CBS rejects pro-flag, anti-Kaepernick ‘Just Stand’ Super Bowl ad
A repost from Friday’s WOT by request. Seems CBS rejected this ad from Nine Line Apparel purportedly over doubt the company could handle the price of admission. This smacks of a cop-out, as one of our members (another reason to love this place) opined in this business the cash is on the barrel, as it were, before the filming starts.
Article by Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard
A veteran-owned apparel company’s pro-flag Super Bowl TV ad that punches back at Nike’s promotion of Colin Kaepernick and his national anthem protests has been rejected by CBS.
According to the firm, Nine Line Apparel, CBS was apparently not satisfied the firm could pay for the 45-second ad, despite having annual revenues of $25 million. A spokesman for Nine Line charged that CBS didn’t like the ad’s content.
The ad features soldiers, first responders, and images of military graves decorated with American flags and gives credit to them for protecting the rights of those like Kaepernick to protest.
An unabashedly patriotic ad is spiked, ironic. What New England team is playing? I liked it, but would have sent it back for an obvious lack of things Nautical. The article in its entirety may be viewed here: Washington Examiner
Tip of the chapeau to AnotherPat, for the elbow nudge to post this up again. I can’t directly endorse a product or company, but if you happen to search for ‘nine line apparel’ with the engine of choice, you’ll get there.
Category: Dumbass Bullshit
Believe I read that the going rate is between 2 and 3 million for a 30 second slot? Hate to say it, but if true, I would doubt a company blowing 10% of their annual revenue as well. Do hate that it won’t air though.
my bad, $5.2 million. Make that 20% of revenue.
Their money, their call. Plus, it’s a matter of principle.
As it is, it demonstrates (not that anyone didn’t know already) that neither the NFL or CBS regard veterans as anything more than a marketing gimmick. I’m not a vet, as you know, but I was done with the National Felons League long before this nonsense. Fuck the Super Bowl, I’m hosting a John Wayne marathon party.
Clint Eastwood in my house.
There’s nothing like a good piece of hickory.
Pale Rider is one of his best!
And The Outlaw Josey Wales…
“So, you gonna pull those pistols, or stand there and whistle Dixie?”
Dirty Harry Series.
Go Ahead, Make my day.
Get off my lawn.
Right turn, Clyde!
I will likely be watching something else besides Farceball on Grit, Heroes and Icons, or Comet.
The Pub that I frequent turned off the Stupor Bowl halfway through and we put on Dusk till Dawn. Much better.
And what might be their rate of return for such an epic ad? Probably a good bet on their part.
Yep, that kind of advertising would net them at least double what they paid for the commercial.
Grrrr again. Weighed in on this one when it FIRST hit the WOT. I’ll be doing some business with them and hope to make a personal visit soon. Not that far down the road, but far enough that they don’t want me to drive by myself.
Y’all drop by the other thread and check out the comment. The Communist Broadcast System has again shown it’s bias to all things American. What happened to just reporting the news or putting on programs. Nine Line may have them so basis for a suit. May not be worth what it would cost cause cbs will lawer up.
Check out their webbie. If a computer illiterate, broke brain dickweed old man like me can find it, you more educated, whippersnappery younglings won’t have any problems.
Oh, and I’ll just leave this here: Fuck off cbs!
Now get off my lawn!
Standard bullshit from CBS. Remember, that’s Dan Rather and Brian Williams’s outfit. No surprise there.
PS: My wife loves her some Nine Line shirts.
And leave us not forget “the most trusted man in America”. NOT! Now, the rest of the story.

CBS – Communist Bullshit System
Brian Williams was NBC. Different network, same bullshit.
I stand corrected, thank you.
Personally, I don’t like the ad, but to each his own. As a rule, a business doesn’t turn away business unless doing so will ultimately hurt their business. Of course, there’s always the chance that the ad was rejected by CBS for the reason it gave. After all, I just checked and the price is 5.25 million for a 30-second ad. It does some a stretch for a relatively small company to pay for 45 seconds. The story of Nine Line Apparel’s ad rejection, as I pointed out in the earlier post, is FREE. Baddabing.
Yep, that’s why Las Vegas is so empty and casinos are having a tough time getting by. Businesses are always rejecting other people’s money if they can’t afford to buy a product or service….
