911 CALL: ‘I just killed him,’ woman won’t face charges after deadly shooting

AUGLAIZE COUNTY — A St. Marys woman will not face charges after she said she shot and killed her husband earlier this month in self-defense.

“My husband’s been beating me. I just killed him,” Stephanie Sweigart told 911 dispatchers. “He was beating me. He was going to kill me. He had a knife.”

Stephanie Sweigart’s husband Wesley Sweigart was found dead inside the house in the 200 block of Pershing Drive Feb. 8.

Stephanie Sweigart was taken into custody following the shooting. A grand jury declined to indict her for the shooting, the prosecutor’s office said.

She told dispatchers she was assaulted in the living room of the house and her husband told her to go back to the bedroom, according to the call.

“He told me that if I didn’t go…he was going to hurt me. He was going to stab me,” Stephanie Sweigart told dispatchers.

Security Officer Fatally Shoots Armed Man at Apartment Complex: Dallas Police
The guard was interviewed and released

By Eline de Bruijn
One person was found dead with a gunshot wound outside of an apartment building in Dallas on Tuesday night, police say.

Officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. to the 5300 block of Monmouth Lane where they found Jamal Patterson near the sidewalk and apartment breezeway, police said.

Patterson, 26, became upset after a commissioned security officer told him that he could not work on his vehicle in the parking lot, police said.

The guard and witnesses told police that Patterson punched the guard multiple times before going into his apartment to get a handgun, police said.

The guard shot Patterson multiple times after Patterson returned with a weapon, chambered a round and pointed it at the security officer, police said.

Patterson died at the scene. The officer called 911 and cooperated with the investigation. He was interviewed, and later released by police.

Two arrested in botched home robbery in Iowa Falls

JEFF REINITZ
OWA FALLS – A Mason City man and his girlfriend have been arrested in a home robbery after their victim grabbed their gun.

The victim then fired off two shots in self defense, missing the assailants.

Iowa Falls police arrested Matthew Shawn Victor Bridges, 28, of Mason City, formerly of Eldora, and Ny’Jaya Ryan Foster, 19, of Charles City, for first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and going armed, intimidation.

Court records allege that the two forced their way into a home at 1210 Ellis Ave. on Saturday in an effort to collect on a debt. Once inside, Bridges struck a resident with an Asp collapsible baton and asked Foster to hand him a .38-caliber revolver she was carrying.

The victim snatched the gun from Foster and shot at Bridges, who fled the house.

Two pair today, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, with none in the wind. While it’s generous for an attacker to lend his firearm, one shouldn’t count on his largess and have one’s own at hand.

The Righteous Brothers come to mind …….
    “You’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’…..”

Nothin’ sez lovin’ like havin’ to defend yourself from your knife stabbin’ hubby.

  2. Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH B Woodman says:

I guess Jamal won’t have to worry about working on his car in the apartment parking lot now.

    • Ret_25X says:

talk about a stupid thing to die over…geebus, man, just move the car!

On the upside, its not his problem anymore, on the other hand, now someone else has to clean up his mess.

      smh

      • David says:

Unusual restraint on the part of the security guard. Gets punched repeatedly, guy goes and gets a gun and jacks a round in before being shot? Most folks would have shot him as soon as he came out with the gun.

  3. 26Limabeans says:

I have an old Dymo label maker that looks
    just like that FN.

    • AW1Ed says:

      Does it make 5.56x45mm labels?
      *grin*

    • 5th/77th FA says:

Damn ‘beans I was just thinking the same thing. It’s not eggsxactly a fugly gun perse, you know, kinda like Ms Thang in a dark bar at 0200hrs. Your friends may be looking at you kinda strange when they see you with it, but secretly, they want some too. Wonder if it comes with a shoulder rig for concealed carry?

Two pair is still a winning hand, ‘specially when you have 2 dirtbags out of the gene pool forever, and 2 more that will be guests at the gray bar motel for awhile. Might want to get Claw to crank up the Whiz Wheel for home boy and Ms Hoodrat Thang in the Iowa story.

  4. CCO says:

    Ms. Sweigart, glad you’re ok.

  5. Claw says:

    The Whiz Wheel®™ spins and:

Jamal (Screw You, I ain’t moving my car) (DRT) = 75

Iowa Home Boy with four names (DAM) = 192

    Ms. HoodRat Thang Ny’Jaya (DAM) = 164

  6. AW1Ed says:

No bullpup fans here? They have their pros and cons, like most things firearm. Compact but still with a legal barrel length is obvious, but the ones I’ve, ahh, I’ve been told that the triggers really suck, doubtless due to the long linkage. Maybe FN fixed that.
