Customer shoots man suspected of trying to rob convenience store, Lincoln police say
A 22-year-old Lincoln man went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm early Thursday after he was shot by a customer while allegedly trying to rob a convenience store at 56th and Holdrege streets.
Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister said a 38-year-old woman with a concealed carry permit shot the man, who hasn’t yet been arrested or identified, in the incident at 1:41 a.m.
Bliemeister said there’s nothing at this time to suggest the man had a weapon, although there had been an altercation between him and a 46-year-old female Kwik Shop employee.

Doorbell camera captures tense moment when armed homeowner confronts prowler
Deni Kamper
PROSPECT, Ky. — A homeowner in Prospect used a gun to scare off a man attempting to break into houses in the Moser Farms neighborhood Monday night.Brett King was getting into bed around 11 p.m. when he received an alert on his phone from a motion-sensing camera on the side of his house. The camera captured a man, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, trying the handle of King’s side door.
“Alert pops up, clicked on it, and there’s a man walking down my driveway,” King said.
King said he got up immediately, grabbed his pistol and went out to his driveway. He said he saw the man running toward his neighbor’s open garage.
“I yelled at him. He turned around, saw me, and he was in a hoodie, covered up anyway. He ducks his head and starts heading towards his car. So, I start approaching the car and yelling at him to stop,” King said.
King said he brandished the gun and the man got into a running car that was parked on the street and sped off. King said he believes the firearm is what scared the suspect off.

None in the bag today, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. Two are inconvenienced and one in the wind. Next house for Mrs AW1Ed and myself will have motion detectors and cameras. Now they would just false alert on the small deer herd that lives here, too.
Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Nations and peoples who forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms. — Robert Heinlein

“Starship Troopers” quote. Love it (the book, hate the movie).
As I’ve said before, in the opening credits, the line should have read:
“Based very, very, very, VERY loosely on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein.”
Would it have been wrong of the Prospect Ky homeowner to put several rounds into the engine block of the getaway car?
It’s almost like the old Wild, Wild West has returned, isn’t it? Rob a bank, rob someone at a bank, rob a store…. What’s next? Hold up commuter buses and rob the riders? Go through a commuter rail car and rob the passengers?
Oh, wait – that already happens, depending on what state you’re living in. Some gal had her tablet ripped right out of her hands by some guy exiting at an El stop in Chicago.
The obvious question is why can’t she put that thing away until she gets home???
The stupid is strong with most people nowadays. They must think it’s a safe, safe world when it ain’t.
Ex-PH2 in answer to your question of why can’t she put that thing away until she gets home??? is most likely she is trying to take advantage of the long ride, which she does not have to participate (aka drive/pay attention). What was she doing? Homework? Work, Paying bills? entertainment?
So you are saying we must now refrain from our life of leisure in public because some brigand wants to accost us? What is next, no watching movies on airplanes because we must be ever vigilant for the plane to fall apart, or jihadist trying to destroy it?
Must we now lock our doors because it is unsafe to welcome our neighbors to our abode?
Odd you should ask that,Ranger, because while I was working, I took the bus every day to and from work, and there was always someone trying steal from the passengers, despite the fact that they were always caught. The Chicago PD started putting cops on buses, it was so bad. That toned it down. Now, no more cops on buses or trains, so it’s started up again, and if you aren’t paying attention to your surroundings, you’re a target.
Guess we can feel good reading that the reporters are finally getting to know the difference between alleged suspect and potential victim. They’ve had issues with that in some stories.
Scrolling thru the Lincoln paper they had a boatload of mug shots from busts over the last few days. Looks like someone flew over and dropped off a large load of scum. As Ex pointed out, it’s everywhere now. Be Aware, Be Very Aware.
The Shield is a very nice pistol. I use one as my EDC gun. Highly recommend.
I second that motion. I very much like the grip angle but may need to add some tape to fatten it up a little to better fit my hand.
Thompson Center Contender in 45/70 with 16″ barrel. Seldom ever have to pull it out. Just the sight of it strapped across your chest will frighten most people away.
I’m impressed chooee lee. Nothing like toting a visible hand cannon. Shows that you have no time for half measures.
Episode of Gunsmoke yesterday had one of the bad guys using a Walker Colt Model 36. That cotton picking involuntary vascular reaction reared up again.
After I retired from Brink’s, (2007)They went to the S&W M&P .40 from the S&W 4046 .40 which we were issued back in 2001. Before 2001, we went to S&W Mod 10, 4 in Barrel .38. When I started in 1970, Colt Police positives in .38 with 4 in. pencil barrels were in use also until the AD in Grand Central Station.
