‘Why didn’t they just call the cops?’ asks mom of slain Logan man

LOGAN — The mother of a 23-year-old Logan man shot and killed Friday in his ex-girlfriend’s apartment during a confrontation with the woman’s current boyfriend questioned why police were not summoned before the dispute turned deadly.Investigators said Dylan Tyson Millan showed up after sending texts to his former girlfriend.
“I don’t understand why they just didn’t call the cops,” said July Cruz, Millan’s mother, during an interview Saturday.
Cruz said her son was sometimes misunderstood because he was outspoken.
“He has no filter but he had a big heart and he didn’t deserve this,” she said.
The shooting occurred at an apartment on River Bend Road about 6:30 a.m. Friday.
“Officers arrived and located two adult females performing life-saving measures on an adult male,” according to a statement from Logan police.
Millan was pronounced dead at the scene.
After texting his former girlfriend, Millan arrived at her apartment where several people were inside, including the woman and her current boyfriend, Jeremy Boyle, 26.

Police: One shot in argument between tow truck drivers in Pittsburgh

An argument between two truck drivers responding to an accident Saturday in Pittsburgh led to a shooting, police said.The shooting occurred at 3:40 p.m. in the 900 block of Washington Boulevard near Shetland, according to Alicia George, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman.
An earlier accident on Washington Boulevard drew multiple tow trucks. Two truck drivers started arguing, according to George.
“One went to his truck, grabbed a bat, and approached the other unidentified driver,” she said.

“Stand your ground” defense clears teen charged with murder in Florence County

JOHNSONVILLE, SC (WBTW) – A Florence County teen has been cleared of murder due to South Carolina’s “stand your ground” defense/Castle Doctrine.Solicitor Ed Clements said Wyatt Shane Altman was cleared in the 2017 shooting death of Johnsonville 18-year-old Dylan Hanna.
Altman’s lawyers argued that Altman was within his rights to shoot the victim, said Clements. The case has ended unless the Attorney General’s office appeals it.
Deputy Solicitor Todd Tucker handled the case.

Huntingtown Man Faces Multiple Firearm Violations After Reporting a Stolen AK-47
On Thursday, January 24, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Trooper First Class Backus, from the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack, responded to the 2100 block of Wilson Road in Huntingtown, for a report of a stolen AK-47 style rifle.
Christopher Dale Hiner, 27 of Huntingtown, reported a AK-47 WASR 10 7.62 mm X39 mm rifle was missing from his residence.
Hiner’s girlfriend told the Trooper on January 22, 2019, she was in the bedroom where all of Hiner’s weapons were stored, when James Foster and a female arrived at the residence. She said Foster entered the residence through the open front door unannounced, and at one point when she was outside the residence with Foster, he went back into the residence alone for approximately 5 minutes. She said when Foster came back outside he mentioned how clean all of Hiner’s weapons were.
Hiner told officers, he noticed the rifle missing when he went to clean his weapons on the evening of January 22, 2019, and after speaking with his girlfriend and his family he suspected that Foster may have taken his rifle. Hiner said advised he attempted to make contact with Foster to see if he took the rifle but was unable to make contact with him.
During the theft investigation, Troopers learned that Hiner was prohibited from possessing a firearm in the State of Maryland, due to being convicted of carrying a concealed dangerous weapon in October of 2017.
Police confiscated one handgun, five rifles, two shotguns, various magazines and ammunition.
The following items were seized from Hiner’s residence.
One brown and black rifle, Remington .22 Long Rifle, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One black and silver Marlin 30/30 rifle.,Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One black and brown Mossberg Shotgun .20 Gauge, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One Gold and Brown HMR .17 Cal Rifle, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One black Remington 700 rifle, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One black M4 Carbine rifle, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One black Remington 870 Shotgun, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One black Beretta PX4 Storm handgun, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One box containing thirteen (13) 30 Round Magazines, three 40 Round Magazines, and one .40 Magazine.
Three ammo cans containing various ammunition, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One white box containing assorted ammunition, Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One thirty round magazine. Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One fourteen round magazine. Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
One plastic baggie containing assorted ammunition. Located in the suspect’s bedroom.
An application of charges for various firearm violations has been submitted for Hiner, and he is scheduled to appear in Calvert County District Court on March 4, 2019.

Great work by the Maryland State Police in confiscating the convicted felon’s firearms. I realize the felon lives in Huntingtown and probably used the weapons to shoot varmints an such to put vittles on the table. IMHO no felon, especially one convicted of carrying a concealed dangerous weapon, should ever again be licensed to own, possess, carry, or use firearms.
I don’t care whether his right to vote is ultimately restored. Give him the ballot box but not the ammo box. Keep guns in the hands of us good guys who are licensed to carry.
That AK-47 better not have been fully automatic or he just might end up in even deeper trouble than he already is.

In regards to the two tow truck drivers. Did one of them grab a combat assault bat? What color was it? Flash suppressor? Bayonet mount? Humongous clip? Or was it just a regular old Louisville Slugger made for hitting baseballs?
