Ginsburg Misses Supreme Court Arguments

| January 7, 2019

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is recuperating at home after cancer related surgery. As a result, she wasn’t on the bench hearing arguments before the court. More arguments are on their way… She may be recuperating through those as well.

She previously voted, from outside the Supreme Court, to block one of President Trump’s actions.

From the Associated press:

Appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1993, Ginsburg rebuffed suggestions from some liberals that she should step down in the first two years of President Barack Obama’s second term, when Democrats controlled the Senate and would have been likely to confirm her successor.

She already has hired clerks for the term that extends into 2020, indicating she has no plans to retire.

If she did step down, President Donald Trump would have another opportunity to move a conservative court even more to the right. On the day she had surgery, Trump tweeted his wishes for Ginsburg’s “full and speedy recovery!”

She ain’t gonna step down; this moldy old bitch will sit on SCOTUS until she crumbles into dust…

AW1Ed

I’m afraid you are correct, they’ll have to carry her off of the SCOTUS bench in a box. I actually admire that dedication, but if she’s unable to perform her duties it’s time to retire.

When that happens (and it WILL happen, one way or the other) will the Dems beclown themselves again, a la the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings?

I sure hope so, and think they will.
*grin*

5th/77th FA

“…will the Dems beclown themselves…” well duh huh “Ed ya think? Hell to the yes they will. Look forward to it.

Still think it would be funny as hell if the dTrump nominated das hilderbeast for SCOTUS. The Senate would never confirm her, well maybe not, but under the law there would finally be an investigation of the POS.

Hey I can dream can’t I?

David

If that happened, expect a whitewash that would do Mark Twain proud followed by an instant confirmation. Not a good idea…

Twist

I hope that Trump nominates Garland just so I can watch the Democrats contort themselves trying to oppose him.

Poetrooper

Ed, I don’t think it’s so much a matter of dedication as it is determination and external pressures on her to be a placeholder until the Dems elect a president. I also think there’s a bit of ego at play. The Dems tried to get her to step down when Obama was prez but she refused. I think Ruthie was likely one of the most surprised people in Washington when Hillary dropped the ball and put her in the difficult position she’s in now.

AW1Ed

Maybe so, but that’s a two to six year race; I doubt the old gal has it in her.

UpNorth

Her fanaticism to remain on the bench at all costs says a whole lot about her private life. With her attitude, she’d make a good jihadist.

Casey

I expect the lead the Republicans hold in the Senate will prevent another circus if Trump has the chance to nominate another judge.

Mike W.

LOL
I don’t wish her to die, but just go away and have a peaceful life for whatever time remains.
She can hang out with all her interns and stuff still ! !

2/17 Air Cav

There’s a movie of some sort out about her now. The gal who plays her doesn’t look half bad so you know the damn thing is fiction. Ruthy Long in the Toothy is our answer to Red Line’s horrendous appointments to the court: she all but guarantees that President Trump gets a third. Of course, the sooner the better. The sands of her hourglass have run and no one can turn it over.

JacktheJarhead

Actually Cav, I saw some pictures of her when she was younger. A very attractive woman. Do I like her, No, do I wish she would die, No, Step down, Oh yes! But she is going to be carried out, no doubt in my mind.

The Hillary idea would be so funny! They would investigate her and find all the dark and corrupt things she and Cigar Boy have been up to.

2/17 Air Cav

So, she’s a telecommuter? That’s great. I wonder who is writing her stuff and whether she’ll get to vote from home too. Reminds me of the late Senator Byrd. That fellow was in diapers, drolling, and still “doing the People’s work.” Sure he was.

JacktheJarhead

You mean The Grand Dragon?

CDR_D

Not wishing ill on the old bat, but if she does croak anytime soon, there is not enough popcorn in the world to supply the entertainment that follows.

2/17 Air Cav

I don’t wish her ill either. In fact, wish her a peaceful and happy passing.

AW1Ed

Ahhh, the softer side of Cav. Who’d a thunk it?

You forgot the “swift” and “soon” parts, though. Navy has your back, just like always.

Sapper3307

Hillary will lone her a few pints of stem cells.

NHSparky

To be fair, she’s in (slightly) better shape and at least a bit more coherent than Thurgood Marshall was before he finally stepped down.

But just barely.

2/17 Air Cav

Only because she has no pud to pull. Marshall liked ease of access so he often wore no pants in his office.

JacktheJarhead

Oh there is an image! Really? He actually did that?

2/17 Air Cav

I am searching for the source. It is out there somewhere. I distinctly recall seeing it but I can’t yet relocate it. I fear “the purge.”

