Alabama Police Officer Fake Shooting Labeled ‘Stolen Valor’

| August 3, 2019

Several media outlets, including the FoxNews website are reporting that an Alabama police officer is accused of staging a shooting and making a fake distress call last month in what his police chief called a case of “stolen valor” and “stolen honor.”

Birmingham Alabama Police Officer Keith Buchanan allegedly made a fake distress call while on patrol last month.

Dispatchers were unable to reach him for close to 30 minutes. A Tarrant officer found Buchanan’s patrol vehicle with bullet holes but couldn’t find him.

He was ultimately located uninjured a short distance away near railroad tracks.

Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith said Thursday that an investigation couldn’t corroborate Buchanan’s story of events. He was relieved of his duties last week.

“This officer did a lot on that night to present a false image of heroism,” Smith told reporters during a news conference. “He endangered the lives of the community by discharging his firearm, and also other officers, as they responded from all over the city to be at his side and do everything that they can to help.”

Smith said Buchanan’s actions only helped to tear down the trust built by the police department and the community. He called it a case of “stolen valor” and “stolen honor,” a reference to those who lie about heroic acts to reap profit or gain accolades.

Several Tarrant Police officers rushed to the scene. They found the car and Buchanan on the ground, “appearing to be unconscious and holding his gun and moaning from his injuries.”

It was later reported that at a hospital, the officer was found to have “no significant injuries,” according to WVTM.

Investigators scoured the scene for evidence about who fired the shots, collecting video and witness statements. They said that all evidence led back to Buchanan.

Just took a nasty explosive diarrhea shit all over his career, his life and his entire future…
I wonder if McDonald’s will be needing a rent a cop without any firearm or perhaps a french fryer cleaner…
He’s not going to be doing anything that he had hoped to do, that much is certain.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes…

What in the Ho lee phuk trailer park hell was going on his mind? I bet of all the things this dumba$$ has lost, he misses his mind most of all. We all know what he’s gonna lose when Bubba and the Boys get their turn. If he’s real lucky he may be able to hire on as security for Brucie’s Bath House (Entrance in the rear)

I suspect he is genuinely sick, as in “needs pro help”.

I had an acquaintance who was severely bipolar. He could be pretty reasonable most of the time. He had a good job. But he occasionally had these absolutely bizarre up/down periods that were nuts.

And he said he liked it that way.

I had no answer. He eventually went elsewhere, abruptly, during an “up”, leaving wreckage in his wake.

What a dick move. If a LEO calls for help every cop in radio range is going to drop whatever they were doing and race to the location. Of course he knew this, and endangered both cops and civilians anyway.

It appears from the story that Mr. Buchanan is not the one that called for help. When he couldn’t be reached for over 30 minutes, they sent someone to find him, by tracking his car. When they rolled up and found the car shot up, the call went out. They located him, and he had no explanation.
Curious if they did a “tox” screen on him? Was he in a known drug dealing area? He was either Bi-polar as 11Bmailclerk suggested or on one hell of a high. Either way he needs some professional help, not work at Brucie’s Bath House (entrance in the rear).

“Buchanan faced discipline issues in 2016, 2015 and 2014, for filing a false report and keeping a stolen gun from a theft suspect for four months without notifying a supervisor, according to the news outlet.”

WTF was this guy still on the job for? He should have been fired hard for that!

…That kinda leads me to suspect that something else was coming down the pike that would have 86’d him once and for all. So he decides that since a fake attack worked so well for that Smollett dude, it’ll work for him.

And you can bet that there’s a bunch of lawyers out there – whose clients former Officer Buchanan’s testimony helped put away – who are now getting ready to challenge said convictions.

Police are as human as the rest of us. This also means a few are broken.

Garbage, piece of shit, cocksucking, scumbag wearing the blue uniform! It’s already bad enough that law enforcement has to deal with non-sense from the outside. The last thing they need is a camouflaged infiltrator from the inside doing damage!

If you want to stage a fake attack against yourself, go all in, like this prosecutes did a few decades ago.

Did he actually use his own firearm to shoot his cruiser?

That’s the kind of stupid you find in Ilhan and her cohorts.

Ah well, I am sure that the police union will be able to exonerate him, have him reinstated and even promoted because of all the racist hateful hatey haters who denied his troofulnis.

rgr769

Yes, like they couldn’t forensically match the bullets recovered from his cruiser to any weapon he possessed.

Les might need a bodyguard…

I remember a NC highway patrol officer that took off his bullet proof vest, shot it 3 times, put it back on and claimed he was shot by a motorist. Uh, no welts, no bruises under that vest?? Ok Dudley Do-wrong, we’ll be needing your gun, badge, etc

We had something like this happen in the DPSRM. Young guy just got on the force in one of the smaller towns and did something like this. He ended up killing himself.

The Alabama Cop sounds, as someone said, probably looking at an investigation for something else and figures, what have I got to lose.
