Self-defense shooting at Gulf Breeze home ruled justified

by Kristie Henderson
SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — The State Attorney’s Office has announced a decision after a Santa Rosa County man shot and killed his son in April.

The Office says the shooting death of Erich Gunter Reitz has been deemed justified and no charges will be filed.

On April 30, officials say Reitz stabbed both of his parents multiple times at their home at Blair Circle.

The father then shot Reitz, who authorities say later died at a hospital.

Assault Victim Shoots Two Time Attacker to Death

by Bob Irwin
Mountain News in Arrowhead, CA reports a 29-year-old resident of Crestline was shot July 11 at Lake Drive and Lake Gregory Drive moments after he began to assault a 27-year-old male victim. This is according to an incident report and a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives responded to a residence on Lake Gregory Drive to conduct the investigation. They learned that three men had approached the victim around 9 P.M.

The victim recognized one of the approaching men as an associate of a suspect who had beaten him up him back in January. That assault resulted in the victim being hospitalized.

As the three men approached, the victim felt threatened by them and their verbal taunts. He made his way toward his car.

Man found not guilty on all charges in Johnson City shooting

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. — A man was found not guilty Thursday on all charges in a Johnson City shooting which left his neighbor dead in 2016.

A jury found Michael Young not guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of Jose Mijares. Authorities said Mijares was shot once in the heart and died at a stop sign on Lambeth Drive after there was a road rage incident.

Young took the stand in his own defense earlier this week and claimed Mijares threatened to kill him and that’s why he shot him in traffic.

Three up, three down, and everyone out for the full count. Impressive.
The two in the wind? They’ll be back, eventually.

If you read the Ammoland on the one in California the man that did the shooting in self defense was arrested for murder after being investigated by detectives for conflicting stories regarding the incident. It is likely that the stories did change simply because of the mental picture changing after being involved in such a traumatic incident and the fact that he took another man’s life has got to play hell on his guilt complex. He’s currently in the San Bernardino county jail under $1,000,000 bail. Please note that the reason that he was being questioned was because to the shitty manner of transporting a firearm in a vehicle in California demands that they be carried in a locked trunk and cannot be loaded… In other words the politicians in that shitty place have deemed that the life of a perp is more valuable than anyone that tries to not be a victim and shoots back. Here’s a quote from the article in the SBC Sentinel regarding firearms in a vehicle… “Under California law, an individual without a concealed weapon permit can transport a firearm in a vehicle only if the firearm is unloaded and locked in the trunk or in a reasonably secure place in the front of the vehicle, with the ammunition for the gun in the opposite location, either the trunk or in the vehicle, which also must be locked. While many of those who carry firearms in their vehicles consider having them unloaded to be impractical, carrying a loaded firearm in a car or truck can be charged as a misdemeanor if discovered by a law enforcement officer. A second such offense can be ratcheted up to a felony.” In the Great State of Texas it is legal to keep a concealed firearm in your car, loaded without a permit, provided you meet all the prerequisites of being able to possess a firearm. In other words, if you’re not a slimebag felon… Another thing that I took away from this is the old adage, if you are involved in a shooting of any kind, say nothing,… Read more »

California laws on firearms are all over the place with no rational consistency and so much vagueness that even legal experts can’t tell for sure whether something is legal or not.

I resorted to disassembling one of my firearms and giving half to my uncle to keep. I also stored two out of state.

Don’t worry about your beloved state’s laws on firearms being vague and confusing. The judge will tell you which ones you are charged with violating when they march you into court for your arraignment.

I have a number of acquaintances that vote Left, but gripe about gun law stupidity. Saying “Don’t vote for gun-grabbing anti-constitution folks, and this wont happen” slides right past them. They are actively dissociating cause and effect, and griping about the result.

Is U.S. Law shield, which I am a member of is the same company as Texas Law Shield???

Everyone who has a gun should have self defense “insurance”.
These are not actually insurance, they do pay for a lawyer if you use your gun in self defense.
As Thunderstixx said, they are cheap and useful.
I have the one from US Concealed Carry Association, it covers any weapon, not just guns.
Only $1 per day and they will provide, bail, a lawyer, expert witnesses, and education on self defense law.
Andrew Branca over at Law of Self Defense says you should only talk to the police regarding witnesses and evidence. (pointing out the knife he threw into the bushes for instance) After that ask for your lawyer and clam up.
