No Charges for Fatal Stabbing in Drug Deal Gone Bad
Officials say physical evidence and witness statements are ‘consistent (with self-defense)’
MISSOULA — No homicide charges will be filed for a fatal stabbing in Missoula after an investigation found the stabbing was done in self-defense after the victim assaulted and tried to steal drugs from the suspect, police said.
Joshua Michael Paniagua, 18, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with criminal distribution of dangerous drugs and tampering with evidence following the New Year’s Day death of Benjamin Mousso, 18, of Hamilton. No court date has been set for Paniagua.
An investigation found Mousso and two others conspired to steal marijuana from Paniagua by offering to trade it for methamphetamine. However, they did not have any meth, court records said.
Paniagua, accompanied by his mother, told police he had agreed to trade marijuana for meth on Jan. 1. He said Mousso punched him seven or eight times in the bathroom before he pulled out his knife to protect himself, court records said. Mousso was stabbed four times, police said.

Man shoots wife after she tried to kill him, says Natchitoches Sheriff’s Office
Melissa Gregory
A man shot his estranged wife in self-defense on Christmas Eve after she allegedly tried to kill him, and she now faces an attempted second-degree murder charge, according to a release.Angelique LaCaze, 54, was arrested on Tuesday by Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s detectives while shopping at a Natchitoches store after they had learned she’d checked herself out of a Baton Rouge facility where she’d been receiving treatment.
It began on the afternoon of Christmas Eve when the sheriff’s office got a 911 call about a shooting on hunting lease on La. Highway 480 near Bubba Ridley Road, north of Campti, reads a release.
When deputies arrived six minutes later, they found LaCaze on the ground with a gunshot wound to her hip. Her husband, 53-year-old Mickey LaCaze, was providing first aid to her, but told deputies she was trying to kill him.
Angelique LaCaze, of the 100 block of Posey Road in Natchitoches, was airlifted to Ochsner LSU Health Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
Detectives began investigating, learning that Mickey LaCaze had gone alone to his hunting lease earlier that afternoon. As he was sitting on his all-terrain vehicle, his wife “exited the woods and began firing a semi-automatic handgun at him,” reads the release.

Mossberg? That’s a funny looking shotgun. And small guage, too.
Roughly 105 gauge, actually, unless I’ve screwed up the math.
But I understand that slugs are WAY easier to find than shot for this one – and way cheaper, too. (smile)
I’m glad to read that today’s FGSs include two DRTs.
But that third one, that’s a soap opera. Angelique ain’t no angel. And the last name should be LaCrazy.
The placement of the shot reminded me of something I had read (once upon a time) about “head and hips, hips and head”. Apparently it works.
“Broad daylight?” That’s sexists! Or something. Daytime is the best time to take out the trash.
“MOM, Imma gonna go swap some pot for some meth.” “Ok son, take your knife in case you have to cut somebody.”
Mr. LaCaze broke the FIRST rule of relationships. Don’t stick yo d^ck in crazy. Check out them eyes in the linky pic. And to be only 54 ,’pears to have been rode hard and put up wet.
Pocket shotgun? No, just another 9mil/380 wanna be. Good review tho. 2 inch group at 45 feet ain’t too shabby. Review did make some references to the “like a Glock.”
Actually, it can indeed be a pocket shotgun.

But if it were me, I’d stick to slugs. (smile)
