DeSoto County man shoots neighbor in self-defense, sheriff’s office says
DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. — A DeSoto County man shot and killed his neighbor Monday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators said James Leon Newman, 69, shot his neighbor Lucian “Butch” Angelo, 78, around 3 p.m. after an argument turned into a physical altercation at a home in the 8700 block of Tulane Road.
Angelo was taken by Hospital Wing to the trauma center at Regional One in Memphis, where he later died.
Authorities said an investigation has indicated the shooting was in self-defense. After consultation with the district attorney, the case will be referred to the grand jury for review.

OWASSO, Okla. (KTUL) — It’s a quiet Owasso neighborhood, a place where children draw on the sidewalks and forgotten sports’ balls litter front yards, but there’s something much darker also present — the remnants of a shooting.“The neighborhood hasn’t seen things like this,” said neighbor Beth Hixson.
Hixson has lived on this block for 18 years. The most activity she’s seen is the occasional medical call. She’s still asking questions about what happened across the street.
“All of a sudden, we heard the sirens, more than one, and my husband came out to the front window,” said Hixson. “I called my other neighbors to see what was going on.”
It was around 11:30 Monday night when the flashing lights and the caution tape went up. Owasso police say 30-year-old Zachary Sparkman, a so-called intruder to a home near North 129th East Avenue and 76th Street North, was shot and killed.

Good Samaritan holds suspect in fatal shooting of mother of four at gunpoint until police arrive

Alpharetta, GA (CBS46) Police say a Good Samaritan was able to hold a suspect, accused of fatally shooting a woman, at gunpoint until officers arrived on the scene.The incident happened in the parking lot of a Wells Fargo Bank on Main Street in Alpharetta.
The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety posted details of the incident to their departmental Facebook page.
According to the post, the department received a 911 call about shots fired at the bank at around 11:40 a.m.
When officers arrived on scene, they found 45 year-old Tynesha Evans suffering from gunshot wounds.
The Facebook post says an armed witness who was driving by the bank and heard the shot, got out of his vehicle, confronted the suspect and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Troubled relative, so called intruder, looks like the reporter is venturing into the dime detective novel business, at least the 18 yo eliminated a 30 year problem. Don’t think is a question of range time as to results, more like one of those holy crap moments when one finds that the hole of the gun that is pointed at you is lots bigger than the hole in the end of your gun, lay down and release weapon, probably wouldn’t been a justifiable DRT under the circumstances. Ok time to get ready for window pickup, am sure instructions are forth coming.

Former Marine gets 10 years for pipe bombing his neighbor’s car after a parking spot dispute. Judge said he would have given him 20 if not for his wartime service. This despite the turd getting busted in a narcotics raid on his house after being released on these charges for illegally manufacturing firearms and silencers in his house.
Da fuq? 10 years for trying to murder your neighbor (and God knows who else in the process)? Apparently having PTSD is an excuse while at the same time they say it’s not an excuse.
The Oklahoma story: “something darker present.” Vampires? Werewolves? Stock up on wooden stakes and silver bullets. The “so-called” intruders seem to be taken care of.
Yeah it sounds like the author is getting their projects mixed up between supposed journalism articles and detective suspense novels.

Not to belabor the “ugly gun” photos but there is an article on the first Mossberg gun in American Rifleman magazine (just arrived).
It is a four barrel .22LR break action pistol
called the Brownie. It is uglyeeeeee.
Pretty lever gun for todays post but kinda short for a scope.
And the guy that gets ten years credit for being a vet should refuse the reduction and serve his full sentence. Why bring your service into it? You drag the rest of us down with that sort of thing. Beg for mercy if you must but leave your brothers out of it.
That’s a Scout rifle treatment, with a long eye relief scope mounted forward. And a short stiff barrel is generally more accurate than a long whippy barrel. Lose some velocity but with handloads, not that much.
Those take down guns can be had in a modernized belted-magnum version of 45-70. They also chamber the standard rounds.
Those are serious Grizz guns.
26L; Read the Rifleman article on Mossbergs first semi auto pistol and I read the article that the Colt 1903 .32 pistol is finally coming out after a couple of years of waiting and are going to be made in a limited amount. I see those 1903’s at the gun shows and was always interested in buying one but never did. These are the ones you see on the old thin Man, Saint Etc black and white flicks on TCM. Ladies always seemed to have one of those Colt .25 pocket guns.
Best part of NRA membership is American Rifleman magazine. Lots of articles on military small arms history. They focus on the arms, not the politics. The politics are addressed outside of the articles, in monthly columns.
But, you already know that.
The Colt 1903 new iteration is the subject of an article in the current issue of the “American Rifleman.” It is a bit pricey at an MSRP of $1275, considering it only has a parkerized finish, which is much cheaper to apply than a polished, blued finish. It is also marked “U.S. Property” in a homage to its issue to General officers in the Army.

I think the article had it down that you could get a blued version. Seen the 1903 oldies at the gun shows like I mentioned above but never bought one. Got a Colt .25 pocket gun that My friends daughter gave me after his passing. Gun was from a perp he took it from when he was a Detective in NY. His service gun went to his ex partner.
That is the Mossberg Alaskan “guide” gun lever action in the take-down configuration. 45-70 is one of the available calibers.