Club Manager, USA ret.

Anyone want to cover my wager that President Trump had his fingers, toes and balls crossed when he tweeted for Ginsburg to have a full recovery. Time for her to hang it up but we all know she won’t as long as her mind is functioning to decent capacity – in her own mind.

JTB

Weekend at Ginsburg’s…???

Mason

This begs the question of her removal if she refuses to retire but is no longer able to fulfill her duties. I think impeachment is the only way to remove a SCOTUS Justice.

11B-Mailclerk

Our legally-informed types will likely confirm. The appointment is for “life”, not strictly for high-functioning values thereof.

Mike MacDonald

People sartt enough to be appointed to this court should also be smart enough to know it is time to go. Then again her political affiliation prohibits such common sense.

Tallywhagger

Needle in the paw. Git’r’dun, git’r’gone and move along with rehabilitating America.

FWIW, her essential claim of fame or liberal/socialist interest was being a female and accepted into Harvard Law School. That puts her on the same playing field as Hussein Sotero-Obama. He was accepted into Harvard Law for being a mulatto. At least his purported father self identified as an erudite pipe smoking, skirt chasing, Kenyan Keynesian.

You may recall that Al-Gore’s only access to public acknowledgement is derived from his mother’s similar accomplishment, being the 10th female to graduate from Vanderbilt Law School in 1936.

Ruth was one of nine females in her law school cycle. She is actually very intelligent and, as far as it goes, was not bad looking in her prime:

Whatever, she is no longer suited nor capable of representing justice in America. To the contrary, she hates America.

Bill Clinton foisted her against America. The ugly that falls off of that man is immeasurable.

Slow Joe

How long until the Dems find a body double to seat in her chair?

The end justifies the means, you know, and the dems mean well.

Claw

Body double? = Frau Farbissina, but only after she breaks it off with Una Brau and gives up her job as founder/director of the militant wing of the Salvation Army./s

Tallywhagger

Had to look this one up:

“What does Frau farbissina mean?
Her surname derives from the Yiddish word פאַרביסן farbissen (verbissen in German), meaning “embittered”; a farbissiner is an angry, bitter, vocal (male) person, while farbissina is the corresponding female form. Frau, German for “Mrs.” or “woman”, is apparently treated as a given name”

SEAL TWO

Actually, they’ve already replaced her with a Pelosi talk-box that they program to vote a certain way. She died right after learning that Schrillary lost to Trump, they stuffed her like a sock puppet and placed her upright to just keep her mouth moving.

26Limabeans

Kinda like what they did to Hugo Chavez for a few months.

Green Thumb

Not a big fan of her political opinions as they/she should not be on the Court and her mouth has gotten large and prolific. She should have stepped out of SCOTUS years ago.

That being said, those of you that are trashing her on her age and other non-sequitur issues are cowards, clowns and under-educated bitches.

And I must admit, the numbers seem to be growing here.

As stated, not a huge fan of the woman. But it is what it is.

Oh, and were did the Stolen Valor link go? Posers (and exposing them) I would think I had rather see than why/what we are/are not a conservative/liberal blog. We have gotten away from our roots….

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out….or maybe it does?

rgr769

Our dislike of Justice Ginsburg has nothing to due with her age or her medical conditions. We don’t doubt that she has been a very smart lawer. But she is a committed commie-light. Prior to her appointment to the Court by Slick Willie she was the head of the ACLU, a body of committed leftist lawyers created to defend the Communist Party of the USA and its members from criminal charges. Their purported support of the Bill of Rights is just their cover. The ACLU is committed to the transformation of this Republic into some bogus socialist utopia. Ginsburg always votes her socialist values in almost every case before her, not on a fair interpretation of the language of the Constitution.

rgr769

“do” not “due”–damned auto correct is retarded.

2/17 Air Cav

It is I Robot taking control, piece by piece, little by little. Destroy it before it’s too late! I wish I had done so months ago. It’s now too late for me.

Green Thumb

I do not disagree and I actually support your comments, but some folks get out-of-bounds for little to no reason except (it would appear) drunkenness, ignorance or boredom.

IDC SARC

“drunkenness, ignorance or boredom.”

Ignarum Censes Conplectuntur Sic Convivium

That would make a great tattoo. 🙂

“drunkenness, ignorance or boredom.”

Hey, there’s our new motto!

Hondo

Actually, that’s already taken. It’s the primary three inspirations for the “Good Idea Fairy”.

IDC SARC

Dammit!

I like the motto Green Team observer-controllers used at the NTC:

Fuggit…worms gotta eat.

