ISIS claims attack on cyclists in Tajikistan
CBS News reports The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for an attack in Tajikistan that left four cycle tourists, including two Americans, dead over the weekend. The terror group released a video purportedly showing the five men who carried out the attack, pledging allegiance to its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
A Daewoo sedan plowed into the group of seven foreign bicyclists about 60 miles south of the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, on Sunday, according to local police. The people in the vehicle then “exited the car and stabbed the cyclists with knives,” the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan said in a statement Monday.
Four of the cyclists died and three others, including a woman from Switzerland, were injured, Tajik officials said.
Two of the victims were American, one was Swiss, and another was from the Netherlands, both foreign and Tajik officials said. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon sent the leaders of each country a telegram expressing condolences Monday.
United States Charge dAffaires in Tajikistan, Kevin Covert, met people at the American embassy in Dushanbe who came to pay their tributes to the victims of the attack.
Of all the places in the world, they pick Tajikistan for a cycling vacation. If they wanted a thrill seeker adventure vacation, should have visited Chicago or Baltimore.

Tajiki Amish?
I’m surprised at this. The Tajiks have said that they want tourist traffic. They don’t have much in the way of products that they can export. Tourism is one of the few things they can offer to generate income for the Tajik people. They have welcomed hikers and climbers to come and stay there while starting hiking tours or climbing the peaks of the Pamirs.

The West’s unwillingness to fight to win and the attempts to appease the sensibilities of the enemy equates to perpetual warfare. The enemy has a stronger will to fight and it shows when countries just let them walk right in and take over. Bicycle touring is a lot of fun, I’ve done a few, the low countries and central Europe, the Adirondacks & Catskills of NY, B & B tour of Vermont, the trail along the Delaware/Raritan Canal in my home state of NJ on a regular basis and across the Delaware River in the Poconos and Bucks county, Penciltucky……..BUT bike touring Iraq, for that fact also Afghanistan, Iran, Syria or Norkland is up their with the stupid moronic mindset of the SJW types, Well they managed to fulfill and are candidates for receiving a Darwin award because of a stupid moronic bucket list of asinine things to do. They should’ve practiced conceal and carry of at least 1 if not more of a little dark scary gunmetal colored device known as a pistol. NO sympathy here for these so called and most likely higher educated stupid’s lacking common sense

Well now I really feel stupid, the wife and I went cycling in the US Virgin Islands and were thinking about cycling in Bermuda…we could have gone to Tajikstan instead…geez how silly of us to want to cycle in a beautiful climate on an island where most people there like our company when we could have gone somewhere miserable thanks to Russian pollution of the farmland and where most people fucking hate us….
Did two years there 09-11. President there doesn’t put up with extremism, especially if it encourages unrest. Mostly peaceful, considering it was a 3 hour drive from the capital to the Afghan border. Tourism could be a money maker there, something like 1/2 the country is above 10,000 feet. Beautiful place, incredibly poor. Sad story
WAR STORY ALERT: I served as an international election observer for a Kyrgyzstan, election on the Tajikistan border three months after 360 Tajiks were murdered and another 200,000 chased across the border. Every Tajik I met was friendly, the women tall, slender with mouths of gold worth more than my pickup. But a Muslim country above the problem countries so no wonder they have some crazies. However, on a different note, for anyone to be in that part of the world without good reason is asking for trouble.
