Wednesday morning feel good stories

| August 1, 2018

From AURORA, Colorado;

Well, the incident started off with a feel good ending.

A police officer is on paid administrative leave after he shot and killed a homeowner, right after that man shot and killed an intruder in his home.  Police responded to reports of an intruder early Monday morning. When officers arrived, they heard gunfire. They confronted a man armed with a gun, and an officer shot and killed him.

The armed man was actually the homeowner who had just killed the intruder.

Officials say the intruder was found dead on the bathroom floor.

I guess if you kill someone that breaks into your house you probably should not greet the Police with a gun in your hand.

From CENTREVILLE, VA

A homeowner shot and injured someone he suspected of being a burglar Monday morning in the 6300 block of Fairfax National Way, according to Fairfax County Police. The suspected burglar was hit twice and is being treated at a nearby hospital for injuries not considered life threatening.  Around 5 a.m., police responded to a reported burglary. The homeowner said he saw a man in his backyard, confronted him near the front porch and then fired several shots.

UPDATE: The intruder, identified Tuesday as Ethan Redd, 29, of Chantilly, has been charged with unlawful entry.

Now here is one that becomes a pain in the ass.

FOX 6 reports that the 21-year-old suspect attacked the 33-year-old man—later identified as Thomas Chojnacki—from behind he was leaving on a bicycle on Thursday evening. Surveillance footage shows the suspect run up and take Chojnacki down to the ground. Chojnacki later said the suspect was trying to take his gun.

“He was determined to get that gun. I know if he got the gun, he would have killed me without a second thought,” Chojnacki told TMJ4.  A physical struggle ensues, with the suspect eventually running off. Chojnacki chases after him off camera. After about 15 seconds, Chojnacki returns to his bike. The suspect then comes running towards him, at which point Chojnacki pulls a gun from a holster and aims it at him. The suspect paces around the gas station parking lot while Chojnacki keeps the gun aimed at him.

When the suspect gets closer to Chojnacki’s bike, Chojnacki hits him in the back of the head with his gun, which prompts the suspect to pick something up off the ground and start running. That’s when Chojnacki opens fire and shoots the suspect in the butt.

Police arrived and took the suspect to a hospital. He is expected to recover from his injury. Chojnacki, meanwhile, was interviewed by police in the aftermath of the shooting. It has been confirmed that he is a valid concealed carry permit holder.

“I didn’t have no time to think. he just kept coming and my adrenaline was pumping,” Chojnacki later said.

After reviewing the surveillance footage and the available evidence at the scene, police arrested and charged Chojnacki with reckless endangerment. Milwaukee police say criminal charges are also pending for the suspect.

I got a feel good story for y’all, LIKE BUTTON!
I watched that Chojnacki shoot. I sympathize with the guy but he done f’ed up. Can’t go around shooting non armed people in the backside.

Deplorable B Woodman

What was it that the perp picked up and was trying to flee with?

Roh-Dog

Chojnacki said it was his wallet, his fear was the perp would have his address and he was thinking of his family’s safety. (aside: I like it when my quarry comes to me, just sayin’)
Unless it was a weapon, bad shoot. Still I’m hoping, betting and praying Chojnacki gets a VERY small smack on his pep-pay.

Hondo

Yep. Shooting someone who’s running away from you is frowned on most places.

AztoVA

Should have shot him in the front when he started to return the first time.

Hondo

Too bad about the homeowner in Aurora. But as DH said: greeting a cop with a gun in your hands isn’t generally the best idea – particularly when the cop is responding to a report of a break-in or home invasion.

AztoVA

The one time police arrive while the crime is still in progress – story says the police heard the shots, so going in they wouldn’t know who was who.

Sad story for all concerned.

SaraSnipe

Holstering one’s weapon while waiting for law enforcement to arrive is recommended; however, being at home and in pajamas this might not be an option. In my case, I would be buck naked. Too bad, he was in his home defending himself when he gets shot by the ones coming to protect him.

Ye except john wayne syndrome punk newbie cops should have the common sense to say “drop the gun” and id yourself!

UPDATE:
On 26 June of this year, three police officers responded to reports of a man with a gun at a motel. As the officers rounded a corner of the building, they came upon the man. He was ordered to drop the gun and one of the officers fired. (Only one. And that is unusual.) That officer was placed on routine administrative leave but was returned to duty on 18 July. Less than two weeks later, that officer was one who responded to 73-year old and VN Veteran Richard Black’s home. That same officer is the one who shot Mr. Black. There is more to it, beside the fact that the intruder was the naked one and that Mr. Black’s clothing was described. Mr. Black was white and the intruder was Black as coal.

