July 4th in WDC

Sikorsky in flight

While critics were crumbling about dollars “wasted on public displays” (meaning money they couldn’t rip off for pet projects like buying votes), Pres. Trump was at the Lincoln Memorial yesterday, speaking to an apparently enthusiastic crowd while the Coasties, Chair Force, NavAir, Jarheads and Ground Pounders (Army, you sillies) were flying aviation vehicles over the heads of an appreciative audience.

The videos embedded in the MT article are short, and the Blue Angels came in at the end. Nice touch and the roar of those engines is deeply appreciated by me.

Blue Angels make big thunder! I used to anchor my boat in the Severn to watch the USNA graduation events and the fly-bys. Totally impressive.

AW1Ed

I thought the Air Force’s display of a pair of F-22s on the wings of a B-2 stole the show- that is, until the President mentioned the Blue Angles. No one is going to up stage the Blues; their patent Starburst display iced the cake.

Mason

Gotta agree with you. Just watching the videos, it was an impressive display. Though like Club Manager says below, they need some red and blue smoke too.

The Other Whitey

America! Fuck yeah!

streetsweeper

The B/A’s are show offs…

Just in case any of you were wondering where the Army’s stuff came from, the two Bradleys, the two Abrams and the Hummer all came up from the 3rd ID at Stewart and the four Apaches all came from the 101st at Campbell.

And to all those whining about the cost of seeing our training dollars in action, here’s a big GFY just for you./s

Ret_25X

Participating in events like this is training. Whether driving an M2A2 or flying an F22, it is still an opportunity to log hours and hone skills.

Training is never a waste of money.

Events like this also allow the mostly unconnected public to see that their military is part of the nation and not some faceless clone army built in a vat.

A true win/win IMO

AW1Ed

Showing the flag is a worthwhile endeavor as well. I can’t tell you how many Navy fliers- Pilots, NFOs and Aircrew, would say they got the yen to fly from an airshow.

I suspect this is so with the other branches as well.

Thunderstixx

If for nothing else, to piss off every liberal in America and the World itself !!!
And to tell Nike to GFI…..

Eden

I grew up near where the Blue Angels used to do a lot of their training (maybe they still do). It was always fun driving down the freeway and seeing them do their thing.

Club Manager, USA ret.

Was that when they were flying hellcats at Floyd Bennet NAS in Brooklyn? At least that was what we watched landing from the Belt Parkway when I was a kid. Wished the Blue Angles used red white and blue smoke like the French team does at Bastille Day.

Club Manager;
When my family visited our relatives on Eastern Pkwy across from the library, we traveled the belt Pkwy from Queens and there were quonset huts along the way that the AA Batteries were stationed at during the war. I remember the jets at Floyd Bennet back in the 1950’S flying over the field. Better views were from Flatbush Ave going towards the Marine Pkwy Bridge into the Rockaways.

We had occasion to be on Camp Robinson, Arkansas ANG HQ in North Little Rock the other day. From the main gate across every major point on the installation were early armor and track vehicles on display. Quite an impressive history and lots of stuff I had not seen before. It occurred to me everyone of these vehicles should have been on display outside the White House for the 4th. Let America see how far the United States has progressed.

The most incredible military performance I’ve seen live is the US Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon at 8th & I (Marine Barracks) in Washington DC during a summer Evening Parade in the mid-90s. The Platoon performed yesterday in the July 4th celebration and brought a lot of memories back. Amazing discipline and precision – always gives me goose bumps.

Mason

I just so love watching the liberal heads explode that we have a celebration of the country and its military on the 4th.

If they keep up this at next year’s display, they might as well let Trump run uncontested.

sj

And the President spoke for an hour without mentioning himself. Unlike The Messiah before him.

UpNorth

We watched the speech. My wife asked me how many times I thought Obama would have started a sentence with “I” and “me”. I ventured a guess of about 360 times in a 60 minute speech.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

How come the libertards heads didn’t explode when Ike and JFK had the Military parade and he was an NRA member to boot.

Sapper3307

The stealth Blackhawks were nice.
sark

Jay

As a Marine, I appreciated the new Marine One and Ospreys…but MAN, I would’ve loved to see some Harriers scream overhead. Just like I would’ve loved to see some Warthogs come thundering low when he announced the Air Force…..

Jay

The “USA! USA!” when the F22s/Stealth Bomber” went overhead gave my whole household goosebumps

Commissar

One if by land, two if by sea, three if by air… the continental army did everything it had to do, including manning the air and seizing the airports.

