16-year-old was shot, killed while trying to steal cell phone, police say
ORLANDO, Fla. —

New details have been released on a shooting that left a 16-year-old dead in Parramore.

Orlando police said a couple trying to sell phones killed the teen, but that it might have been in self-defense.

Officials released 911 calls in the case on Friday.

Orlando police said it was an online cell phone deal that led a married couple to shoot and kill a teenager Wednesday.

Newly-released 911 calls reveal what the couple first told police.

“Somebody robbed us and my husband was like, trying to protect us, and we ended up having to like shoot at them,” a woman told a 911 dispatcher.

Officers said Denim Williams, 16, was found dead from gunshot wounds near Polk Street and West Jefferson.

The husband said they felt threatened.

“I don’t know if they’re hit, I don’t know what’s going on, but I know we did discharge our firearm at them, when I thought he was pulling a firearm on me,” the man told a 911 dispatcher.

WESH 2 News spoke with Williams’ granfather, Virgil Smith. He said the high school student was planning to move in with him.

Smith said he would have convinced Williams to study more and take a different life path.

Suspect arrested in connection to shootout with clerk at East Side gas station

By Caleb Downs
Police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a violent gun battle at an East Side gas station that left another teenager with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

The suspect, Javonta Kenneth Marquise-Whitfield, is now facing a charges of marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon. He remains in the Bexar County Jail.

According to a preliminary report of the shootout, Marquise-Whitfield and a 17-year-old boy entered the 7-Eleven in the 5200 block of Rigsby Avenue just after 2 a.m.

The gas station clerk later told police Marquise-Whitfield shot at him, and he returned fire, striking the 17-year-old boy in the back of the head.

How the shooting was initiated was not addressed in the preliminary police report, and Jennifer Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the department, said no other information regarding the shooting would be released.

Responding officers later located Marquise-Whitfield and arrested him on the drug possession and weapon violation charges.

Sub-zero temperaturers, hot shooting draw headlines tulmutuous year ends

Charles K. Goldtrap, age 17 years, was shot and almost instantly killed shortly after 7 o’clock last night by Mrs. Elizabeth Haskett at her home, 2630 Orman Avenue.

Haskett, when questioned by the police, gave this account, as reported by The Chieftain:

“He (Goldtrap) attempted to gain entrance to the house where she and her daughter, age 14 years, and her son, age 10 years, were alone. Her husband W.H. Haskett and her older son were at work at the Minnequa steel plant at the time.

“The Goldtrap boy resided at 2510 Orman Avenue, just a block this side of the Haskett home. Why he went to the Haskett home and for what purpose seems somewhat vague. The bullet penetrated his lung and he died before he could get out of the yard.

“According to the story told by Mrs. Haskett to Deputy Coroner A.R. Davis, she was alone in the house with her two children when she heard someone knocking at the front door.

?‘I called down the stairs and asked who was knocking and what was wanted. I received no reply and the knocking continued. I shouted to the person at the door to go away, as I was alone and would not open the door. Then I heard someone walk around the house to the rear and asked to be let in. I said I would not let anyone in the house and for God’s sake to go away.’

“At this moment, I heard the back door open and someone’s footsteps on the kitchen floor. I loaded the revolver I kept in my bedroom and shot through the bedroom window thinking whoever it was would be frightened away. The intruder left the house.

“Thinking that he had left the premises, I went downstairs and opened the back door. I heard a noise but could not say what it was. I could not see anyone and to make sure that the man would go away, I fired another shot into the darkness.

“As soon as I did so, I heard a man cry, ‘Oh.’ I hurried back into the house and a short time later was told that a man had been shot.”

Dicey shoot- no visible target or threat. The rest of the article may be viewed here: Fowler Tribune

Ya beat me to it.

Sorry akpual. I forgot who I lifted it from.

Did ya notice the picture that Grandpa pulled out? Bluejean looked to be about 8-10 yo. Which thug was it on national news kept showing a little boy picture from back when and the current age shot was a big hulking thug? Just saying.

A big black scary assault pistol? Got to be what with the clip thing, a black flip up thingie in the rear AND a multiple purpose chainsaw bayonet attachment. To quote the Right Reverend Cletus “Can you see the light!”

No way our Mama could have loved any of us if we’d had a face like the “Block” (sic). As a good Christian Woman, and the wife of a WWII Artilleryman, she was for sure a disciple of Brother John Moses Browning. And yes, her favorite passage from the KJV was REV 19:11.