I like the ad and wish it would air. BUT if I were CBS I would at minimum demand payment up front. Five million bucks is a lot of money, and most companies do not keep 20% of revenue on hand. The risk of getting stiffed after the ad airs is pretty high, and it is not like air time can be taken back for nonpayment.
Casinos are empty? News to me.
Last time I checked mom and pop couldn’t get rid of their SS checks and kids inheritances fast enough.
Maybe why Vegas and Atlantic City are struggling is because there have been so many casinos built up everywhere that nobody needs (or wants) to go to AC, etc., anymore.
States see a cash cow and got on the bandwagon. Almost every state of any size has at least one casino/racino. MA has a couple with more opening this year. Maine has one. NH has at least a half-dozen card rooms with low-limit table games. NY has a MFT of casinos. Ditto PA, Ohio, and WV.
Don’t even get me started on the casinos in CA, AZ, NM, and CO.
How many hear now that the Washington Whipe or Post will have a 45 sec commercial
With Tom hanks talking about how dangerous trump is ????
And why we need fake news to weed him out
I find it amazing how Obummer got away with going after journalist
Who wound tow his line… but tump per them is the most dangerous
POTUS we have ever had
WTF is wrong with these assholes
They don’t like to be publicly called out when they’re wrong. They prefer to issue a small “correction” on page 43 a week later.
Here is a link to what I’m talking about
https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/02/super-bowl-ads-washington-post/
Marketing 101. Advertising doesn’t cost; it pays. Even 20% of your total revenue for ads is not unthought of. After all it is a deductible business expense. And think about how many people are watching and have their little smart phone already in their hand. Say you get only 10 million to buy 1 tee shirt and they only make $.60 profit off of each. That’s still 6 million USD for 45 seconds of work.
Trust me, FIRST they are making more than that profit on a tee shirt, and all of the residual business they would get from each person. Plus, I’d venture to say that the “hits” from a stupid bowl ad are astronomical. Easy peasy.
My opinion stands. cbs is playing games. Maybe one of real lawyers could weigh in on the whole restraint of fair trade or even a discrimination in trade. What’s wrong cbs, didn’t like the color of their money? Wasn’t red enough for you?
CBS you see is just the benevolent dictator looking out for the financial security of a small veteran-owned business.
They should just own it that they don’t want to piss off the blue checkmark Twitter SJW mafia.
Non stop all day race baiting fest.
The pre pre pre game shows are all about “overcoming” one struggle or another.
Victims all.
I’m rooting for Atlanta this year.
I can just imagine. My BP rises just with the thought of what crap is being shown. Has Jesse “What-The-Hell-Is-He Saying?” Jackson or Al “Walter-Cronkite-Got-Nothin-On-Me” Sharpton called for unity yet? Are there any commercials in which the male’s actual gender is in doubt? Any in which we get to see two women or two men hugging or kissing? Gotta be. Just gotta be.
Now that they have wiped their asses with the flag for the last hour the game is about to start.
Bed time for me.
Glad I do not have a TV now. May not get one in the near future, either.
If they ever go truly a la carte, I’ll be paying for four I watch and two more my wife watches. As it is, I did this best I could, going with Dish Satellite and its flex pkg. ESPN and the NFL Channel I don’t get. News I get from the internet. As someone once said, “If the world ends, we’ll post a notice on the bulletin board for you.”
Thanks for the article. I went to their web page and bought a pull over fleece jacket.
I think Cav said on the previous post that Nine Line Apparel received more publicity now than if CBS had green-lighted their ad.
I know I have shared it on my Book of the Face.
But then, I’m politically uncorrect that way.
Ah, the Barbra Streisand effect. Free advertising!
2/17 Air Cav added some more great comments along with their links (Thank You, 2/17 Air Cav for the links and Ed for reposting).

Thank you AnotherPat, for the link. I just bought a sweatshirt from them.
You are so welcome, Sparks! I give the credit to 2/17 Air Cav, 5th/77TH FA and AW1Ed.😎
Our humble home just bought a coulple of long sleeve t’shirts from Nine-Line and more in the future for 2019 Christmas gifts.😉
I got a limited edition hoodie from them awhile back. It was a Gunny Ermey memorial shirt.
