interviews by VZTV, the government-owned Telesur, attempting to warn Venezuelans that Americans and Colombians are intent on invading Venezuela – I guess because we don’t have enough poor people, so we have to enslave some more. Ed. Note: Although the program portion of this interview is in Spanish, Josh’s answers are in English;

So I did a little research on Joshua and found that he’d claimed to be an interrogator a few times in the media – like this interview from Dahr Jamail last year;

Here’s another on an Arab language website in which he he claims he was on a Tactical Human Intelligence Team;

But then I started running into quotes like this one from Simpson that made me think maybe he wasn’t a interrogator;

Notice that Dahr Jamail did two interviews with Simpson, and Simpson “fooled” Jamail into thinking he held two different jobs during his year in Iraq. Jamail couldn’t be bothered to verify Simson’s competing stories as long as the stories fit Jamail’s story line.

So I went over to IVAW’s website and looked up his profile;

Lo and behold, Simpson was an infantryman, not an interrogator. But that hasn’t stopped him from going on Venezuelan TV and Arabic newspapers to tell them his stories.

So I guess IVAW isn’t above distorting their message for the hire of thugs and dictators like Hugo Chavez.

Frankly Opinionated

IVAW has proven themselves to be pure cowards, storytellers, and outright liars. Other than those traits, I see them as a bunch of sissies.

First, I’m ashamed to say this toolbag was in my brigade. There are no interrorgator positions on the Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) of a Stryker Infantry Battalion. The interrogators belong to the Military Intelligence Company which belonged to my Squadron until we deployed. They were then task organized to each of the line battalions. Never heard of the guy. Don’t know why he had to lie about his service (well actually I do), as 3-21 faced some very tough fighting in Mosul and B Co. was attached to our Squadron while in Rawah. The Brigade won a Valorous Unit Award during that deployment. That alone should be enough reason to be proud. Apparently not for Simpson.

Excuse my French here, but what the fuck is this guy doing on Chavez owned Venezuela TV??? It would be one thing for this guy to have done his time and protested against the war and or US policy right here in the United States.

But to go and pull this shit on Venezuelan TV??? Fucking Pathetic.

Yet another IVAW fraud claiming to be some Secret Squirrel type. How this group is treated by the media as a Serious Organization is beyond belief. I;m just wainting for some schmuck to claim he was an Army Astronaut in Taji doing Space Shuttle recon flights over Route Redlegs to complete the Douchebaggery of this group.

Can this sack-o-sh** have his passport cancelled while still overseas, thus denying “him” re-entry into the US which he obviously no longer likes? Or can he be arrested for treason or sedition during time of war?

I wish. It seems that the freedom of speech is slowly mutating into the freedom of lying. The irony of it all is that these men are fabricating such fisherman’s tales and beyond “in the name of truth.” This, of course, suggests that they have high-flying issues with their self-esteems. Hence the constant need to have their faces plastered on television.

Sean

Hey, also remember as good International Socialists they get solidarity by pimping these fools out to leftist countries. We already know IVAW is infested with them like roaches,

i was a counterintelligence agent for 5 years on active duty in the army.

During my time in Iraq i did interrogations as a member of a tactical humint intelligence team (human intelligence, that means source ops and interrogations, for those who don’t know).

My THT was attached to 3-21 infantry in mosul, iraq. If you ever turned in detainees to the detention center on FOB freedom, than you probably saw me.

I can post my dd 2-14 if you tools still think you have a case or post my awards from my time in iraq even.

Also, i wish you guys luck on finding obama’s Kenyan birth certificate while your at it.

I know Josh, he was an interrogator. His IVAW profile proves nothing, have you seen his DD214, I’m going to guess the answer is no. Before you go publishing lies you might want to get your facts straight shitbag.

Vet

Excuse me DD 2-14.

Dear Josh,

Can you find ONE person to support your claim, such as a First Sergeant or officer who was in your chain-of-command?

Failing that, go suck on a grenade, poseur.

Vet

Jonn,

First, thanks for letting me know that I had DD214 right the first time, I appreciate it. Second, his profile doesn’t state his job, it simply shows he was in an infantry unit, which he was. So, as I said, his profile proves nothing.

NHSparky,

Your request would be valid if their was a chance a First Sergeant or Officer specifically from his unit would speak out in general. The question for you is obviously not rooted in the honesty of Josh’s speech but rather, whether or not he speaks on behalf of the discourse you support. Your type of discursive favoritism is linked only weakly to a search for truth and instead favors a search for what you project to be truth. It is also firmly grounded in your ideology which, I assume, contains a certain brand of American Exceptionalism and ultimately culls statements, true or false, which don’t fit your adopted schema.

NHSparky

Wow–all those fifty-cent words to simply say GFY? Why the wasted effort on trying to spin your (his) way out of actually, oh, I don’t know, establishing his credibility? I’m not one to simply discount facts out-of-hand because they don’t fit my particular agenda.

Projecting much, are we?

Vet

The “fifty-cent words” weren’t meant to mask the issue of credibility. Credibility, under your terms, requires that Josh find higher level officials to corroborate his statements. You know, subconsciously or not, that the burden of proof you’ve established is unlikely to be met (even if Josh is telling the truth) and therefore you can remain secure in “knowing” that your assumptions about Josh and the rest of the IVAW are validated.

NHSparky

Unlikely, or unwilling? Pick one.

“Vet,” Thanks for demonstrating (DD214 v. DD 2-14) that you are ignorant of all things Veteran. Perhaps, it’s short for Veternarian?

Jonn, I don’t know if you watched through episode 3, but that’s when Josh demonstrates his true colors, quoting Che while calling for Americans to “get radical” to end the wars. #3 in the series is where they go to commercial to deride the US’s aid to South America and campaign against the Colombian President. Following the commercial Josh is joined by another IVAW clown for a 2nd show.

It’s hard to say whether Josh is more concerned with promoting the Socialist Revolution, er, “Bolivaran” Revolution, (Bolivar is rolling over in his grave wondering how his efforts to bring Democracy and Independence to South America has been tarnished with Chavez and Che.) or DADT.

But Josh’s accounting how the Reserves viewed him as a “bad employee” for not showing up to drill as opposed to AWOL made it easy for him to conduct his subversive activities. It was also interesting that he felt the courage to speak out to his fellow Soldiers, whenever he thought they might be anti-war themselves, but seemed to lack the courage to discuss his convictions if there was a hint that they would hold an opposing view.

I hate that I missed this article on its first go round, but Josh is a coward and traitor who should never have been allowed to view a uniform, much less wear one. It is quite strange that he would go to a dictatorial socialist Nation hostile to the United States, wearing the uniform of “the imperialist forces” to spew lies that he admits were inspired by “pictures from textbooks” of “the way slaves were treated.”

He is however a poster child for the IVAW and for the “search for what [Vet] projects truth to be”