IDC SARC

and the since her lung sticking to her ribs means the cancer is metastatic…probably time to serve up the appetizers 🙂

SSG D

Just because she had pleurisy or pleuritis does not indicate metastatic CA. It’s an infection. I’ve seen it many times over the past twenty years in the OR. From what I’ve heard, she didn’t even have a pleural effusion.

IDC SARC

I never read anything saying she had pleurisy. Everything I read said the the lung has stuck to the lung because of the tumor. Couple that with the rib fracture it points more towards metastasis.

There’s not enough info to be sure…but I’m forming my opinion based on experience, her demographics, and the fact that despite any s/s she exhibits the media tends to portray her as superwoman.

I could be wrong….we’ll see.

IDC SARC

oh, and mostly I was being a dikk

IDC SARC

“lung has stuck to the lung”

LOL…meant lung stuck to the ribs. Anyway …if ya got a CXR lemme see it and then it’ll be settled.

Laudy she looks chock full O’ cachexins and likely suffers from anemia of chronic disease and circling buzzards…or she’s just in geriatric decline. Flip a coin cuz either way she’s not gonna be around much longer. Happens to us all.

SSG D

Good copy brother.

Green Thumb – I can speak a little to the Stolen Valor link since I was in on the issues and discussion. I can say its removal is not a reflection of getting away from our roots although I will concede that it gives that appearance. The best I can do is cover the history and the decision-making process. When Jonn died, many of us stepped in to fill in the gaps with article writing and administration of the site. I liked the Stolen Valor link, but quickly realized that it was something that was mantained by Jonn with hand-jamming entries. I mistakenly thought it was automatic based on “ticking” a box in the writeup, but apparently he edited each and every new entry. The question arose: “How many people used it and was it worth maintaining?” Months rolled by and we got about 4-5 people that wrote to us and asked if the site had closed. Apparently, they linked to the site directly from that link and did not read the other articles. Was a bit surprised at this but it still did not tip the scales to maintain it – so merely directed people to the main site. I think the link is valuable, but in the transition to the new site, which Dave alluded to in his request for Beta testing, it needs to be factored into – to sound like a marketer – the overall design, navigation and offer everyone a quality user experience that they’ve come to know and expect. This is where my knowledge of it all ends. We hadn’t maintained it due to the eventuality of shifting everything over. Suspect it was removed to cut down on questions as to why it was not maintained, but that is just speculation on my part. As far as the way forward, we have communicated a little with people that are key in maintaining the site, but there are a lot of logistical issues we are still tackling such as legal, technical, business, mission, etc. Exciting things ahead. Would love to share but most things are… Read more »

Green Thumb

Hey,

I appreciate the update.

And my thanks to all of those that have stepped in to fill the void caused by Jonn’s passing.

Dustoff

Not saying I want anything to happen to her, but word on the street is that everyone in Munchkin Land will be partying their ass off when she goes…wink.

JimmyB

Ya’ll there is hope. My own mother was a lying, conniving, manipulating, hateful old fat bitch that turned family against family and made my dad’s life hell. I didn’t think she would ever die, but, early one morning I got the call that she did. I made sure she was ashes before sundown and later I scattered it in a river – can’t be too careful!

jim h

dude. wow.

JTB

Whispers she is on her deathbed…

IDC SARC

Ruth…go into the light.

OWB

Don’t have to like her to wish her a peaceful passing. Yes, it was a classy thing for our prez to do to wish her well. Speaks well of him, in the you don’t have to be disagreeable just because you disagree sense.

Meanwhile, with all the electronic gadgetry we have these days, no need for her to be there to be there. Might as well take advantage of it.

Anyone else think it odd that a biopic about her should hit the screen at this particular moment? Probably nothing nefarious about it, but the timing is just weird.

Hondo

I’m wondering just what kind of post-surgical painkillers – and how high a dosage – she’s taking.

I don’t particularly like the idea of SCOTUS Justices considering cases when they’re so stoned that they would be considered legally “under the influence” if driving – whether it’s alcohol, prescription medications, or illegal drugs.

Stephen F. McCartney. M.D.

She looks very ill and frail. Rare to have any comebacks when one is old, cachectic and weakened. Usually a mild pneumonia takes them out. Like all here, I don’t favor her politics or court decisions but do respect her career, deep friendship with Antonin Scalia and hope her health improves enough write her resignation speech. Soon I hope.

Three days into her new workout program an energetic, clearheaded and spry Justice Ginsberg was interviewed by our roving DNC reporter.

When asked about how she was feeling overall about the new program she said, “I love hospice!”