I never met Gunny, but felt a degree of loss nonetheless. Some of you probably did also. It could be said that NLA simply exploited Gunny for profit. It could be said they wanted to honor Gunny.
I thought it was cool, and didn’t see anybody else doing it, so I prefer to think of it as a gesture of respect.
Critics gotta criticize. Doesn’t mean I gotta give a fukk.
Since I won’t watch the shit show of overpaid felons and knee takers I would miss it anyway. I do wish the company had not been canned for anything more than being patriotic. But then again, these days being patriotic is only for veterans, my generation and older, first responders and the like. Millennials are too flaked out on Snapchat and Twitter to understand the basics of our country and patriotism is so far off their radar and out of their wheelhouse, they couldn’t spell it. The problem is, someday and even today for many it is already their country and shamefully, they do not know what to do with it. Thus they rely on social media to tell them who to vote for. Social media is nothing more than social engineering at its peak. Nowadays, any election can be controlled by controlling the social media surrounding the candidates. This is how we got the lunatic from New York AOC and Muslims swearing in on the Koran.
According to what I’ve seen on the FB feed, no kneelers were shown on camera, and the National Anthem was sung with dignity and respect.
Almost wish I had a tv to watch it.
Almost.
If the video of Gladys Knight singing the Anthem hasn’t shown up on Youtube yet, it soon will.
Incoherent ad. What are they “standing? for? It is not the flag because the video is essentially about them being heroes. They even make the protests about them as though the people kneeling are protesting them.
It is not about them. It is about the fact that we have a systemic issues in American law enforcement that results in Americans dying at the hand of police at a rate 1000s of percentage higher than any other democracy.
That we not only have individual municipal agencies that have killed more citizens than ENTIRE industrial nations with several times their population. We even have individual serial killer officers that have killed more citizens than entire democratic nation law enforcement citizens.
And most importantly that this incredible systemically broken law enforcement system disproportionally targets minorities at a rate that makes racism mathematically certain to be a significant aggravating factor.
All Americans should be outraged at what use law enforcement has become but you all keep trying to turn the issue into something about conservative identity.
If you all were true American conservatives you woul be concerned about the rise of militant law enforcement.
But you all are not American conservatives. You are Hobbesian conservatives that revel in the power of the state to force your worldview and expectations on others as long as the power of the state is targeting OTHERS.
You have aligned yourself so thoroughly with the power of the state that any protests of the power of the state you see as a protest of you and your values.
Then you wrap yourself in the flag and self-righteously claim that defending militant state power as “patriotic”.
It’s incoherent to you because you’ve never stood for anything in your entire puny life. Berkeley professors stuffed socialistic manure into your brain and you happily regurgitate it. You’re nothing but a party line parrot and a failure as a commissioned officer. Such a sad little man.
Took the words right off my keyboard, SFC D…
Lars, to break it down for you, we stand so others can have the right to protest. Not like what you and your SJW buddies stand for, which it to oppress those that oppose you.
You are not standing for anyone’s right to protest. You are whining about it, celebrating a president who talks about outlawing it, boycotting a brand for not doing enough to stop it, shaming the protesters , and claiming the protest is unpatriotic.
You are doing everything you can to stop it. Well everything you can while your ass is still on a couch.
You are “standing” for nothing.
And to claim I never stood for anything was bullshit. I stood and served my country my entire adult life. Literally.
And I was no failed officer. I developed an incurable disease that made my continued service impossible. By the time I was even close to being eligible for Lieutenant Colonel I could not spend more than a week in the field without ending up in the emergency room.
The time it took to diagnose and begin treating created more havoc on my ability to perform losing time I could have served more effectively toward then end. I was in the ER a half dozen times.
My career was not exceptional but more accomplished than most. I started as an E-1.
Bullshit Lars. Total bullshit. You use your prior service to further your commiehood. If this blog had no political aspect, you wouldn’t be here, would you? Of course you wouldn’t. In fact, I can predict which postings will merit a comment or six or seven from you. That’s your choice and your call, I know, but don’t go pretending and playing games around here now. It just doesn’t work. It’s not credible.
HEY LARS, you’re really boring the hell out of me. Tell you what, just go bob for chicken wings and onion rings in a hot deep fryer, mmmmmkay?
