We freeze the leftovers of the Christmas ham, and I cut them up into the grits water. I used to add shredded cheese, but one of her meds messes with her intestinal tract making cheese inadvisable.
Dip out hot and add a big ol’ pat of butter and a Texas Ruby grapefruit and Son! she’s happy. And when Momma is happy….
There’s only eight of us that don’t care about the Super Bowl? I thought there were more of us! I saw this Sunday more as “Groundhog Day” and “Candlemass”. If it weren’t for Facebook and this site, Superbowl would’ve come and went and I wouldn’t have been disappointed to miss it.
Only reason I know it’s coming is that our church had to move choir practice up so folks could go watch the commercials.
I’da missed it entirely, and never missed it.

War Story Alert! TINS. There I was at the 125th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Had a little hand in helping set up the gun line depicting the Artillery Bombardment prior to Pickett’s Charge. 50% scale in that we set up 75 pieces hub to hub. Had a “front row” seat of the gun line as they opened up. Stepped off with the Virginians as part of Armistead’s Brigade for the Infantry Assault. Henry Hunt’s guns tore us a new one as we approached the wall. It is amazing that anybody survived during the original fight. Worse than Malvern Hill or Fredericksburg.
My son did the Pickett’s charge in the 130th anniversary Gettysburg re-enactment. I had to stay home, as I had a jury trial that unexpectedly lasted for six weeks.
Kind of changes the definition of the term “Cannon Cocker”, doesn’t it?

When it comes to this kind of thing, I’m on the fence. I won’t believe it’s real until somebody brings in a live one or at least a fresh carcass. But I won’t believe it’s not real, either. So far, there’s no conclusive evidence either way. It seems unlikely that many famous cryptids could stay hidden today, but you never know. *Something* legitimately scared the shit out of those folks at Boggy Creek in Fouke, AR back in the 70s, though I don’t discount the possibility of alcohol combined with angry neighbors.
We all heard about “rock apes” over in the RVN, but we believed they were some primate or monkey that would sometimes throw rocks at us. I never heard they were six feet tall and vicious. I call bunk on this giant ape story.

Been doing admin shit. I got put on active duty for Rear Det a couple months back and I’m trying to play S1, which is WAY out of my comfort zone. I’m getting there, but it’s a different world. Can’t complain, though, I’m home every night, which is a big change from my civilian job. I’m also collecting 2 paychecks since my civilian employer just pays me while on military leave. Congrats to the King Of Battle for yet another First!

I was just messin’, FA. As punishment I had to work in S1 for a few months. I joined the Army to be an Infantryman to get out of an accounting office.
It was then I realized I done f’ed up: the only thing worse than working in an office, working in an office in the military.

I was talking with one of my young relatives which can be a task as she’s a true minion of Trudeau. She was harping on about semi-automatic weapons. I asked her to define her terms and compare and contrast semi-automatic with automatic weapons. She admitted she had no idea; she defended herself by asking if I would ever use a semi-automatic weapon. I said I would use a semi-automatic when a bolt action weapon wouldn’t be applicable. That ended the discussion; I had no answer for, “A what?”

It took a roll from his glove up his arm and bopped him in the ear – and he lost some enthusiasm. But I made him catch 3 more before he quit.

But now that his sentencing is complete, the Air Force will start the process to remove him from service, she said.
