Shit-faced, wrecking truck, and assault. What else could go wrong?
Galva man found not guilty in murder trial

By Robert Connelly
GALESBURG — A Galva man was found not guilty Friday of murder in connection with the June 2018 shooting of a 19-year-old who had crashed his truck on his property.

James Love, 59, of Knox Road 2000, was acquitted after about an hour of deliberations by Knox County jurors. He had faced charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm for the death of Xavier Hartman.

Hartman died of a gunshot wound that struck his femoral artery after a dispute with Love after Hartman reportedly crashed a vehicle near Love’s rural Galva home. The shooting occurred after a scuffle reportedly happened between the two that included Hartman striking Love in the face at least once. Hartman, who was unarmed, was struck by two bullets in the incident.

Fibber? More like leaker.
Alleged fibber arrested after robbery, shooting in Sumter

BY ADRIENNE SARVIS
A Sumter man is in jail after allegedly lying to the police about being the victim of a shooting when he may have been shot while committing an armed robbery by the victim of the robbery.

Details of the moments leading up to Frankie Furman’s treatment at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital became clearer as Sumter police officers investigated his claim that he was shot while in the Manning Avenue area near Atlantic Avenue on Tuesday.

Officers could not find evidence to corroborate Furman’s story and determined that no shots had been fired at that location, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for Sumter Police Department.

About 30 minutes before being called to visit Furman – who was receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to the upper body – at the hospital, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the Manchester Road area.

Two women in the area said they were robbed at gunpoint after a man pulled up behind their vehicle while they were parked in the driveway of a residence, McGirt said. The man reportedly told the women to hand over their purses and jewelry.

After responding and fearing for their safety, McGirt said, one of the women retrieved a legally owned handgun that was inside the vehicle and fired it in the direction of the robber, who then drove off.

Suspected robber dies in shooting at Lumberton sweepstakes parlor

A Lumberton man was shot and killed Thursday night while to trying to hold up a local sweepstakes parlor, authorities said.

Robeson County deputies responded to a robbery and shooting at Lucky Clover Arcade, at 5306 N.C. Highway 72 West, at about 9:45 p.m.

James Locklear, 35, of Pembroke, a manager of the business, was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and was stabilized, authorities said.

A second shooting victim, later identified as Gerald Lamar Cooper, 30, fled the scene before deputies arrived, but they were able to find him near a wooded area on Journey Road, authorities said. He was taken to Southeastern Medical Center, where he died of his wounds.

This Sunday morning, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, we have an admirable 2 / 1 / 0, with two becoming fertilizer, one handcuffed to his gurney, and no others reported. But they’re out there, waiting.

First, Why am I up this early?

Outcast

Well let’s see, either you can’t sleep or you have trouble sleeping or your up so as to take someone to work around 4:45 am. Oh wait, that is why I am up so early. Yep, got her to work. Now I can do my KP duty’s, feed the animals and get back to putting things away here.

Hondo

Same reason I am, probably: 40+ year old habits are hard to break. (smile)

Wouldn’t know what it’s like to “sleep in.” Never been able to do it, even if I was off. As Hondo indicated, decades of habit are hard to break.

Speaking of which, this winning habit is breaking the bank at the betting window. Where dahell is Jeff LPH3, I need another Brinks truck to haul my winnings off.

Sunday Breakfast Buffet Bar Brunch is on me. And yes they have waffles, pecan stuffed with peaches. In honor of Ex-PH2 we also have, in addition to orange juice, grape juice…fermented.

2 & 1 pays fairly well. And who knows, maybe the 1 will pick up a nice staph infection. We can only hope.

You are always offering to pick up the tab, but you never say where and when we can take you up on these offers.

Whenever and wherever 2 or more of us shall gather. Thus it is said, thus shall it be written, and thus it shall be.

Keep in mind there will be NO/NONE… 10n1 Rations, C-Rats, or MREs served.

Sumter, hmm, must be a city girl, when I was there many years ago, folks would have hit dead center in upper body and thus a dirt nap, I’d say she needs to fine tune her sighting, either that or do guard duty on a still for a couple of years.

But,but, but at least one of them was a victim. Boohoo hoo

Sumter is in South Carolina.I am not familiar with the laws there.
Here in Florida, you are forbidden to shoot at a fleeing robber.
Even if he is carrying a gun.
Once he points it at you as he is fleeing, then go ahead and light him up.
So those ladies would be in big trouble here for shooting him as he was running away.
It does seem like justice to stop someone running around with a gun, especially as he threatened two women with it.
You put your life in the hands of a district attorney in that situation.
Just charging you will ruin you financially