Oh, we must have triggered Commissar!!!! You have come in here countless time and spewed you hate, towards anyone that doesn’t fall in line with you beliefs.
– I’ve stood up for those that were abused by their parents and others – I hate child abusers.
– I’ve stood with others that were oppressed by a tyrannical dictator (Philippines in ’86).
– I’ve stood with the families of the fallen who have gone in harm’s way to console and comfort them
– I’ve put on a uniform and wore it proudly for 26 years to defend the freedoms this country stands for – including the right to free speech.
You and others like you are the ones that want to take things like free speech away. You want the message controlled. Your hatred and bigotry blind you to with hate and rage towards anyone that violates you and your “safe space”.
You HAVE NEVER STOOD for many of us here at TAH and who have served our country. You have come here many times and denigrated us and even your own service to the country (remember those initial posts you made about your enlisted service?).
You’re such as fucking asshole, Commissar… and I’m sure that there are others that feel the same way about you – both here at TAH and in person.
You know, this claim of having an “incurable disease” that “ended your career” would be easier to accept if you didn’t have a track record of being less than truthful, Poodle.
No, I’m not calling you a liar on that count; I don’t know if you’re telling the truth or not. But as one of your idealogical models – Valerian Zorin, the Soviet Ambassador to the UN during the Cuban Missile Crisis – once put it: “He who has lied once will not be believed a second time.”
Background: Zorin’s reply was made when Adlai Stevenson showed pictures of the Soviet missiles in Cuba to the UN, and asked Zorin point-blank to comment on them. Zorin refused to do so, leading to Stevenson’s widely reported “I am prepared to wait for my answer untill hell freezes over” rejoinder. Zorin’s retort began with the above line.
Zorin was correct in labeling Stevenson a liar. After the Bay of Pigs, Stevenson had presented the UN Security Council with faked photographic evidence supporting the CIA-instigated and supported Cuban dissident invasion. His reply to Stevenson was a not-so-subltle reminder to the other UN members that Stevenson had previously lied to them, and thus his claims this time should be suspect.
https://driandemellow.wordpress.com/2018/04/23/the-cold-war-epping-leisure-and-learning-centre-100-pm-300-pm-semester-1-2016/
The quote – and the background regarding same – is also documenteded in Michael Dobbs’ excellent work on the Cuban Missile Crisis, One Minute to Midnight.
It’s also significant IMO that Zorin was “toeing the Party line” while refusing to acknowledge obvious truth in the “hell freezes over” incident. Your commentary here predictably appears to show the same “toe the Party line” pattern.
You caught the incurable clap??? Too bad, so sad. Stay away from the Blue Oyster Bar and that won’t happen.
Aren’t there any legs for you to hump in Berkeley, Lars?
Commissar: Incoherent ad. That advertisement was very understandable. Commissar: What are they “standing? for? It is not the flag because the video is essentially about them being heroes. The flag symbolizes the United States, its people, it’s history. The later includes the “man against nature” endeavor that we, as a nation, continued to prevail in. We went from being a country vulnerable to collapse to the greatest nation on the planet… facing one challenge and threat after another. The flag is a symbol for this and more. Commissar: They even make the protests about them as though the people kneeling are protesting them. If those protesting are doing so for a false argument and narrative, then that’s their right. Being stupid, being wrong, or being misguided aren’t illegal. However, those who hold what they believe in near and dear, especially when it comes to what they do for their country, community, family, themselves, etc., have every right to do their counter argument. That advertisement is a counter balance to those that kiss the protesters rear ends. Commissar: It is not about them. It is about them. They have the time, money, and resources to actually make a difference in the communities that they purport to support and protest for. They could be out there, in mass, in the thick of the “fight”, but they choose to do their protest in a protected environment, where they could get “media points”. They’re not out in mass being role figures for many out there who don’t have role models. Commissar: It is about the fact that we have a systemic issues in American law enforcement that results in Americans dying at the hand of police at a rate 1000s of percentage higher than any other democracy. False. The vast majority of police shootings are justified, with the police taking action based on what they saw the suspect do. In many instances involving these shootings, the suspect didn’t take the common sense steps that would’ve prevented them from getting shot. For example, if the police order someone to leave their vehicle without their weapon,… Read more »
besig, I always enjoy the way you break down a false narrative.
