Homeowner familiar with man who was shot after being mistaken for intruder

By Roslyn Anderson
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A man reportedly believed to have been an intruder was shot several times side inside a north Jackson home Tuesday morning.

It happened around 6:30 at a house in the 6,000 block of Lake Trace Circle.

The homeowner shares what he knows about the tragic ordeal.

“God wake you up, you don’t know what the day’s gonna hold,” said a man who came outside the house of the crime scene when our camera crew returned hours later.

The Lake Trace Circle homeowner, who does not want to be identified, said he was at work when he was called home following a shooting Thursday morning at his residence.

“You know he didn’t know who he was. He thought somebody was breaking in, coming in to do some bodily harm to someone,” the resident said.

The homeowner would not say who he was referring to or give any other details.

Whitehaven store owner opens fire on suspect

by Eryn Taylor and Melissa Moon
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police were called to Whitehaven overnight following a shooting at C&A Diesel Services in the 600 block of East Raines Road around 2 a.m. Friday.

Owners C.R. and Al Wilson were a little rattled after stopping a burglar in his tracks.

“He come in here and he didn’t realize my brother, we is in here all time of nigh,” one of the brothers said.

The owners said they were staking out the business, keeping an eye on things after they were robbed several months ago. They said at that time a man cut through their fence and stole about 25 batteries. Those batteries are worth about $200 a piece.

On Friday, they said the man came back and tried to rob them again, but they were ready.

UPDATE! Man who shot Virginia 7-Eleven robbers won’t be charged

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — A Virginia prosecutor says he won’t press charges against a man who shot two robbers holding up a 7-Eleven store, killing one.

The Virginian-Pilot reports the masked men entered the store with guns and demanded money last week. A man in in the back of the store fired at the robbers with a legally owned gun, killing one and seriously injuring the other.

Commonwealth’s Attorney spokeswoman Macie Allen says they aren’t revealing the man’s identity because he isn’t facing charges.

Medical examiner’s office spokeswoman Donna Price says 18-year-old Michael Moore died from a gunshot wound. Court documents say 18-year-old Ronald Lee Brookins was shot in the neck and was in a wheelchair at his arraignment. A third suspect, 19-year-old Deric Simons, wasn’t in the store, but has also been charged.

Today’s tally, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, stands as one DRT, three inconvenienced, and one in the wind, possibly leaking.

Nothing like having to get Sister Mary Grace and her # 15 yellow pencil up FIRST thing this morning. The class assignment is to find the errors in the FIRST two stories. The lessons for potential dirtbags is if you don’t try to rob and steal, then your chances of becoming DRT go way down. Glad to hear that the store owners will not be charged for defending their business.

Ahhh, the Colt Defender. A scaled down version of the designs of The Saintly John Moses (Howitzer be his name) Browning. As they are rather spendy, I am still squeezing my Lincolns to SAVE UP for my copy.

And Miss Thang? Ummmmm mmmm! I am in lust…err..err…Love…again!

Ex-PH2

Sister Mary Grace can only groan in dismay at the slaughter of the English language.

“We is…”

It wasn’t the sun that was in my eyes Air Boss, it was a leer in my eyes. I admit, I was eyeing that little girl with bad intents. But since you made mention of the deft way she is handling one of the designs of the much Saintly John Moses (Howitzer be his name) Browning’s creation, I will leave this here; I got a gunz she can handle. PSA, it has no safety and will fire off with little or no warning.

MI Ranger

Looks like a Para-Ordnance 1911… so yes I agree it is fine.
I could also swear that she is wearing a 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment “Currahee” shirt…but maybe it is just wishful thinking!

Michael Moore died while robbing a 7-11? Oh, happy day……… wait…… what? Wrong Mikey? DaHellYouSay! Damn! (sigh…….) Ok. Cancel the celebration.

Ex-PH2

Well, the possibility of the existence of more than one Michael Moore is always there. Still, anyone who needs three chairs to sit on….

There’s more on the Virginia Beach shooting:

“Ronald Lee Brookins Jr., 18, of Suffolk, is charged with two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, abduction and wearing a mask in public.

According to Navy officials, Brookins has been in the Navy under a year. He enlisted in December 2018 and is an airman recruit with the Navy Reserve Forces Command.

Deputy Public Affairs Officer for the Navy Reserve Forces Command, Lieutenant Adam Demeter said in a statement:

One of our Sailors completed his initial training at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training and failed to check in with his gaining command. He was subsequently placed in an ‘unauthorized absence’ status. After learning of the incident involving this Sailor, who now faces criminal charges following an attempted armed robbery of a convenience store, the Navy is fully cooperating with local authorities and offering any assistance with the investigation.”

I hope there aren’t any Moore of them robbing stores, but that would be a big mistake as as time goes on, there will still be Moore robberies which as the saying goes: No less no Moore.

Those jeans she is wearing looks like bell bottoms. Singing of bell bottom trousers, shirts of navy blue, let her climb the rigging like her daddy used to do.

Ex-PH2

They’re no longer referred to as “bell bottoms”.

They are now boot-cut, and that particular fashion style is receding to the background in favor of straight leg, tapered leg, and boot kick (less bell to the bottom) jeans.

Another fashion update brought to you by the current LLB catalog.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Thanks EX;
I get the LLB catalogue and I’ll check out the women’s pages on the next catalogue. I have their Seersucker short sleeve shirts that I have been wearing over a 30 year period plus their shorts and pants. I actually have a woolen shirt jac and shirt that was actually made in the USA. I left one back in Long Beach and took the other two to Florida which comes in handy when we get the cold spells. The LLB down comforter also stayed back along with a pair of rubber sole leather top boots and wool red/black checkered jacket.

Ex-PH2

I have waterproof/insulated snowshoe boots, which are also good for shoveling snow in a blizzard, along with my sturdy pink/black ski jacket, which has a pocket for my phone, in case of a shovel emergency.
Also good to wear all that in beastly howling winds on a walk from my house to Wallyworld to get some exercise. I have yet to find anyone around here interested in snowshoeing, but there’s always that chance it might happen.

I have nothing from LLB, can’t afford it. Mine comes from Sam Walton.
