Off-duty Philly officer opens fire after teens with gun make threat: Police
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — An off-duty Philadelphia police officer opened fire after authorities say he was threatened by two teenagers.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday on the 1000 block of West Chelten Avenue in the East Oak Lane section of the city.
The 18th District officer had just finished his shift and was parking his truck near his home when a 17-year-old boy tapped on the driver side window with a gun, according to police. A second 17-year-old boy, who did not have a gun, approached the passenger side window and told the officer to get out or he was going to get killed.

Denver homeowner shoots suspected burglar, police say

DENVER – A homeowner shot a man who was allegedly trying to break into the home through a window Friday night, police said.The suspect, Aaron Rivers, 25, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The shooting happened late Friday in the 4600 block of Wyandot in the Sunnyside neighborhood of northwest Denver.
Police said Rivers tried to break into the home through the front door. But when he didn’t make it inside, he began damaging furniture on the porch and broke the home’s front window, police said. He tried to enter the home through the window and the homeowner fired several shots, striking Rivers in the arm, police said.

Man Killed in Gunfight at Victorville Apartment Complex

A man died after a fight escalated into a gun battle at a Victorville apartment complex Friday evening, authorities said.Thurman Matthew, 40, of Victorville died at the scene of the shooting, which unfolded about 6:30 p.m. at the Casa Bella apartments, 16980 Nisqualli Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
He was fatally shot by Parnell Gutter, 28, of Victorville, officials said. Gutter had not been arrested Saturday, according to San Bernardino County booking records. Investigators said they planned to turn over their completed investigation to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.
“Detectives determined Parnell Gutter and Thurman Mathew were involved in an argument, and later it became a physical altercation,” the sheriff’s department said in a written statement. A short time after the fight, Mathew went to Gutter’s apartment and began shooting at the apartment, at which time Gutter returned fire and struck Mathew.”

Why do people break in to poor peoples houses and ask for everything they have? There is plenty of rich folks in California and Florida who regularly state they will not pick up arms to defend themselves. You could just not on the door like you are trick or treating and ask them to redistribute their wealth. No violence needed.

While it resembles one of the CO2 Crossmans, I think that thing is actually a spring-piston gun – looks like the barrel tips up from the rear. I am guessing that exposes the breech, you put the pellet or dart into the chamber, then close the breech which also compresses air into the compression chamber until you release the pressure using the trigger. Simple and fairly robust provided you keep all the seals in good shape. Judging by the heights of the front and rear sights, must have a low muzzle velocity and a rainbow trajectory. Not exactly sophisticated, and definitely follows in the British tradition of butt-ugly handguns. No wonder they dislike ’em.

Today’s homepage on my PC has a story about a Pregnant Mom saving her husband and 11 year old daughter last Wednesday night during a home invasion. While the perps had Dad on the deck kicking in his head, she came out of the bedroom with an AR-15 and opened up on the perps winging one and killing the second one. Was this mentioned last week on TAH FGS. I don’t remember. Happened in Lithia, florida.
