More Missing Identified

| August 3, 2019

Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) forensic anthropologist Jennie Jin, bottom right, secures one of the 55 cases of remains of service members turned over by the North Korean military as government officials observe on July 27, 2018. (Sgt. 1st Class David J. Marshall/Army)

There is identification of more remains from the Korean War, in regard to the 55 sets of remains handed over to the US last year.  Hondo will very likely announce it as soon as he gets the information from DPAA.

From the article: Defense Department officials have identified 25 more missing servicemembers from the cases of remains turned over by North Korean officials last year, a major advance for dozens of families who have waited decades for closure in the deaths of their loved ones.

The identifications were first announced by Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday afternoon and later confirmed by officials at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency during their annual briefing to families of the Korean War, held in Washington D.C.

On Friday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called the news “A promise kept from the agreement between (North Korean) Chairman Kim (Jong Un) and President Donald Trump … to return all of our fallen heroes.” – article

This accounts for 32 of the missing, leaving 17 sets of remains to be ID’d by DPAA.

More than 5,000 troops were declared MIA/assumed dead at the end of the Korean War. The diplomatic efforts to retrieve all of the missing are still ongoing, but the North can be quite stubborn, as we are all aware, per this article:  https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2019/05/08/work-to-recover-fallen-troops-in-north-korea-halted-amid-diplomatic-impasse/

Perhaps someone should put a bug in ND:tBF’s ear that he’d get more out of Pres. Trump if he restarted and bumped up the continued recovery of US remains, instead of shooting off missiles to scare his neighbors.

As it is: May the road rise to meet those returned and the wind be always at their back, the moon and stars bright at night, and the field and forests full of good hunting.