Disassemble, make dead!
Great video filled with accurate statistics. But our commmie cuttlefish won’t play it or will stop as soon as he gets info that is contra the agit-prop from his perfessors. As one of my law professors observed: “You can’t reason with zealots. They stick to their false ideas because they want to believe them; all evidence to the contrary will be ignored.”
You are such a maroon! You do understand that a lot of black people are killed by police because they are the ones out there committing all the crimes! You are such a dumbass!
Well, maybe if people weren’t such douchebags and attacked police, maybe they wouldn’t get shot. Are there bad cops? Yup–and when they fuck up, they can and do get their dicks stomped flat.
I love how the lefties bitched and moaned that he dindunuffin, that cops should wear cameras, and what happened when cops started wearing them? Why, more unsubstantied cries of racism, of course! Now little Johnny has been videotaped showing his douchebaggery for all the world to see, and the left doesn’t like it–no, not one little bit!
Bottom line, Lars, the old expression still applies: Don’t start no shit, won’t be no shit.
Now go get back on the radio, Farva.
This ad would have been an embarrassment to many vets and first responders.
This kind of revelry in militant state power does not reflect the views of a significant percentage of veterans who are mistrustful and opposed to the rise of militant law enforcement and unnecessary extrajudicial state violence on citizens under the guise of law enforcement.
I am glad it won’t air on such a broad public tv event.
You don’t speak for all vets, Commissar Commissar… there are many that don’t share your viewpoint. CBS just followed your belief system of shutting down those that oppose them.
I never said I speak for all vets. Just that these guys don’t and they chose to make a political statement as a form of branding while using their veteran status to bolster the credibility of their political position.
So THIS is all you have to say when you’re not prowling the parking lots of The Blue Oyster and Brucie’s bath House (Entrance in Rear) with a roll of quarters in your pocket?
Notice how Lars doesn’t refute “shutting down those that oppose them”? Much like the rest of his fellow militant Liberals he is all for stomping out all opposing views.
Commissar:
Who are the “many” that would it be an embassassment to?
You can count me out as being enbarrassed. I am proud of my Brothers & Sisters in Arms. I am proud of our First Responders. I am proud of our President who supports us. I am proud of family and friends who are always at our sides.
So speak, please. Who ARE these other folks that would be embarrassed?
I’m guessing it’s Larsie and the dead rat in his pocket…
To the extent that Rapone was representative of the type of person selected by West Point, and you were representative of the type of officer the Army selected in your time, then, yes, I can see your rabid point. The problem is that Rapone and you were aberrations, just as killer cops are. It has always been so. It will always be so. Next item.
Lars, you sure don’t speak for me. And I grew up not far from UCB, just off Telegraph Avenue. You may not be familiar with how lots of them ol’ hippies treated a 21 year old, just out of the Army in ’69.
Never said I speak for anyone. Just that they don’t speak for all of us.
Nobody speaks for “all of us”. The probability of that rises exponentially given the population of the group.
That being said, this advertisement speaks for far more veterans than not.
Sucks for you.
Now stop arguing in generalities. It shows your laziness and pseudo-intellectual ass.
Nobody cares, Lars. Get back to your dumpster. There’s a line forming.
I am off today. If the line is getting too long for you find another dumpster.
Finally needed to get your stomach pumped, eh? Why don’t you focus on that and shut the fuck up. Nobody here likes you or respects your chickenshit opinions, nor does anyone give a fuck about what’s on your tiny little mind. You were banned for a reason, even if you want to lie about it now.
God, you spew ignorant bullshit. How you draw a ‘militaristic police state’ from it… you almost make me ashamed to have served in the same Army. You remind me of an incident at OCS in which a female INSCOM TO asked a former intel sergeant was branching Infantry, why he wasn’t branching into intel somewhere. I will admire his response forever: “Because Intel officers are wimps, ma’am”.
I didn’t draw the idea of a militaristic police state from the commercial dumbass.
“This ad would have been an embarrassment to many vets and first responders.
This kind of revelry in militant state power does not reflect the views of a significant percentage of veterans who are mistrustful and opposed to the rise of militant law enforcement and unnecessary extrajudicial state violence on citizens under the guise of law enforcement.”