Very inspiring.

Not to mention the whole time travel part to defend fort McHenry.

BlueCord Dad

How about ya drink a great big glass of GFY. And don’t bother runnin’ me down, ‘cause I don’t GAF what you think…

SFC D

Sarcasm really isn’t one of your talents. Both transmission and reception.

FatCircles0311

Always the insufferable cunt. Stay classy Samantha B.

Commissioner Wretched

Sure, Lars. Be like the other Left-Wingnut Media, and fixate on a couple of spoken gaffes in an otherwise outstanding speech.
You really are an idiot, aren’t you?

rgr769

That gaff may have been put in the teleprompter text by another commie-cunt like you, Lars, you raving prog prick.

11B-Mailclerk

How sad. He had nothing better to do, nothing better to say, than a delayed regurgitation of someone else’s talking points.

GDContractor

Lars, your comment made it all worth it. I was hoping this stunt by Trump would make liberal heads explode. Thanks for the confirmation.

Commie-Tsar

My FLACCID PENIS OF TRUTH tells me that:

ORANGE MAN BAD!!!
ORANGE MAN BAD!!!
ORANGE MAN BAD!!!

Now leave me alone so I can enjoy my soi boi latte and the Hammer and Sickle CO-OP!

OldManchu

It’s so obvious. I saw the article post at zero comments but I was busy working and couldn’t comment. I literally thought “lars will have some bullshit to say”…..

And here you are. Wishing you were a trainee on patrol as an E-1 under an occupying UN force on the streets of America.

USMCMSgt (Ret)

A good number of D.C. residents will call for reimbursement for the PTSD they caught from all the military activity yesterday…

…being as the sound of helicopters flying around is like a “war zone” to many of them.

Here’s to hoping all of you had a great 4th of July!

(To add: If any of you should be in the DC area during the summer and would like to see the Silent Drill Platoon perform at the Friday evening parade at 8th and “Eye”, drop me a line early on and I’ll get you tickets.)

FatCircles0311

It was awesome. Everything was awesome.

5th/77th FA

I had a massive involuntary vascular reaction just from the videos. Good thing I wasn’t there in person.

My apologies to all of the TAH Lionesses in attendance to this comment.

FREEDOM BONER!!!!

So there i was, back in the day, for Armed Forces day, ’92 or ’93, i was stationed at APG, MD at the Ordnance School. A tasking came down to provide an M1 and M2 to take to a MEPS in NYC. I think it was in the Bronks?
Anyway we picked the best looking, and running, ones and had them trailered to the Port of Baltimore. Then put aboard a Reserve unit LCU and sailed up the coast. We off loaded the vehicles on a beach in Staten Island, then convoyed across the lower span of the Verrazano-Narrows bridge.
Normally the M1 travels with the gun tube across the back deck. Not that day, i was TCing the M1 and had the tube over the front slope.
It was an interesting weekend to say the least. We made the front page of a local Staten Island newspaper. I had a copy but where it is is anyone’s guess.
Oh, and we were a bunch of mechanics that caught that mission.

AW1Ed

Airshows are cool to attend. Being IN the airshow rocks*grin*

Liberals are gonna bawl, bitch, screech and whine no matter what, SCREW ‘EM!!!

No one seemed to have a problem with the cost(s) of all the “Pride Parades” all over the country.

Apples and oranges? Awaiting incoming, over;

I wish to officially declare July as HETERO PRIDE MONTH, who’s with me?

5th/77th FA

“….July thru June….” FIFY!!

SECOND!

OldManchu

I’m a proud HETERO! I’m in.

3/10/MED/b

I did see/ hear less of the “Combat Veteran with PTSD lives here. Please be respectful with fireworks this holiday season.”, but still heard enough. Move for the holiday. Get a Motel 6. Money issue? Get a tent and go off-grid. If money is not an issue, drop some cash and get a upscale spot in your local downtown Hilton/Marriot/OMNI/Whatever.
I am not doubting the existence of PTSD, (even if you saw a cat get hit by a bicycle when you were 9…)
If you know there will be a problem, unass the AO.

Note: NOT mocking/ criticizing/ lightening the issue of PTSD.

A Proud Infidel®™️

If I were to see a sign like that in someone’s yard I would automatically assume they were a clerk or a cook!

Steve1371

I second this.
