smollett indicted

Jussie Smollett of hoax white racist attack fame has some new legal problems to face. He has been indicted on Friday by a Chicago grand jury; 16 counts of felony disorderly conduct in connection with filing a false report about an alleged hate crime against himself. Read on:

By: Joshua Caplan
Empire actor Jussie Smollett on Friday was indicted by a grand jury in Chicago on 16 counts of felony disorderly conduct in connection to an alleged hate crime staged against himself.

Last month, Smollett was charged with felony disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report with police on January 29th, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

Smollett, who is African-American and plays a gay character on Empire, told police that he was assaulted while walking home from a downtown Subway sandwich shop. The actor claimed two masked individuals beat him, hurled racist and homophobic slurs, and doused him with an unknown chemical substance. Further, he alleged his assailants looped a thin rope around his neck and shouted “This is MAGA country” before fleeing the scene.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, Smollett’s legal team has vigorously defended their client against the media and the police, accusing officials of mishandling his case. In an eyebrow-raising statement, Smollett’s attorney called the actor “a man of impeccable character and integrity who fiercely and solemnly maintains his innocence.”
Let’s all squeeze out a tear for poor Jussie, and read the article in its entirety here: Breitbart
16! Hot damn.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
FatCircles0311
That’s almost Bradley Manning territory. He’s the voice of a generation! 😂
11B-Mailclerk
Manning is the voice of a DEgeneration.
26Limabeans
Free Jussie! I can hear it now.
Ex-PH2
16 felony counts against this arrogant little twit.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving little weasel.
5th/77th FA
“a man of impeccable character and integrity who fiercely and solemnly maintains his innocence.” What a f’ing tool. No mention in the article about the potential Federal USPS charges.
Still say he’ll ultimately skate with very little punishment on the state charges. You are right ‘beans…Free Jussie/go fund me in 5,4,3.2…
11B-Mailclerk
His character is “pecced”, I believe.
Elizabeth Conboy
……but weren’t him just on his way to choir practice? He such a good boy.
Garold
These fake “hate” crimes have gotten out of hand and finally someone will pay the price: A high profile someone to set the example.
Mr. Pete
Yes. Agreed
Just An Old Dog
Faking a “Hate Crime” is in my opinion ,, a “Hate Crime”.
If the cops had picked up two completely innocent white guys that night and locked them up do you think that Son Of a Bitch would have stepped in and said they weren’t the ones?
MSG Eric
I’m surprised the Chicago PD didn’t put some police officers in a line-up to see if he would identify them or not.
They should’ve, just to make him look even more like a scumbag.
HMC Ret
“These fake “hate” crimes have gotten out of hand …”
Damn straight. I’m tired of this woe is me bullshit and when called on it, the immediate display of the race card, queer card, whatever card. He’ll reach a plea agreement to avoid a trial. He might think he still has a future as a queer character on TV. About all I see in his future is a paper hat and a Burger King uniform.
Ya done fucked up, homes. Deal with it you rassist twit. Start limbering up … it will come in handy in prison.
OWB
Drama queen.
AngryB
Excellent!
A Proud Infidel®™️
The little shit cried “Wolf” and now he gets to face the consequences, I hope that they throw the book at him, but with it happening in Chicago I sadly bet they’ll handle it with kid gloves.
Ex-PH2
The 16 felony counts are at the Federal level, not the state. He sent fake threat mail through the US Mail. Fed in Chicago supercedes state.
A Proud Infidel®™️
I hear what you’re saying Ex-PH2, it’s just that right now I have no faith or trust in either one. I wonder if anything will come to him from the USPS?
Thunderstixx
They’ll use the #Trump Defense….
I had to, I was so afraid of Trump, I had to do it to expose the racism of the MAGA people !!!
Rock
The article was wrong, this indictment was by a Cook County Grand Jury.
A copy of the indictment is available here: https://dig.abclocal.go.com/wls/documents/2019/030819-wls-smollett-indictment-doc.pdf
The sixteen count indictment occurred in the Cook (aka Crook) County Circuit Court, not federal court. They are all violations of state law in connection with his false reports to Chicago PD. There have been no federal charges brought yet; although, they seem likely for the fake letter threat and will have to be brought in federal court by DOJ attorneys.
The Other Whitey
He orchestrated a fake assault, then tried to use it ruin to ruin the lives of two random passers-by for no particular reason other than being white and on the same street.
Then he had the audacity to cry about it on TV and call himself a victim.
This racist bastard can suck Satan’s dick in Hell.
Cameron Kingsley
He would probably enjoy it too.
Midnightguy
Even with Chicago the way it is I think they nailed this idiot but good.. His attorney’s will stop all the innocence boasting once they read the Federal Indictments. He’ll be crying for a deal before long. All this for some middle school level fake drama.