5th/77th FA

For sure those two, and there may have been others. The local news folk have a bad tendency to do the same, or eliminate the pics altogether. My memory banks are affected sometimes by this blending of so much input. Sad stupid when they will give a “description” of a perp and leave off the race. That’s happening here ’cause a city/county commish critter called it “profiling”. How you gonna find a perp going on “19 yo, 5′ 8″, 160 lbs, wearing a dark colored jacket”?

I liked the sneaking in of the 1918 story. When I first started reading, I attributed it to piss poor proofing, see that all the time lately. Then I thought, damn them bloody marys Ed had yesterday have kicked in. Funny as hell, keep it up.

This is another reason why I show up here everyday and camp out on that corner bar stool. And try to comment on each post, you know, that whole quantity over quality thing I do.

What no muzzle cam to go with the landing lights and heads up display?

Be nice! Glocks are like a girl with a not attactive face but a nice body. She works hard, always runs and will never let you down. Like the old song goes, If you want to be happy for the rest of your life make an ugly woman your wife. Unless you are Dave hardin. I love me some Johnny B. Guns but I carry Gaston’s finest.

375?

Is that a record? 🙂

Claw

Nope, not even close. Some scores have been in the 6, 7, 800 range when the FBBSDC* multiplier of 11 is used.

Javonta? Kid didn’t have a chance

Ex-PH2

I have a suggestion for the mother in the last article: put a slide-lock with a chain on your back door. Otherwise, lock the confounded thing.

Apparently, where she lives, there are no streetlights. I’d suggest a floodlight fixture for the side door and for the back/kitchen door, with a motion sensor that lights up the area quickly. Never can be too careful.

How come there’s a mini-flashlight on that gun? Seeing eye light kind of thing? No high-power MASER included? That would zap a rabbit at 50 feet, in the dark.

CCO

I thought about back door lighting, but was there electricity in Pueblo in 1918?

Claw

I saw that also, since the story from Pueblo, CO occurred 100 years ago.

I’m thinking AW1Ed posted that just to see if we fellow Deplorable Miscreants are paying attention. (Smile)

CCO

Well, I thought it was a misprint at first until the bi.

*bit abou the flu.

Ret_25X

actually the reference to the dad and brother working at the steel mill gives it away…

the mill is still open today, but the original site is a national historical site.

2/17 Air Cav

I just read the piece and was not far into it at all when I said to myself, “Self, this is not contemporary writing.”

The Fowler article also noted that schools would be reopening after being closed two weeks for the Spanish flu.

Mama bear is lucky that incident happened a hundred years ago. Today, she would most likely be going down for a bad shoot. I get the shot out her window but the one out the door after the fact at no known target posing no immediate threat probably would not sit well with a prosecutor or grand jury.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

I went onto Vpike.com and checked out the two houses on Orman Ave and they are still standing there, as small 1 story houses. the perps house is really small.

rgr769

Surprise, surprise, Sgt. Carter!! I just read that the perps in the shooting of little Jazmine, in the Walmart parking lot is Houston last week, were not a bearded very “white” male. It seems the two responsible gang bangers were both black; one is even named Black. I guess all that “it was racially motivated” horseshit has to go down the memory hole. Although, the Daily Mail still has the fake news in their captions of photos that the shooter was a white male, as confirmed by numerous “eye witnesses.” Gee, I wonder who, or if someone, gets the $100K reward for the arrest of the raciss white male who done it cuz the people in the victim’s vehicle were black.

rgr769

I just discovered that the spokeshole for the $100K reward effort is none other that fake black man, Shaun King. Oh, the irony: A white man masquerading as a black man raising reward money to catch an alleged white murderer who is really a black man.

Denim? I guess corduroy was taken.

Keepin' It Real

Here’s a feel-good story involving a firearm. Kid tries to rob his own mother.

Keepin' It Real

Sorry, that went way over my head. Who or what is LC and what does the bridge reference mean?

Sorry if I’m missing the obvious.

5th/77th FA

KiR, do believe ‘Ed is referencing that the above video is fake. In as “if you believe this is real, I got a bridge to sell you.” ie London, Washington, Golden Gate ect ect.

LC is another poster that is on the electoral college thread, he referred to that old saying.

Keepin' It Real

Thanks.

Yes, the video is fake/staged. I’d give the actors a B+ but what gives it away is the camera operator – it shifts to keep them in frame, so not a security camera.

I thought it was obvious but should have said. It is similar theme to those videos that are labeled “When a Pit Bull attacks a cat” and it shows a puppy and kitten playing. Or when they say “Dog attacks alligator” and it shows a puppy playing with a stuffed alligator. The humor is in that vein.

I’ve always felt that when you find yourself having to explain the joke it loses something. Perhaps bad delivery.

Pitbull attacks alligator. **WARNING** Extremely graphic
