Police: 17-year-old suspect shot dead during attempted North Nashville restaurant robbery
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police say a 17-year-old who tried to rob a North Nashville restaurant Thursday night has died after he was shot by an employee during the crime.
Officers responded to Knockout Wings on Jefferson Street around 9:30 p.m. for a reported robbery and shooting.
Metro Police say Jaylin Cummins was dressed in all black and his face was covered when he walked into Knock Out Wings on Jefferson Street.
According to investigators, he demanded cash at gunpoint.
Five employees were inside the restaurant. As one of the female employees dealt with Cummins, one of her co-workers saw an opportunity to retrieve a pistol being carried by another male employee, who had his hands up.
Cummins was shot and fled the restaurant without any money. He got into a waiting white car.
He was then driven more than 10 miles away to Terrace Park Apartments, where he was dropped at his girlfriend’s front door. Cummins did not survive.

“Jaylin Cummins”…
Claw is gonna have a ball with that.
Unable to find a middle name on this latest hard working enterprising urban entrepreneur apprentice, so the Whiz Wheel®™ spins with what’s available:
Jaylin Cummins (DOT) 29 x 3 = 87
“urban entrepreneur apprentice”.
Sorry for the pause. Had to lift my sorry ass off the floor, 2° a violent laughing spasm.
Someone saw “three men in a black Buick…”
They still make Buicks? Wow.
Biggest GM seller in China, hence its retention while olds and Pontiac went away.
Seeing an example of the works of the Saintly John Moses Browning (Howitzer be his name) FIRST thing this morning is proof that AW1Ed loves us and wants us to be happy.
“…found dead…twice in the chest.” Yeah, that’ll usually do it.
“…K-9 unit helped track…” Yep, puppy just followed the Lester “Brown Stain” that the perps left.
Jaylin (sigh) Cummins, well not any more. And he WAS such a good boy. He just wanted to get some wings for the after choir practice social.
Bad guys got so scared at the man with a gun they ran their car into a building. A building. City boys never saw a building before?
Bernard “bullets in” Bullins is no more.
These two sentences make me think (yeah, yeah, dangerous) that there’s one in the wind in Nashville: “Cummins was shot and fled the restaurant without any money. He got into a waiting white car.” Unless of course, they could (or should) have written, “He drove off in a white car,” got into a “waiting car” makes me think someone was in the car waiting for the young gunsel to emerge with ill-gotten gains. Now, since the girlfriend says she saw a white car drive off, it would appear that Cummins didn’t drive himself ten miles to her apartment.
Much as it may scandalize my fellow 1911 aficionados, there -is- a place for the little pocket-sized mouseguns.
In one’s pocket.
I can’t get away with a full sized sidearm in a number of contexts. But no one notices a littlegun, properly carried.
A handkerchief folded up and placed in the pocket prevents printing and provides a neutral answer to “what’s he gots in his poketses?”