Just An Old Dog
Crystal Ball. The Cocksucker will pay a bullshit fine and do community service.
Hack Stone
You forget court ordered mental counseling.
MSG Eric
Oh and Drug Rehab. He already threw out the “been doing drugs” excuse.
Guard Bum
Yup, the douch will spend zero time in jail and will emerge “rehabilitated” and given a sanctuary in Hollywood.
HMC Ret
Maybe he can get a star on the Hollywood Walk. It will be of him sucking a dick while wearing a MAGA hat. That would be poetic justice.
Reddevil
We should all be sad that it came to this. Jessie seemed like a decent guy, but somehow in his mind his life wasn’t complete and he wasn’t a person unleas and until he was a victim.
The greatest damage he did was to his own cause, Society was the only victim here.
Thunderstixx
The thought process in this moron says nothing except to be a very indecent person, a smarmy whiny little POS that needed to have the spotlight on him all the time and wanted to be the reason that Trump was impeached !!!
That’s all it was, a stunt to help his political angle…
Oops…
Mason
He has a history of lying to the police going back more than a decade. He’s a shitbird.
Poetrooper
“Jessie seemed like a decent guy, but…”
The operative word there, Red, is “seemed” and it is one I’ll wager the LEO’s here at TAH will tell you they hear all the time:
“But, but, he seemed like such a nice boy…”
Formula for Hollywood when the wind shifts against you: 1) Enter an unheard of form of therapy – i.e. fantasy addiction, reality mis-identification, etc. where you claim that you get so lost in your tradecraft, it is difficult to distinguish real events from imagined 2) Paint yourself as a victim and the villain is the disease itself – i.e. sex addiction, reality mis-identification 3) Get your publicist to put out a statement that your only “crime” was not recognizing that you needed help 4) Light a few fires on Twitter to get a movement started – #FreeJussie, #FantasyAddictionIsARealThing 5) Blame it on Trump (this is a new tool in the tool chest) You get the idea – get a mass group of people behind you that feel as if having a job is for people that aren’t creative enough to get their money other ways. You know what I’m talking about. Where’ve they been all their lives? At an orgy, listening to Mick Jagger music and bad mouthing their country, I’ll bet. The folks that don’t have a whole lot to do. Heck, most of us didn’t even know “Empire” was a TV show until Jussie got it some free publicity. They owe him. Get fellow actors at “Empire” to fantasize that Jussie is some kind of POW held behind enemy lines. He may be a F#@KED UP KID, but he’s OUR F#@KED UP KID. Pump just enough air into it all to keep it all afloat until the next… Read more »
Let’s not forget the #blackliesdon’tmatter movement likely to be formed soon by the twitter twats.
Mason
What is this “fantasy addiction” you speak of and may I sign up for your newsletter about it?
Keepin' It Real
It’s a new thing that affects a very minute section of the population – actors.
Sometimes the dedication to the craft of acting is so intense they get lost in a character and never come back.
Its acceptance was largely ignored by mainstream society until driven by the last thing someone can cling to when the walls start to cave in.
Ex-PH2
I thought ‘fantasy addiction’ was getting lost and awash in stuff like ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’.
So it’s more complicated than that?
OldManchu
Stolen hate crime poser.
11B-Mailclerk
When did “disorderly conduct” become a Federal crime?
I believe those would be local charges by a local Grand Jury.
But the gist of it is “Fake Noose” .
UNBELIEVABLE what his lawyer said…Unbelievable!
Hypocrite! This Makes Me Angry!!
Judge Kavanaugh and the Covington kids did NOTHING wrong and were relentlessly sand-blasted by Liberals, and Liberal News Media. Did any of the liberal news media, politicians or hollywood apologize?
And now we have a spoiled, narcisstic, Trump Hater who DID commit a crime…and what does his lawyer say?
“A grand jury’s decision to indict Jussie Smollett on 16 felony counts was “outrageous,” the defense lawyer for the “Empire” actor said Friday.”
“Such charges have never before been filed on a “victim of a hate crime,” attorney Mark Geragos told anchor Anderson Cooper on CNN’s “AC360.”
“What is happening here is, frankly, a media gangbang of this guy of unprecedented proportions,” Geragos said. “And that’s the reason I got into this. I’ve never seen a media pendulum swing more quickly and viciously and rob somebody of their presumption of innocence like this case. It’s startling the way people assume that he’s guilty.”
Hope he spends time behind bars, financially pays a huge fine and is ordered to do 1,000 hours of community service for the Chicago Police Department and the Inner City Schools. Defitintely needs pyscho counseling and help…or he will repeat this behavior again.
