Oh, Here We Go….

| May 20, 2019

There seems to be no end to this debate.

“Our drill instructors stay with their recruits 24 hours a day, seven days a week the entire time they are there,” Neller told reporters at a televised Pentagon briefing on Wednesday. “So I am not considering having men and women live together in an open squad bay.”

Parris Island, South Carolina, is the only partially gender integrated recruit training depot in the Marine Corps. Female Marines do not attend boot camp at the Corps’ other recruit depot located in San Diego.

“Army, Navy and Air Force managed to integrate boot camp without violating the statute,”said ret. Navy Capt. Lory Manning, director of government operations at the Service Women’s Action Network. “Why can’t the Marine Corps do the same? Drill instructors may be present 24-7, but they are not housed in the recruit barracks, so their continual presence is not a violation of the statute he mentions.” — Article

That’s the meat of the argument: not whether or not male and female recruits should train together, but whether or not they should share the same living space. Manning’s argument dismisses the real issue, which is that horny teens/young adults away from home full-time in any environment are going to misbehave. Or was nothing learned from the co-ed college dorms issues in the 1970s, and the nonsense ongoing later on at the military academies by the few who gave the rest a bad name? If it isn’t normal for close quarters like pigboats to drive a few sailors to take nekkid photos of their female shipmates in the shower, then why are the rape list compilers on the Florida not being punished?  https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2019/05/19/male-sailors-created-rape-lists-of-female-shipmates-on-georgia-based-submarine/

Let me explain hormones and physiological chemistry to Ms. Manning: when you are in an intense atmosphere, whether it is boot training, or a pig boat at depth, or in the shoot-shoot-bang-bang arena, your hormone levels rise, adrenaline flows like water, and all the Powder Paint Presentations designed to guarantee a sleeping audience will be a waste of time and energy. This is true in warfare and in training, and likewise true in any circumstance where someone feels or is threatened but survives.  As I learned in a bioscience class a long time before Ms. Manning was even a twinkle in her daddy’s eye, reproduction is the Number One survival drive. If that is satisfied, thirst is next/2nd. If that’s satisfied, hunger is Number Three.

Once you understand that basic biology lesson, you can tell me why you think it’s a good idea to cram kids together into an environment that affords nearly no privacy and has very little room for modesty at all.  You can also explain to me and to a former USAF officer now in Congress, why reporting assault when you’re on active duty will make you look like the bad guy. Or must we go over that Tailhook-drunken jet jockeys stuff again?

You wouldn’t believe the camera systems in place in AIT and NCOA Barracks. Trainees and students are literally on camera everywhere but the latrine and their sleeping quarters. Why, you may ask? It’s required under the Army’s SHARP regulation. Why is it required? Because when young men and women are kept in close quarters, nature always finds a way. CAPT Manning apparently got a college degree somewhere without ever taking a biology course. I’m thinking she lives alone in a sad little house.

      With cats, LOTS of Cats!

    • Fareed says:

Amen – Bringing back the Draft would end this silly paperless DoD social experiment. SHARP has killed (or incarcerated) more SM’s behind the scenes than GWOT has in more than a decade.

“Why can’t the Marine Corps do the same? Drill instructors may be present 24-7, but they are not housed in the recruit barracks, so their continual presence is not a violation of the statute he mentions.”

But contrare mi little SJW snowflake, Marine Duty DI’s do sleep in the Duty hut in the Squadbays.

  3. Lthrnck1775 says:

If I recall, the USMC is the ONLY service without the associated problems of m/f integrated training…. such as all the sexual harassment / rape / fraternization problems the Army training battalions have seen.

If it aint broke, don’t fix it. The real problems are in the field – reason #27 NOT to have women in Combat Arms – either.

  4. Lthrnck1775 says:

PS: No one will treat WM recruits as hard as a WM D.I. – as they should.

  5. Gone are the days when we had a fart sack on top of the A/C water chiller tanks in the A/C chiller space and had a load of playboy and other girlie magazines abounding which we could read while taking a nooner during chow call. Now they have Females on board to replace the girlie magazines as a TAH commentor mentioned when I did the same above comment last year. So could be as the song “To the Aisle” Five satins on Ember, 57, let nature take it’s course.

  6. NHSparky says:

then why are the rape list compilers on the Florida not being punished

They are. Two kicked out, at least another half dozen taken to mast, and the CO booted.

And that after NCIS DIDN’T find any “rape list” on the ship’s servers. What everyone (rightly) got in trouble for was a rating system of the women on the boat. Bad enough, but not a rape list.

  7. JacktheJarhead says:

Yeah, let’s put a bunch of horny teenagers together and tell them to be good!! Yeah, that’s going to work! I don’t see an issue with the way the training is done now and forever. If the SJWs want Co-Ed living arrangements and training, they should be the first to try them out. Let us know how that goes.

  8. rgr769 says:

Let’s make a bunch of SJW’s do a cruise on smallish ship that is 50-50 males to females with no available birth control and see how many females are pregnant after a couple of months.

  9. ChipNASA says:

    Parris Island, South North Carolina?

  10. 5th/77th FA says:

You can have all the cameras and supervision in the world, but where there is a will, there is a way.

Better have an equal number of males and females in your trainee ranks or there’s gonna be trouble.

  11. Jus Bill says:

“…said ret. Navy Capt. Lory Manning, director of government operations at the Service Women’s Action Network.” Sounds like Former Capt. Lory found a nice SJW scam to supplement her retirement. And I’m sure Service Women don’t need to Network to find Action, Lory.

    BTW, Hillary lost; Trump won…

  12. USMC Steve says:

She knows not what she speaks of. One glaring error she made is that DI’s ARE billeted with the boots. At least one every day, Sometimes two in the first phase of training, (unless that has changed now) on a rotating basis, in case something happens and to ensure everyone gets up on time and such.

    • radar says:

Dunno how it works today, but in 2001 on Parris Island it was one DI sleeping in the DI house. They’d rotate every few days. I should know, I was cursed to be the house mouse.

  13. H1 says:

FLW went back to the integrated plts in the late 80’s.
    On some levels it works.
But, on SOOOO many others, not.
Basic should be by gender so everyone can focus on, Basic.
AIT should be the first introduction.
    Under supervision..

  14. JURRASICHM says:

Service Women’s Action Network (SWAN). Bet their mascot is an ugly duckling.

  15. Sapper3307 says:

Cant they just put that Saltpeter in the eggs again?

  16. OWB says:

What a complete crock of poo-poo. As if there is never a bashful recruit reporting to basic training, of either gender. Bad enough to get nekkid in front of a bunch of your own gender without worrying about the other one as well.

Naïve? Not really. Good order should not require that modesty be forgotten. Is this really what the feminists had in mind? Seriously??

  17. Eden says:

Speaking as a veteran of that vaunted integrated military training that CAPT Manning wants so badly, I agree with General Neller.

  18. rgr769 says:

Maybe the motivation for this nonsense is just so the bull dyke lesbians can feel more manly and feel like they are one of the guys.

  19. Slow Joe says:

Isn’t that the name of the most hated character in The Walking Dead?

Wow. I guess there is something to name-character association.

  20. Eric Kerns says:

If you look at futuristic space movies you will see male and female using same showers together leaving to believe they train together as well. Popular movies like Alien, Battlestar Galactica, Starship Troopers and so on. When we actually start going to space this will be a must. We have to start somewhere. Integrated training will be a must for the future and I know it’s not popular because of the stigma’s associated with the obvious problems with hormones and such but it’s best we workout the kinks now while on ground before we’re strapped in a tin can flying thru space. THIS WILL BE OUR FUTURE!!!! Get use to it.