I suppose the fairy fucking godmother said that.
Apparently he has memory issues concerning what he said, too. Or maybe he just enjoys dissembling.
I understand most don’t consider CA to be particularly studly, either.
Wanna guess what other branch Poodle here served in?
I heard he served as the sailor in a Village People tribute band.
“many”. You keep using that word.
I do not think it means what you think it means.
Possibly true, but completely irrelevant. Every add potentially offends someone.
Do you even bother to think about what you’ve written to post here before hitting the “Post Comment” button? Because the logical incoherence of many of your positions leads me to believe either you don’t bother – or are truly a rock with lips who’s incapable of doing more than parroting the approved “Party line”.
IMHO 99.99999 percent of the time all Babbles McButthead does is simply regurgitate his UC Berzerkely perfessers’ talking points!
I think by “many” he is referring to himself and his fake vet Antifa butt-buddies.
That city spent a lot of tax dollars a new stadium with almost nothing in return.
No Stupid Bowl on the tube at my house. I’ve got better things to do.
Nine Line holds a special place in my heart. To all the Army, the Nine Line MEDEVAC request is a call for help. Part of what I was/am. To CBS ( Communist Broadcasting System)….you’re irrelevant.
It’s a NATO format…should be familiar to all. At least all that got out and about. 🙂
When I was a younger I wanted to get the nine line tattooed on my arm.
When I shared the idea my team leader he said “WTF?, you can’t remember that shit?”
Seemed like a less cool idea after that.
So, instead you went with the hammer and sickle. Much, much cooler, eh?
That’s pretty damn funny there,
2/17 Air Cav.
Just above:
“Workers of the world unite; you have nothing to lose but your chains.”
Now that’s funny, I don’t care who you are.
I’m betting that he has a Che Guevara tattoo and poster on his wall.
I don’t want to know the location of that Che tattoo . . . .
Little birdie told me he has a picture of Che as a tramp stamp so his boyfriend has something to aim for.

Dusty, were you ever with the 54th Medical Co. (AA) at Fort Lewis from 89 through their deployment for the WOT?
No, Close as I got was the 283rd Med Det (AA) when they were at Ladd AAF at Ft. Wainwright Alaska 1980-1982. Not close, I know but there are places farther away.:)
Just thought we may have crossed paths there, I was the civilian MAST guy for WA state during that time, I worked with some great crews.
Am looking forward in hearing Gladys Knight singing “Our National Athem.”
Ms. Knight was excellent, but I have to ask, where were The Pips?
Notice that Lars never writes anything that challenges the intellect. From him, it’s all this or all that and that’s that. He’s a good commie that way.
I notice how you love to put me in a box and dismiss me as a commie but never actually ask what economic ideas I support.
Putting someone in a box as an excuse to ignore them is a sure sign that you are afraid they are right or have ideas that may challenge your ideological beliefs.
I am no communist but seeing economics as anything beyond a binary and deeply flawed concept of capitalism vs communism is more than your small mind can handle apparently.
Your still debating 18th and 19th century economic ideas in the 21st century. 100 years of economic data and tax returns from more than a dozen industrial democracies has led to a whole new body of economics and unlike 19th century ideas these economic theories have databases of cold hard data backing them.
Rather than debating philosophical thought experiments dreamed up by a retired tutor and by an underemployed leftist journalist.
You don’t like labels, is that it? You don’t like to categorize people, is that it? Well, I recall someone referring to us as Nazis and fascists. By who? Come on, you can say it. And the militant police? Another one of your boxes. So, blow it out your ass, Lars. It just won’t work.
400% correct!
It’s kinda funny, Lars, in a sad and pathetic kind of way, how you piss and moan about an imaginary police state when a true police state is required for your preferred system of government to survive. Which just goes to show what a fucking imbecile you are.
Indeed. In a police state such as Poodle here seems to believe we have, he’d quite likely have become one of los desaparecidos already.
SQuishfishMcBlobDoodle, PLEASE let us know if you EVER understand how to write complete sentences and understand punctuation and English grammar.
You are functionally illiterate. I do not understand how you expect to get your point across when your dismal use of the English language is only superceded by your complete lack of intellect.
