Where’s the Beef/Pork/Chicken?????

| May 5, 2020

Meat production is down at processing plants. We know that. Tyson is having to euthanize hogs because too many plant workers are out of the work line and Smithfield is in the same boat as Tyson. It isn’t just pork: it’s beef and chicken, too.

From the article: The day after the president signed the order, JBS USA announced it would partially reopen its pork production facility in Worthington, Minnesota — but only to euthanize hogs that won’t be processed because of bottlenecks in the supply chain.

“While our focus is on getting the Worthington facility back to work on behalf of our team members producing food for the nation, we believe we have a responsibility to step up when our producer partners are in need,” Bob Krebs, President of JBS USA Pork, said in a statement. “None of us want to euthanize hogs, but our producers are facing a terrible, unprecedented situation.”

The National Pork Producers Council also praised the order but acknowledged that hogs will still go to waste.

“While getting pork packing plants back online is foundational, the tragic reality is that millions of hogs can’t enter the food supply,” the council said in a statement, adding “we need coordinated partnership between the industry and federal, state and local authorities to euthanize pigs.”

The challenge for Tyson: While meat processing plants have ground to a stop, consumer demand for meat is up. – article: https://wgntv.com/news/coronavirus/tyson-warns-more-meat-plant-closures-are-coming/

Well, I can only say they’d better do something besides knock off those porkers. If I run out of bacon, never mind ham, chicken and briskets, there will be hell to pay. The noises that will emanate from my kitchen should scare the hair off a skinny black cat.

Just got back from a grocery run Ex-PH2 and plenty of pork & chicken there.

In fact, boneless chick breasts were $.99/lb
(no limit) and pork roasts (with bone in) were also $.99/lb @ a limit of two per customer. Did I mention that the roasts were between 6-8 lbs. each?

Not cock-a-doodle-dooing, but going to be livin’ high on the hog for awhile. (grin)

MSG Eric

Yep, I bought some extra chicken to throw in my freezer this week, just in case. I even found some toilet paper finally! People are starting to chill on the TP hoarding apparently.

Try to find some isopropyl alcohol in stores lately?

SFC D

Try Everclear as a replacement. Can be in short supply sometimes as well.

Everclear? Active ingredient in VP-23 deployment Over The Hump party quaff, known as Seahawk Sauce.
Brrrrr…..

Hondo

Dunno about the “party quaff” part, but if you’re looking for high-strength alcohol solution that’s one way to go – albeit a hellishly expensive one compared to rubbing alcohol. Depending on your state, it’s either 75% or 95% ABV.

Generic 100 proof vodka might be a better choice. At 50% ABV, it will still nuke most germs and viruses pretty quickly, without simultaneously nuking your wallet. In a pinch, even 80 proof should work.

Seahawk Sauce recipe was known to only a select few Ordies, right there a red flag. Brains overboard and a blinding hangover the next (same?) day. For the next three deployment OTH parties I stuck with beer and watched the festivities with interest.

While another chicken plant in a neighboring county is “euthanizing” chickens….

Doc Savage

I have been purchasing bulk meats and trimming them at home; Lady Savage has been taking a fair amount of the trimmings and mincing them to add to the cats daily meals…the end result has been a 2-5 am yowling parade, as they deposit toy mice, sparkle balls, and other assorted cat toys on her side of the bed.

It’s important to note that Tyson is on the take with supplying China for pork and Smithfield (owned by the Chicoms) is outright trying to manufacture and exploit the current situation.

Bannons WarRoom Pandemic had been covering this for last 2 weeks pretty regularly about the agenda here.

The lefties who drove this dem-panic in an effort to wreck Trump, many finally achieve here the usual result of Progressivism/Collectivism//Socialism/Marxism:

Famine

Famine here in the USA, a politically produced shortage of -food-, because they cannot handle being rejected by America.

No, we wont forget it. And thanks to various Donk’s going further and further overboard, their will be no way for them to deflect their culpability, and their aid to a hostile foreign power.

Made my FIRST provision run in a month this past Sunday. K Roger had a fairly decent supply, for a Sunday Morning, but nowhere near what they normally do. On good terms with the market manager there and he said they are thinning out the issue somewhat from the big warehouse. He mentioned that it will get critical in about 60 days, because the supply will be way down, the demand is not slacking off, ergo the price will be considerably higher. As much as 60% higher.

Damn shame they can’t/won’t just sell the critters straight to the good ol’ boys that know how to dress out a beast and go from there. Homeboy about 100 miles south of me was advertising on social media last week on buying 1/2 pig for $250.00 or a whole one for $500.00, cut, wrapped, ready to freeze. Had a 1 week delivery promise. His posting yesterday morning was same price but a 4 week lead time to come pick it up.

Where’s The Beef? Nearly 20% of Wendy’s Have Run Out of Beef
By: JOHN CARNEY

Nearly one-fifth of Wendy’s U.S. restaurants have run out of beef, according to a study by a Wall Street analyst.

James Rutherford, an analyst with Stephen Inc, said in a note recently that 1,043 Wendy’s restaurants, around 18 percent of the U.S. total, have listed beef items as out of stock.

Breitbart

Oddly, they’re still are serving what they call chili, which contains beef. I wouldn’t ruin a perfectly good hot dog with that stuff, though.

Houston’s carnicerias (probably misspelled) have plenty of supply, since they buy full animals and do their own butchering. Also we have a few good old fashioned butcher shops in town, they are doing a land office business and have plenty to sell!