Is it bad luck that the same cop shot two people in the span of two weeks on the street, and that he was the only cop shooting? I think not. BTW, the name of the cop isn’t being released. The police say he has rec’d death threats. My ass.

Dwight Schwarz

Report is Mr Black was exiting his home at the time of the officer shooting him after he was ordered to drop his weapon. A. Mr Black suffered severe hearing loss and most likely did not have his hearing aids in place as had been sleeping, firing gun at intruder also lessened his hearing. B. not knowing if more intruders on property most likely is reason he kept his weapon. Big question to me is did he make a threatening move toward officers or did the apparent gun happy officer just shoot. There has been no word as to any body cameras or police video. American Legion in area is taking donations to help take care of fellow VNV with proper burial.

Gun in hand when burglar or goblin invades – Good move

The homeowner is reported to be a VN Veteran and it appears he may have been inside his home when he was shot. The prosecutor has advised the police to STFU for now. https://heavy.com/news/2018/07/richard-black-aurora/

I like the like buttons. I also like that I can undo the like if I change my mind about the like. I also like the unlike so we can shame people within our ranks if we don’t like what they said. There is so much to like about the like and unlike buttons but I’d like to say one more time that I like them and I also like the fact that they are like the Facebook like buttons in function but look more like a pile of splooge than a hand, but I like the fact that they are unique. How many times can I say ‘like’ in one post? Opps, there was one more that slipped out.

[VALLEY GIRL VOICE] It’s LIKE… seriously?

Please feel free to like or unlike this post.

2/17 Air Cav

I dislike the like and dislike buttons. I’m not sure why. Perhaps it’s b/c it reminds me of Facebook and I despise Facebook, being the anti-social SOB that I am. Or maybe it’s b/c a dislike button is too easy. There’s no shaming a person through a dislike button if there is no explanation offered for disliking a comment. For now, at least, I won’t be using the buttons, so if someone likes or dislikes a comment, don’t look at me. I didn’t do it.

Dave Hardin

The suggestion to put the Like buttons has showed up in our email more than once. Thought I would give it a try and see what people think.

Thought we would give it a week and see what people think. Maybe a survey post.

2/17 Air Cav

Damn UpNorth. He’s been asking for those buttons for years. I have to blame someone, so it is he that I shall blame.

Daisy Cutter

Give them a like and a dislike, and they will want a pile of poo-poo, a love heart, a middle finger, a Barbed Cock of Satan, etc.

Why? Because the need to express ourselves in a unique way is hard to capture sometimes.

2/17 Air Cav

At least those show some imagination. I really want a GFY button and a “What are you, Canadian?” button.

BigJohn

A survey…….Like

Dave Hardin

I Disliked you…just because it’s you. I was thinking of setting a default to Dislike everything Ex-Ph2 says automatically.

2/17 Air Cav

Unrelated to you or Ex-, I would have preferred a middle finger as a third button.

2/17 Air Cav

Uh-oh. I thought you were talking to Ex-. Now that I see you were talking to me, I am sorely tempted to hit the Like button.

Dave Hardin

Hmm…I like the way you think.

Ex-PH2

Okay, no cigars and no whiskey are coming your way this week. Look for a smelly package full of horse-produced road apples instead, Dave Hardin.

The things we do for cookies….

Ex-PH2

I would say also that it is unwise to meet a cop at the door with a gun in hand. The HO could have simply put it on the floor before he opened the door.

Wilted Willy

I like everything!

David

Sure would like to see video from that Aurora shoot. As panicky as cops seem to be nowadays, I can see uglier alternative explanations. Hope the cop was justified. What ever happened to “Drop the damn gun NOW!” before lighting someone up?

Only suggestion I see for the like/dislike buttons a little? On a phone they are pretty close.

2/17 Air Cav

Get a bigger phone or smaller fingers.

Dave Hardin

Hmmm, I checked my phone and I see what you mean. I will work on that.

OWB

Nope, do NOT like the #$%@ buttons. Just more crap to scroll through and another distraction.

Dave Hardin

I “Liked” you anyway. S/F

Skyjumper

Not a big fan of like/unlike buttons, only because there is no explanation of what you like or unlike.

However, I think Larry Flynt of Hustler fame had the best like/unlike buttons. If I remember right they were: Limp/Half Limp/Erect/Fully Erect with a penis style emoji.

I will try them.
You will see.