What dies he do other than incoherently regurgitate the effluvia that his so-called Professors put i his head? If it weren’t for bacteria, Commissar would have NO culture at all!
Such is the Bezerkley way. You don’t have to know how to spell, write in coherent language, or use what little of your frontal lobe that hasn’t yet atrophied.
If you can parrot talking points–provided they’re “approved” ones, you’ll do just fine among those of the hive mind there.
And yet you speak in generalities.
Telling, that.
Get back on the radio, Farva.
Following the example of others here, I just bought the “Just Stand” tee from Nine Lives. Blue.
Navy Blue?
*grin*
I want the War Dog t-shirt. I had a Shepherd long ago. Smartest dog ever!!! She was also an actress. She could play dead with the best of them and carry soap bubbles in her teeth or on the end of her nose.
I’m not watching the kneelers, Lars, so if you’re lonely and need more attention, I’m available.
Most importantly, is that a SIG 556? Here I thought I was the only one with superior tastes in fine weaponry.
I’m too lazy right now to read all the above comments so:
I also share your OUTRAGE at this buffoonery!
-or-
This situation is pleasing to my patriotism and ethos.
Probably the first one. Commissary-er is here pissing people off.
Oh well! Off to ignore the Stupid Bowl!
If She Who Must Be Obeyed (and Keeps The Books) would approve, I’d have a SIG 556 in my cabinet, for sure.
Unfortunately, she prefers we have food to eat and a house over our heads.
Maybe I’ll get lucky some day and win a giveaway…
Well if the zombie apocalypse would hurry up and get here….
I won a SIG 556 patrol swat in a raffle benefiting the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Keep the faith, brother.
I have a SIG M400. So, so, sweet.
Household 6 approved the funding for the purchase of a SIG 556 patrol at FOB Twist. I love that thing.
Absolutely forgot they were playing an NFL game today
Missed this on Friday and have been gone most of the weekend…
If they don’t want this ad, they don’t want this ad.
How many times does the NFL have to step on your dicks before you realize they don’t care about anything but selling merchandise? If they could sell the merchandise without having to pay the players there’d be no games at all.
Once you understand the only reason for the games is to sell you stuff under the guise of a sports competition their motives become much more obvious.
Everything the NFL does is to appeal to the lowest common denominator knuckle draggers in the nation. All their “support for the troops” is a bullshit appeal to the public to make the public feel better about spending four hours doing absolutely nothing on a Sunday afternoon.
There are some great young men in the NFL who spend decent money from their salaries to take care of kids, vets, or hospitals. I respect that part certainly, but the NFL as a whole is as corrupt a corporate monopoly as there is. Their corporate sponsors are no different, with a few notable exceptions. I’m not at all surprised this was tanked. The NFL never wants to offend a significant demographic that buys its merchandise.
It’s all about merchandise, the competition is secondary to that goal which is why even the NFL office hates the New England organization because New England’s success hurts merchandising in other markets.
Stop treating genetically gifted assclowns as heroes and a lot of this nonsense goes away.
Bread and circuses, man.
Bread and circuses.
I saw an NFL fan wearing a jersey with some player’s name on it. I asked if it was his name; he said no. I pointed out he was a grown man and I asked why was he wearing someone else’s name. Are you being paid to advertise for this man I asked him. He asked me if I ever wore my name on a shirt, for 20 years my friend I replied.
I just don’t get how grown adults with the ability to write their name in the snow think it’s a good thing to wear someone else’s name.
It is a kind of false hero whoreship thang. (yes, that typo was intentional)
Everybody stood for the National Anthem at the Puppy Bowl… um, NFL?
That was the most boring Super Bowl ever, with the most boring game, most boring commercials.
Every single thing about it was dull.
A different take:
CBS is a private company. They can (and do) air any ads they want to, no matter how silly. Conversely, they can elect not to air ads based upon any criteria they wish to use. They must answer to their stockholders for those decisions.
While this decision makes my skin crawl, I am among those who would not have seen the ad if it had aired during the game. Would we have seen it in other media? Maybe, but not particularly likely.
So, while I think that the CBS decision was wrong, I fully support their right to make it. Only they have to live with the results of that decision. Meanwhile, Nine Line Apparel got a better return on their investment by the ad not running than they likely would have had if it had aired. That seems entirely appropriate.