11B-Mailclerk
For those offended by the efforts of defense counsel, you will be ever so greatful for a clever and enthusiastic attorney should you be accused of crimes. The advantages of the State are enormous. Without -good- and expensive lawyers, you will likely be found guilty, even if not.
rgr769
As one who was a member of the lawer club for many years, let me say we never claimed that lying, smarmy sack of dreck. He is a world class attention whore. One good thing is that when Juicy’s case is over, his bank account will be over a million dollars lighter.
Ex-PH2
Jussie wasn’t getting as much attention and money as he wanted. So he made up a story and paid people he knew to be part of it. The po-po aren’t as dumb as he thinks they are. Now Jussie’s paying for it, except his ‘lawer’ thinks he should get off with a warning about ‘don’t commit felonies’.
That “lawer” is right in the same legal beagle level as a dead sport plane owner, but he’s in Chicago, so he dresses better.
And this is what gets me so angry when I read his lawyer’s statement…he must be clueless on the Covington and Judge Kavanaugh incident!!!
It just goes to show what a whorehouse the news media is as well.
No–he’s not clueless in the least–but he knows a huge segment of the public is.
NHSparky
Geragos is a lot of things, but he isn’t dumb. He’s gotten a lot of high profile clients off, or at least with only a slap on the wrist.
Yeah, a lot of the shit he says is over the top but the man knows how to play a jury.
RetiredDevilDoc8404
Wow, a twofer Manning back in the can and this clown indicted on 16 felony counts. As Yakov Smirnov used to say, “What a country!” Seriously though, couldn’t happen to a more deserving clown, throw the book at him, and make him reimburse the city for all the costs associated with the investigation.
11B-Mailclerk
I am reminded of a statement made to my company by our Commander. Then CPT, now LTC (retY Tom Kratman.
His leadoff comment from a lecture on ethics:
“Liars are fucking cowards”.
Gotta love a leader that lives by that.
Morgan Blake
I remember the Colin Ferguson trial, where Furguson was accused of shooting up a subway. He served as his own attorney. It was a spectacle to behold since they televised some of the trial, or at least showed clips of it.
His main defense was centered on, in his words, “stereotype victimization of a black man… and subsequent conspiracy to destroy him.”
Is there a pattern forming here? Jussie – serve as your own defense attorney! You will be center stage on your own television reality show.
Back to the Colin Ferguson case…
They interviewed an attorney that said “As a criminal defense attorney, Colin Ferguson is doing terrible, but as a paranoid delusional he is doing just fine.”
Then a legal panel was discussing it further and they said that Ferguson, if convicted, can do an appeal arguing that his legal counsel (himself – not to put too fine a point on it) was not competent to represent him. Then the case can be overturned and retried.
Only in America!
CM
Is anyone going to talk about how he pulled this scam the very same week as his two friends (Booker and Harris) were attempting to pass an “anti lynching” law in the Senate? Is anyone going to talk about how this asshole has numerous public communications with those two through the years?
Granted I am overjoyed they (finally) are holding one of these hoax bastards to account but something smells fishy here. Did they overcharge him on purpose because they know they can’t achieve those charges and just wanted to make it appear like they cared only to later drop the charges, him go to rehab or some bullshit excuse and then end up on CNN a month later?
This idiot is a conman, no doubt about that, however he is also a complete and total moron and I just don’t see someone of his intelligence doing this alone without help and given who he is connected to and given that those same people were pushing “anti lynching” laws that same week and given how the media used this literal hoax as a means to say “we need this law”… I sense a rat being covered by this….
Fyrfighter
Agree with you CM, I’m betting that the others you mentioned were counting on the Chicago PD being as incompetent on this investigation as they are on most murder investigations (no doubt at least somewhat related to hiring practices, and more so to the political climate in that city), but failed to take into account that with his higher profile, and his pre-determined victim status, that they might actually put more effort into it, and do a complete investigation, which obviously resulted in them uncovering that piss-poor attempt at a scam…
And yeah, still hoping that the Feds do their jobs as well, and hit him with bigtime charges related to death threats, and “white powder” through the US mail..
Cameron Kingsley
While this guy might get off easy, there are times that I feel not getting jail time is worse than actually getting it, especially if it is a high profile case like this one. Because everybody knows about it and it will be archived. Casey Anthony, Bowe Bergdahl, because of how notorious they are, the fact that they did get off makes them even worse off. I’m sure Bergdahl knows that there are people who would like to string him up by his intestines if they ever got there hands on him. Makes it difficult to get a job too. I read on Wikipedia (it might not be completely true) that Casey Anthony tried to set up a photography business which apparently had ultimately failed most likely because of who she was.
