Police: Mother shoots, kills adult son outside her home

by Angelica Brown
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Tulsa police are investigating what led up to a mother shooting and killing her son outside her home near North Peoria and 51st Street North on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers say the mother and son got into an argument in her driveway, and the mother ended up shooting the son, who police later identified as 24-year-old Jamel Barnett.

“He did not live with here with her,” said Dedlorn Sander with the Tulsa Police Department. “I don’t know what the relationship is but whatever happened, it forced her to do what she did.”

After a full afternoon of interviews, Tulsa homicide detectives released the mother from custody.

“We won’t be arresting her,” said Sgt. Brandon Watkins. “We’ll still be investigating.”

Watkins went on to say that the woman is claiming self-defense.

Two pair today, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. Not too shabby. The Alabama woman needs a good lawyer, but consider the source.

Jamel…sigh. A real shame when you threaten your own Mother in such a way that she feels compelled to shoot you. A classic example of the old saying that many of us may have heard growing up…”I brought you into this world and I can take you out.” He shoulda paid heed to that.

Must be something in Brittany’s case they aren’t telling us. If Todd beat and raped her, he deserved to die…at her hand.

Vegas…Yep that looks like a bad shoot. Best get hisself a real real good lawer.

Never owned or even fired a SIG. Wouldn’t mind having one. Valentines Day is coming up, and a birthday in March. I wear a size .40 caliber.

Yeah, agree there is something more to the story. If eveidence clearly shows (which they stated) she was raped, and the perpetrator refused to leave after being asked to leave, and then violently refused when brother tried to force…something is definitely not being released. Alabama is usually a conservative state.

Maybe some retirees or the public can pick up for this kid, and help Ms. Foxx out with her expenses. He does not have to be involved, but since she was in contact with him it could still happen. Always funny to make the higher ups cringe! Usually it was the enlisted doing something like this!

I carried a Sig P226 the last 8 years on my department. Shooting expert was never so easy as when we transitioned to the 226. And, it was in .40 caliber.
